We lost one of our cousin and so I travelled down home to attend the burial. Both immediate and extended families travelled from across the country with thier families for the occasion.
So one of our cousins brought thier pastor/prophet from the city, and decided there will be a vigil in the family compound to cast out demons and break 'generational curses' in the family. I reluctantly attended and when the vigil was going on, the pastor kept prophesying to different members of the family and telling them alot of weird things to do if they must break the curses. I wasn't comfortable at all with his appearance and narrative throughout.
When it got to my turn, he asked about my wife and I told him she's at home and couldn't attend the burial. He asked about my kids and I told him I have two kids. Then, he said my wife and the members of her family are after the lives of my kids. He said my wife's mother wasn't happy about our marriage from day one and they want to kill our kids on the same day and accuse me of being responsible for sacrificing them for money so that my wife can leave me. He then asked me where I work and I told him I work with an insurance company in Lagos. He then said if I know any Kolawole and I said he's the chief finance officer where I work. The pastor/ prophet then said that this Kolawole doesn't want me in that company and has sworn that he will set me up.
Before he could even finish, I just turned back and walked away back to my room. To my surprise majority of our family members also abandoned the vigil immediately. Now you may want to know why we all walked away??

(1) I'm not married
(2) I don't have kids
(3) I don't work with any insurance company
(4) I don't even live in Lagos

The next morning, my cousin and her husband who brought the pastor were very angry with me. Although they couldn't confront me, but I overheard them reporting me to some elders in the family and asking them to mandate me to apologize to thier fake pastor. Before they could approach me for that, I just went straight to the pastor and told him I don't want to ever see him anywhere near our village again. The whole compound became chaotic and I went back to my room wandering what I did wrong..
Please fam, did I do anything wrong in exposing the pastor's shenanigans?
