SUPPLICATIONS IN ISLAM
DEFINITION OF SUPPLICATION
Supplication simply means: as an act of worship by which the servant turns to Almighty Allah to seek care from Him and obtain help.
It was narrated by the authors of the Sunan except Al-Nasa’i. Supplication is the link between the servant and Allah and the bond that connects the Muslim to his Creator. The Almighty Allah said: “ And your Lord says, “Call upon Me , I will respond to you” (Ghafir: 60), so He linked the response that comes from the Creator to the supplication that is the servant’s action.

FROM THE HOLY QURAN

Allah said in the Holy Qur’an : “ And your Lord says, ‘Call upon Me, I will respond to you. Indeed, those who are too disdainful to worship Me will enter Hell humiliated [ Ghafir : 60] .

Allah said in the Holy Qur’an : “ And when My servants ask you about Me, then I am near. I respond to the call of the supplicant when he calls upon me. So let them respond to Me and believe in me, that they may be guided.”186( Al – Baqarah : 186) .

Allah said in the Holy Qur’an : “ Call upon your Lord humbly and in secret. Indeed, He does not like aggressors.”55( Al – A`raf : 55) .

FROM THE HADITHS OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD (SAW)
The prophet (SAW) said:
Whoever among you has the door of supplication opened for him, the gates of mercy will be opened for him, and he does not ask Allah for anything, meaning it is more beloved to him than asking for well-being.

It was confirmed from the authority of Abu huraira that the prophet SAW said :
There is nothing more honorable to God Almighty than supplication

CONDITIONS FOR SUPPLICATION

For supplications to be accepted by Allah there are conditions that must be met, obstacles that must be avoided, and reasons that must be met.
As for the conditions, they are three :
THE FIRST:
supplicating to Allah alone, without any partner, with sincerity and sincerity, because supplication is worship. Almighty Allah said: And your Lord said, “Call upon Me, I will respond to you.” Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell humiliated. {Ghafir: 60} And in the Holy Hadith: Whoever does a deed in which he associates with Me others, I will leave him and associate him with Him. narrated by Muslim

SECOND:
Should a person not supplicate for a sin or a severance of family ties, as Muslim narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, who said that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: The servant will be answered as long as he does not supplicate for a sin or a severance of family ties, unless he is in a hurry. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, what is the urgency? He said: He says: I have prayed, and I have prayed but I have not seen my answer, so he becomes sad at that and abandons the supplication.
THIRD:
To supplicate with a present heart, certain of the answer, as narrated by Al-Tirmidhi and Al-Hakim and authenticated by Al-Albani on the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him. He said that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: Call upon Allah while you are certain of the answer, and know that Allah does not respond to a supplication from a careless heart.

AMONG THINGS THAT MAKES SUPPLICATIONS TO BE FAST ACCEPTED

Beginning the supplication with praise and praise to Allah, and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah, and concluding it with that.
Do not hesitate. Rather, the one who is praying should be determined and insist on God. -Investigate the times of response, such as the last third of the night, between the call to prayer and the iqamah, when breaking the fast, and so on.
Eating good things and avoiding forbidden things
-Facing Qibla while make supplications
VIRTUES OF MAKING SUPPLICATIONS

1- The supplicant draws closer to Almighty Allah with something that he loves and is honorable to. Al-Tirmidhi and Ahmad). Al-Zubaidi, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Rather, supplication became honorable to Allah: because it indicates the power of Allah and the inability of the supplicant

2- Supplication is a reason for peace of mind In supplication there is a medicine and a healing balm for the ailments of the chest, such as worries, anxieties, sorrows, and chest tightness. In the supplications transmitted from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, there are some supplications that help comfort hearts and remove their sorrows.

3- Supplication is a reason for steadfastness and victory Almighty Allah said: {And when they came out against Goliath and his soldiers, they said, “Our Lord, bestow upon us patience, and make our feet firm, and grant us victory over the disbelieving people.” [Al-Baqarah: 250]. Then there was victory and triumph: {So they defeated them, Allah willing, and David killed Goliath} [Al-Baqarah: 251]
