You don't have to go all the way from kaduna to benue State to buy yam. Niger state is close to kaduna. Yams are also cheap there. Give it a try
Abuloma80:

WHO BE THIS ONE AGAIN
We are discussing a very crucial issue of 20 tubers of Yam @ just N2,500. But you are bringing an unrelated topic of ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE! Who cares about Artificial Intelligence if those yams can be assessable in most part of the Country at even 5 times the price. Yes those yams at N12,500 is still cheap.

In Kaduna each will not be less than N1,500. So the bunch of the 20 tubers will be N30,000 Wallahi l am not kidding. That's how we have been buying yams over here in Kaduna.

If not for the security challenges in the Country honestly it's worth it and very profitable for one to buy from Venue and resell at Kaduna.

If not for insecurity, Nigerians have no reasons to experience inflation in the price of food stuff.

20 fresh tubbers. I already gave out some to my neighbors as it's precious gift in this part of the country.

Benue land is very fertile. Food basket of the nation. Imagine if we had functional rail to move farm produce in bulk from Benue to Lagos in no time and petroleum products from Lagos to Benue

God will help us

All lands in Nigeria are fertile in Nigeria.

You begin to wonder why we have food inflation in nigeria......... State governments should empower local governments, to buy directly from farms and sell at a discount...........

If only this cancer called corruption would allow the scheme flourish........ An average tuber of yam in the UK is Β£6.00 (can you imagine)....... πŸ˜‚πŸ™„

One of those tubers is not less than #1300 in most parts of the South.

Except the yams are smaller than the picture is letting on...! Still, that's a shockingly cheap purchase.

You need to have a taste of these yams. Boiled, fried or pounded, they're super good

An insightful thread.

What town or part of Benue State did you get the 20 big yams for N2,500 at the bargain price of N125 per yam? [Obarike in Obi]. Is this same price of N2,500 for 20 yams the same across many Benue villages and towns.

I once watched a program where an investor in Benue said fruits such as oranges were wasting away because there was no processing of the excess oranges that are grown in Benue State.

I think strongly that Benue indigenes have to set up small to mid-size companies to add value to most of the crops you naturally produce and even export a certain percentage of the yams grown to the Nigerian Diaspora in the U.S., UK, Canada, etc, in order to bring in more sustainable income.

Those middlemen are the main cause of food inflation. Forget transportation..... Activities of middlemen is the main reason for high prices of food.
In this bad economic situation you still find Nigerias taking advantage of the situation to exploit (yes its exploitation, not business) fellow Nigerians .
No wonder my people say na fish fish dey eat dey take fat...but we are humans and not fishes
