Why Keep Following Pastors Giving Fake New Year Prophecies?

The failure of the prophecies of many of the very popular so-called "men of God" is well known and well documented. That these men failed clear scriptural position is evident. The fact that many of them even make up stories as to why their prophecies fail is also known. That many of these prophecies both on personal and national levels have led to incalculable disasters is equally generally recognized. Why then do people keep following these people? Even Ghana, recognizing that all is not well with all these prophecies placed a "ban on what she called misleading New Year prophecies and the havoc they are capable of precipitating."

A major conclusion one can come to is that the followers enjoy the charade. They are fascinated by the razzmatazz even where it goes in clear violation of God's position. Like the Jews of Jesus' time even when they are being told that they are under bondage they insist that they "have never been slaves of anyone." John 8:33. Like them they seek no freedom from the bondage they are in. They relish in it.

In Deuteronomy 18, God expressly forbids wanting to peep into the future. The future is to be left to God while the believer trusts him on a moment-by-moment basis. When the believer chooses to "know" tomorrow what is then the need to trust God for it? Of course, for a generation that has been taught that they are "gods," fortune-telling wouldn't seem anything strange. It would just be an additional "benefit" of being on the godlevel.

What these so-called " men of God" and those who are enthralled by them are doing is engaging in the "wicked ways" God asked his people to turn away from in 2 Chronicles 7:14. Any wonder then why the church in Nigeria and anywhere that follows the same trend has little or no impact on the land but is rather losing ground? The clear word of God has been substituted with philosophies of men at best or doctrines of demons at worst.

Instead of seeing the darkening clouds the church is still taking the position of "nothing spoil”. Like Israel was told by false prophets that " nothing spoil", they won't go into exile as a discipline from God. Today's "men of God" are telling us the same - all is well. We are moving from "one level of glory to another". Unfortunately, they are the ones living posh lifestyles as the glory is departing from the church.

When the majority of the Church chooses to go its own way we can only expect more DIVINE DISCIPLINE. The one who controls history metes out discipline of all kinds like he did to Judah in 2 Chronicles 15. The Bible said, " God was troubling them with every kind of distress." Despite what today's "men of God" may say God is still in charge of blessing or disciplining nations. Where the 'salt of the earth' in that nation fails, we can expect nothing short of God's strong hand of discipline on our nation. This accounts for all the contradictions we experience as a nation: Where despite the resources to make our nation great are available we still experience shortages and lack. If God's people who are called by his name do not turn in the right direction to him, we can only expect more woes.

Who are God's people called by his name?
How can innocent individuals identify them?
All pastors are claiming original so who has the TRUE New Year Prophesies?

Nobody will admit that the spirit of God isn't working with him or her so how can we know the true prophets since all of them are good in quoting the Bible?

Today anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as saviour becomes part of God's people.
That relationship with Christ makes a person a part of God's people - 1 Peter 2:9-10.

Nowhere in the Bible does God support New Year prophecies.

Jesus said, "By their fruits, you shall know them". Using the scriptures to weigh what they present or preach will reveal the real from the fake; the true from the false.

What FRUIT did Satan and his agents have as explained by Jesus?

"You are from your father the Devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father. That one was a murderer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of the lie." John 8:44

So according to Jesus the FRUIT Satan promote among his agents is killing one another and lying to one another.

Now who are those that aren't killing one another as prophesied in the Bible book of Isaiah 2:2-4?
Jesus said the greatest commandment is LOVE God and neighbours {Mark 12:28-31} that's to say true worshipers of God don't support killing one another because they are brothers in faith! John 13:34-35

One person can't be addressed as "PEOPLE" so God's people must be united in their line of thought and judgment so they don't fight to kill their fellow believers. John 17:22 compare to 1Corinthians 1:10; Ephesians 4:3

So who are they? As they're bearing the fruit of LOVE, JOY and PEACE in their gathering! Galatians 5:22 smiley

Indeed lovers of lies follow purveyors of lies.

I believe that I addressed them in my response - who the people of God, the fruits and how they can be judged and more importantly that there is no biblical mandate for the Christian to seek to be peeping into the future.

No you haven't because religionists around are saying the same thing and it's like some saying you are evil while you are also saying the same about them but if you can present a group of people practicing something unique that will save you all the debate all you just need to do is quote what God said and leave observers to see how this group is WORKING to achieve it! Matthew 5:14-16

Regarding the highlighted please explain what these CHRISTIANS are doing here:

While he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things" Matthew 24:3

"But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here" 2Timothy 3:1

"For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the wholesome teaching, but according to their own desires, they will surround themselves with teachers to have their ears tickled. They will turn away from listening to the truth and give attention to false stories"

"Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but the one who does the will of God remains forever" 1John 2:17

Are these people not CHRISTIANS?
Are they not PEEPING into the future?

Christians can do the wrong things. When we talk about sin or sinning it means walking contrary to what God wants. That is why confession is talked about in Scripture. In short, Christians do fail.

I agree with you that Christians do fail even the apostles erred in some of their decisions and they had to go back to what Jesus taught them for thorough meditation.
However they will stand out for one unique reason: The doing of God's will!
Unlike all other religions only the Christians as a body can unitedly do the will of God that's why Jesus said about them:

“You are the light of the world. A city cannot be hid when located on a mountain. People light a lamp and set it, not under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it shines on all those in the house. Likewise, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your fine works and give glory to your Father who is in the heavens" Matthew 5:14-16

This isn't referring to individuals found in different religions claiming Christians otherwise Jesus won't say their light will shine and they will be noticed globally, you and i know that there is no individual who is noticed globally than movies and music stars but when it comes to a congregation or assembly or group or organization then we can say they're shinning because in every nation people will know them and their group as being unique.

So do you know such a group?

They are the "chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."

The highlighted word "they are" differs from "he or she is" meaning it's a group of people or organization (not single individual) working towards something very important: God's will.
So like the first century disciples called by the people of Antioch "CHRISTIANS" {Act 11:26} they are well ORGANIZED. 1 Corinthians 14:33, 40

They will simply not be accepting the words of those who give fake New Year prophecies. At the end of the day seeking to know the future leads people away from trusting in God. They will simply be putting their hope in those so-called prophecies. The focus then shifts from God to man or a thing.

God's people want to know what the future holds for mankind in general not some greedy form of prophecies about personal goals!

It shouldn't be about what God's people want to know. It should be what God wants his people to know. It is the issue of personal wants that leads many to seek fortune-telling in the name of prophecies.
