My opinion does not matter in this case, you may approach a court sir.
BTW, insults are equally welcome.

Insults are the language of touts and idiots who have run out of words to express their idiocy perfectly - I try not to be one. I noticed you have neither answered my questions nor denied them - pretty much the same answer the LASIEC Chairman posted. You have been presented with a question that challenges the fundamental function of a Resident Electoral Comissioner - How can you release results for ballots that have not been collated, where are you getting the figures from and the only answer he can offer is "See you in Court" This answer is stupefying and makes you wonder the mental and intellectual stability of the LASIEC Chairman, anyways, Your opinion may not matter here or in a Court of Law but in the Court of Public Opinion, it matters a whole lot.

I am happy that in the very same year that PDP delivered the freest, fairest and most transparent elections ever, ACN has only delivered sham upon imposed sham.
There are protests rocking parts of Lagos, it will get exponentially worse as the people realise that ACN is only relying on Fashola's work for its electability. Outside of Fashola, its just a dense nest of corruption, ineptitude and heartlessness. The people are not blind, indeed eyes have opened.

Eko_ile, Gbawe, seant - putting asides our political affiliations and perceived or proven bad character of political leaders. I want to ask you a few questions.
1: Did you participate actively or passively in the recent LGA Elections
2: What is your honest (non-biased) opinion of the performance of LASIEC Officials at the polling center you voted
3: ETI-OSA LG results are yet to be counted - LASIEC Officials walked out and have not collated the results till-date, yet Wale Adeniji has been declared the winner with poll results to boot. What is your view on this

I have never been passionately involved in any election than the recent LG elections in my entire political life. I am a card-carrying member of the PDP representing WARD L2. From Saturday till last night I have been returning each day to the Council offices to protect ballot papers that unidentified armed men purportedly from the SSS have tried to take away. Youths from Lagos Island arrived yesterday with machetes and guns, Senator Obanikoro was shot at and injured in the leg (lucky for him), fingers of a PDP member were cut and a representative of the Hausa Community was beaten to unconsciousness.

These events do not fit the picture you passionately paint online (and offline I assume), I was there first hand and the only reason I am grateful this morning is that I made it out alive.

I recognize that you are a long-standing member on NL whose political discussions indicate that you are a man of intellect and passion. I will also wish to implore you and fellow NL members who are active ACN party supporters/members to look at the matter of elections in new light. Positive performance is the most important value an Elected Public Official is Obligated to deliver to the people who voted him into power. I have lived in Ikoyi since 1995, I walked with Tai Solarin, Rioted with Sowore and Malcom Fabiyi in our Aluta days, and Pelted the Police with stones and kerosine-filled bottles trying to unseat Abacha. I was passionate about the NADECO Agenda and Tinubu was my hero-in-exile. It saddens me greatly that we have turned the opportunity to recover a great deal of years stolen by Military Dictatorship and Corrupt leadership. The LG Elections is the Grassroots Empowerment Engine, the real connection between the People and their Leaders at the State Level. I cannot speak for the performance of recently announced Chairmen and Councillor results, but I can say this for Ikoyi/Obalende Constituency, PDP won all Council seats and the Chairmanship fair and scare. I now understand the heart-ache that the cheated feel when injustice is dealt to them. Even if PDP were to go to court, the Lagos State Chief Justice will seemingly forget that ETI-OSA votes for which results were announced by the LASIEC Chairman are still yet to be collated.

Is this the future of elections in Lagos?

If indeed that justice was distorted, ACN should be prepared for the consequences. Lagos State Government controls LASIEC but they should remember that FG (which is PDP controlled) controls INEC. PDP, for all her ills has the best crop of guys that fully understands this country. This may go unchallenged by PDP but only to fester the heat of hurt of suppression of people's voice meted to them by their beloved party and for the first time, you may have many people asking critical questions about how sensitive this regional party is. Remember that injustice is a sore wound.

This is not about throwing insults, but this is a true test for shining knights like Fashola. Where he stands now matters most. Is he with his party or with the people? If he plays to the gallery and enforces ACN position, he might have compromised the basic reason for ACN support in Lagos State. Otherwise, he might be hurting his political associates. But for what i see, and no matter how this plays out, ACN may emerge less popular.

Was the ACN less popular when 82% of voting Lagosians gave the ACN a landslide victory and voted the ACN back to Alahusa?

Was the ACN less popular when the people of the SW got rid of the PDP and asked the ACN to manage their affairs?

The LG election and the ACN landslide was a reflection and true feelings of the people of Lagos state and the people of SW to completely get rid of anything PDP for good.

And if this is an excuse by the PDP to institute their famous rigging machinery in future elections across the SW or Lagos state in particular, tell them to bring it on.

I have never stated that the ACN is a Party of saints and I will never defend the Party blindly because, at the end of the day, political Parties are means to an end. In fact, if you inspect my past posts you will see that I have stated , many times, that we have to just select flawed heroes for now till the beautiul ones are born i.e we must persevere with what we have till our politics is civilised and cleansed enough to accomodate politicians who are 100% committed to adherring fully to the principles of democracy.

The ACN is not perfect but , IMO, it has a far greater chance ,than the PDP, of evolving into a really progressive Political platform in future. If the ACN battled the PDP fire for fire , then they would have learnt to do this via experience and on many ocassions where ACN was blatantly cheated in the past using sheer thuggery and the might of the federal government. We saw Akpabio using federal might to bully Akpan Udoedehe only recently !!!! Remember the Ekiti heist of 2009 that GEJ presided over?

Man mi, I know Lagos politics fairly well and I can admit that there is greater disaffection with the ACN , at LG level, but it is totally disingenous to claim that the PDP would have been the beneficiary of any drop in popularity of the ACN. That is far from the truth. The ACN is still , by far, the most popular Party in Lagos and the PDP comes a distant second. The elections , even with irregularities, are a fair reflection of affairs. Nonetheless, this should serve as a wake up call to the ACN.

Lagosians cannot sit back and watch the ACN plunge our dear state into chaos. The recent Local govt. elections were marred by violence orchestrated by the ruling ACN.Members of other political parties especially the PDP were either shot, wounded or kidnapped.Hundreds of gun weilding thugs attacked people and snatched ballot boxes. The results of the election were announced from an hotel owned by the former governor of Lagos state instead of the Lasiec office. The media was denied access to collation centres across the state. This points to only one thing, the ACN has cheated Lagosians again.Let us not be decieved.go to areas like Alimosho,Ikorodu and Badagry and you will discover that the L.g.a re not function.Better late than never.Lets forget parties and vote credibility

thanks for admitting the obvious fact that the elections were shamelessly rigged. I don't see what part your fraudulent reference to GEJ plays in the the sham we are witnessing in Lagos.
An odour is beginning to seep out of ACN and it is not good.

When acn start to cry wolf in the future, only few people will listen to them because they have shown their real colour, that old man who is the chairman of Lasiec that suppose to be a role model to the younger ones has sold his conscience, he allowed himself to be used, what a big shame.

Come to think of it Nairalander - Musiliu Ibanikoro set ablaze City Hall - Full blown corruption . He lost in the guber poll and he was presented an ambassadorial post all in the name of inepititude.

You can imagine Musiliu Obanikoro's son who contested for the last Chairmanship position in Obalende - Ikoyi LG. What does Obanikoro think we Lagosians are? He super-imposed his son by the way of bribery in the primaries on the plateform of fee-dee-fee. I dont want to mention parties here but we are not fools. Obanikoro is finished politically as far as Lagos is concern.

Like Father-Like Son, Well na so Obasanjo, Tinubu, The Bankole's, The Mantu's and our called other leaders behave. They rule us, enslave us and pave way for their children's children to rule us again. Haaa, na thunder go fire all of una,

we shouldnt expect free and fair elections anywhere in this country for now. its simply the battle for the fittest. Just as both the previous presidential and gubernatorial elections averagely nationwide wasnt, why do we expect the LGE to be? Until serious electoral reforms are put in place, elections like this will always be the norm.
besides, ACN is very much more popular than PDP in Lagos.

Re: ACN Sweeps LG Polls As LASIEC Releases Offical Results by tolu001: 3:40pm On Oct 26, 2011
The difference between the ACN and the PDP is "opportunity to be in position of authority". Now that the ACN have some opportunity, we will see what they will do with it within the next 4years.

Meanwhile, most of these ACN politheivians are birds of the same feather with their PDP counterparts, the LG elections in Lagos state is a pointer to that, even though the PDP set the pace and still holding the ace, ACN have shown they are no washouts in this game of rigging and overturning the people's mandate.

All the same, the problem is not the political parties but the system and the people. The system gives credence to the Master Rigger and pampers the perpetrators of this heinous crime while the people hold aback and watch as these dream killers dash their hopes and steal their future away.

The average Nigerian masses need to rise up and ask for what belongs to them, vote wisely without recourse to any ethnic, religious or political affiliations, insist that their votes MUST count, hold their leaders accountable for their actions and in-actions, make constructive criticism where and when necessary and stop this ludicrous celebration of  political mediocrity.

Then the dieing Nigerian state; a product of the bad leadership which in turn is a product of rigging and the evils that come with it can see some rays of hope for a brighter and better future.

We have not grown politically in Nigeria.
Its a shame that the likes of Tinubu will be worse if he happens to be in PDP
With what happened in Lagos state, it clearly shows that people are not primarily considered.
Tinubu imposed candidates on people. Candidates who failed woefully in their first tenure. At least, I know of 5 of such. That is not democracy
I'm so sad. Its a pity that if only PDP can take advantage of this and strategise with sincerity of purpose, they may take ½ of Lagos is not all.
ACN and Tinubu in particular should realise that Lagosians are not fools.
