@freecocoa, i have a Jehovah witness friend that visits every wednesday with so many of his church members. He comes with a new person @ each visit. I like the way they show love and the way they go into the word of God. But like any christain denomination, they have their church doctrine, They do not belieeve in heaven and hell fire. To them everything starts and ends here. They do not believe that after death judment follows. They have invited me so many times but because the issuue of heaven and hell,i decided not to honor their call.I always quarel with them because of that, though because i believe in heaven and hell. If they are still visiting, ask if there is heaven and hell or if there is judgement after death and hear from them urself. I am not against them, but they can't change my mind about heaven and hell and about Jesus as God. Because they dont believe that. Joining them is ur decision. God is not looking at ur church, God is concerned about your attitude towards Him. Read the bible and follow the bible!

@ Freecocoa you said it yourself; you're worried that they are stigmatized and not liked by most people. They've chosen a path that suits them and that's all that matters. You have your reasons and i think you must realize that your cross is yours alone to carry. I never said it was a dumb move, i'm smh because it's religion were talking about here and not buying a car or something else. I think you're scared the society won't accept you but should you really care as long you find solace or whatever it is you want?

@all,

Jehovah's witnesses believe in HEAVEN for RULERS and PARADISE-EARTH for the RULED. All religious pastors know this, but church traditns does not allow us to explore those doctrines, dont give up.
Am a deacon for 8years and have also being a member of ECWA before joining the force. I know JWs also believe in "everlasting damnation" and that "fire" used in several scripture means "destruction" Why can't we stop being INTERNET PARROTS repeating junks on the internet as facts.
The same misconceptions were peddled against moslems and their concept of JIHAD, against DEEPER LIFE and TELEVISION.

Yes, you be will be making the biggest mistake of your life.

1.  JWs are control freaks.  They use the bible to separate you from your family and the society at large. Before you know it, all your friends and interactions are with JWs only.  JWs teachings on the devil controlling the UN, countries, flags, birthdays all serve to make you uncomfortable anywhere outside a JW environment.  Then you can never leave them because they are all that you know after a few years.

2.  Their teachings are flawed and baseless.  Take for instance being separate from "the world", which makes them the only true religion.  But JW's are an organization started by European-Americans.  America is land stolen from the natives (native Americans) who have been mostly killed off and confined to refugee camps to this day.   Yet JWs live in this stolen land of America and have their Headquarters in NY.  They enjoy the proceeds of slavery and oils wars of America through the schools and hospitals of America.  Yet they claim to be "separate from the world".  They even pay taxes to Beast controlled governments that belong to the UN.  They are really insane then.  They make use of technology that were invented by devil organizations like the USA Army invention called the internet.

3.  They change their teachings, or false prophesies.  They claimed Jesus will return in 1914, then 1974 and then changed it to by the time everyone alive in 1914 would have died.   How are you sure they won't change present teachings after you have sacrificed your live living by them?

4.  As an African, you need to go and educate yourself on your culture and traditions and the future of your race.  These white organizations are coming from super rich countries that are busy bettering their conditions here on earth while these strange religions distract you with their rubbish.

5.  JW are probably the least educated religion in the world.  But their founders were very educated men.  They discourage education and will encourage you to walk the streets of Africa spreading a Judeo-christian religion.  It is one of the most tragic consequences of our defeat by the Europeans for them to send their non-sense missionaries to create confusion and sheep-like Africans.

6.  Any sincere humble soul, searching for answers is ice cream to the JWs.  They enjoy manipulating and controlling people, less educated and studied people at that.  There are better ways an African can live his/her life than being a Jehovah's witness.  Arrrghhhh!

fireprunej:

This is a very interest post and I must confess I have been there before. I only want to advise that you should know that there are type 1 and type 2 errors in justice and judgement; Type 1: Failure to punish a guilty offender;Type2: Punishing an innocent soul. It is preferable to commit type 1 error rather than type 2. Now in religion or relationship with God, living life and carrying belief system that teaches that hell does not exist really and there is no punishment to sinners and unrepentant souls is a type of type 2 error while type 1 is living your only known life now in the consciousness of the reality of heaven and hell. Now, I we all get to the other side of life after closing our eyes in death and only finds that there is no hell or heaven after all, it won't really matter much to one with a belief in the reality of heaven and hell. What happens to the other fellow who says there is no hell or heaven when ultimately after death, he find out that hell is real, it would have been too late. Jehovah witnesses, seventh day Adventist and other christian or non christian groups that believe that heaven and hell are not real or hold the belief that once saved, you are forever saved such as Christ Embassy, are indirect agents of satan recruiting men/women for eternal damnation with the devil and his fallen angels. The truth is, "It is appointed onto man once to die and after this judgement" - Heb 9:27. God or Jehovah has no beginning of days nor end of life. However, man has beginning but has endless life either spendable in the presence of God (heaven wherever that will be located does not matter or hell 'outside /devoid of the presence of God' wherever this will be does not matter). Summary: Have a genuine unbreakable relationship with God, fellowship with people of like mind, run from sin like a plague, live your life now and hold to belief that heaven and hell are real till the very end. May the Lord give you understanding as he appeared to me and gave me personal revelation of what I have just shared.
please sir/ma if you are not well informed about other religious organisations, i see no reason why you should lay claim or infer things that are untrue. I have been following this topic and comments by the forum members, but i did not want to comment on things that are merely hearsay. Who told you that seventh day adventist do not believe in heaven/hell? I see in your quest for biblical truth, you concluded your some of your findings on hearsay. Please make sure your findings are true so as not to confuse the op more.

Freecocoa, the following info may prove useful to you; I pray that God open your eyes, minds and hearts so that you can be like the Beroeans!

How God Conveys Truth
Actually, God conveys his messages in a way that allows sincere seekers of truth to search them out. (Psalm 14:2) Consider the message that God delivered through his prophet Jeremiah centuries ago. It was given to God’s wayward people regarding the coming destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians.—Jeremiah 25:8-11; 52:12-14.
Yet, at the same time, other prophets claimed to speak for God. Hananiah foretold peace for Jerusalem. That was a very different message from the one that Jeremiah delivered. So whom was a person at that time to believe—Jeremiah or those who contradicted him?—Jeremiah 23:16, 17; 28:1, 2, 10-17.
To know who was right, sincere Jews needed to know Jehovah as a person. They needed to understand his laws and principles, as well as his attitude toward wrongdoing. Doing so, they would have agreed with God’s words spoken through Jeremiah that “there was not a man repenting over his badness.” (Jeremiah 8:5-7) Furthermore, they would have discerned that this sad situation did not bode well for Jerusalem and its inhabitants.—Deuteronomy 28:15-68; Jeremiah 52:4-14.
Jeremiah’s prophecies about Jerusalem came true. The city was razed by the Babylonians in 607 B.C.E.
Although the consequences of disobedience were foretold long in advance, effort was needed to recognize that the time had arrived for God to take action.

What About Christian Truth?
What of the truth proclaimed by Jesus Christ? Did everyone recognize it as a message from God? No. Even though Jesus was right there in the midst of the people of Israel teaching them and performing miracles, most of his listeners did not discern that he was the foretold Messiah—the Christ, or Anointed One.
To the Pharisees who asked when God’s Kingdom was coming, Jesus himself said: “The kingdom of God is not coming with striking observableness.” He added: “The kingdom of God is in your midst.” (Luke 17:20, 21) God’s appointed Ruler, Jesus, was among them! But those Pharisees refused to open their eyes to the evidence that he was fulfilling the Messianic prophecies and to accept him as “the Christ, the Son of the living God.”—Matthew 16:16.
The response to the truth proclaimed by Christ’s first-century disciples was similar. While miracles helped to demonstrate that God was supporting the disciples, the truth was still not plain to most. (Acts 8:1-8; 9:32-41) Jesus commissioned his followers to “make disciples of people” by teaching them. As a result of listening and learning Scriptural truths, sincere seekers of truth became believers.—Matthew 28:19; Acts 5:42; 17:2-4, 32-34.
It is the same today. The “good news of the kingdom” is being “preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations.” (Matthew 24:14) This is not necessarily being done “with striking observableness”—in so obvious a way that every individual on earth will recognize it as a message from God. Yet, God’s truth is recognizable and strikes a responsive chord in honesthearted individuals who want to worship God in the way approved by him.—John 10:4, 27.
The fact that you are reading a Bible journal shows that you are likely a sincere seeker of truth. How can you determine which religion is teaching it?

An Approach That Works
Some first-century residents of Beroea were commended by the apostle Paul for the way they responded when he taught them. They did not immediately accept what Paul said as truth; still, they listened respectfully. We can learn from what the Beroeans did after hearing the message.
Note that the Bible explains: “Now the [Beroeans] were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so. Therefore many of them became believers.” (Acts 17:10-12) So their search was not superficial. They did not expect conclusive results in just one or two brief discussions with Paul.
Observe also that the Beroeans “received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind.” This tells us something about the attitude with which they approached their study of the Scriptures. They were not gullible, but neither were they cynical. They did not have a critical attitude toward what was explained by Paul, who was one of God’s human representatives.
Consider this too: The Beroeans were hearing about Christianity for the first time. It sounded good, perhaps too good to be true. But rather than dismiss it, they carefully examined the Scriptures, checking to see ‘whether the things Paul was saying were so.’ Note, too, that those in both Beroea and Thessalonica who made such a diligent search became believers. (Acts 17:4, 12) They did not give up and conclude that truth cannot be found. They identified the true religion.

How the Truth Affects People
When one finds the truth, as did the Beroeans, he is moved to share it enthusiastically. Others may disapprove, holding that it is more humble to feel that other religions could be equally correct. However, the Bible’s truth—once found—instills conviction. It does not leave one wondering if truth is attainable or if all religions might lead to salvation. Finding the truth, however, begins with an earnest examination, which does indeed require humility.
Jehovah’s Witnesses have made such an examination. That is why they believe that they have found the true religion. And they invite you to make a search of the Scriptures so as to identify who is practicing true religion today. While there is much more involved than any simple checklist could provide, the material about first-century Christians in the accompanying box on this page may help you to get started.
By accepting a home Bible study with Jehovah’s Witnesses at no cost, you can make an in-depth search of what the Bible really teaches. Learning this will put you in position to identify the true religion.

Features of True Religion
Consider the practices and teachings of first-century Christians:
▪ They looked to God’s Word as their guide.—2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21.
▪ They taught that Jesus was God’s Son, distinct from God himself and subordinate to Him.—1 Corinthians 11:3; 1 Peter 1:3.
▪ They taught that the dead will return to life by means of a future resurrection.—Acts 24:15.
▪ They were known overall for the love that prevailed among themselves.—John 13:34, 35.
▪ They did not worship merely as individuals but were organized into congregations and were united under overseers and a central body of elders that looked to Jesus as Head.—Acts 14:21-23; 15:1-31; Ephesians 1:22; 1 Timothy 3:1-13.
▪ They were zealous preachers of God’s Kingdom as mankind’s only hope.—Matthew 24:14; 28:19, 20; Acts 1:8.

@Adesteve,

You haven't made any logical humble examination!!! That is a lie your organization teaches.  How is your bible and Jesus superior to Chukwu, Amadioha or Egbesu or Shango?.  If Frederick Lugard and the UAC had not defeated our forefathers in wars, JWs won't be in the space of Nigeria mouthing these nonsense.   ALL THE FOREIGN RELIGIONS ARE A CONSEQUENCE OF AFRICA'S MILITARY DEFEAT.  THEY ARE TOXIC. How many followers do you have in Saudi Arabia?  How many congregations in Iran?  How many in Afganistan before the USA invasion?  How many in China?
They send to you to these defeated land of ours to spread confusion together with the muslims, catholics and their hybrids to scatter our societies.
Re: Will I Be Making A Mistake By Becoming A Jehovah's Witness? by adesteve: 7:51pm On Nov 08, 2011
@Drug Doc

The witnesses have never claimed to be infallible. Its only God's Word, the Bible that is INFALLIBLE.

Even Jesus disciples at one point had wrong expectations and sometimes misunderstood Jesus words. Preceding verses of Matthew 24:3 suggests that they might have thought that the Jewish system of things, including the impressive temple buildings, was stable.

EXAMPLES-

WHEN JESUS SPOKE OF EATING HIS FLESH AND DRINKING HIS BLOOD (JOHN 6:52-66)

Therefore the Jews began contending with one another, saying: “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” 53 Accordingly Jesus said to them: “Most truly I say to YOU, Unless YOU eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, YOU have no life in yourselves. 54 He that feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life, and I shall resurrect him at the last day; 55 for my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 He that feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood remains in union with me, and I in union with him. 57 Just as the living Father sent me forth and I live because of the Father, he also that feeds on me, even that one will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. It is not as when YOUR forefathers ate and yet died. He that feeds on this bread will live forever.” 59 These things he said as he was teaching in public assembly at Ca‧per′na‧um.
60 Therefore many of his disciples, when they heard this, said: “This speech is shocking; who can listen to it?” 61 But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were murmuring about this, said to them: “Does this stumble YOU? 62 What, therefore, if YOU should behold the Son of man ascending to where he was before? 63 It is the spirit that is life-giving; the flesh is of no use at all. The sayings that I have spoken to YOU are spirit and are life. 64 But there are some of YOU that do not believe.” For from [the] beginning Jesus knew who were the ones not believing and who was the one that would betray him. 65 So he went on to say: “This is why I have said to YOU, No one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.”
66 Owing to this many of his disciples went off to the things behind and would no longer walk with him

DEBATE ON WHO WAS THE GREATEST AMONG THEM(MATTHEW 18:1-5)

In that hour the disciples came near to Jesus and said: “Who really is greatest in the kingdom of the heavens?” 2 So, calling a young child to him, he set it in their midst 3 and said: “Truly I say to YOU, Unless YOU turn around and become as young children, YOU will by no means enter into the kingdom of the heavens. 4 Therefore, whoever will humble himself like this young child is the one that is the greatest in the kingdom of the heavens; 5 and whoever receives one such young child on the basis of my name receives me [also]

The poster sounds so very much like somebody he knows but please know that all churches like every other human organization have their comma which you cannot easily tell from outside. The bible should be our only guide in the christian race and we should discuss it not just shove everything down the throat because it comes from a pastor.
Re: Will I Be Making A Mistake By Becoming A Jehovah's Witness? by olaolaking: 8:01pm On Nov 08, 2011
I will be brief enough but concise. Jehovah witnesses are the most hated religions on earth at least to a certain lenght. But Jesus also said you are not part of thye world and so because of this people will hate you. You have seen yourself that these set of people are very serious with bible issue. One of those things that make people hate them is because they preach from house to house. It is so irritating and distubing tomany people. But Jehovah witnesses see it as a must for them to do as responce to Jesus order (go from house to house and teach people). What other way can a religion show that it is no part of the world. Jesu said it too. For the issue of TRINITY, HELL etc. Ask them about it and they will support whatever they say with bible. They will buttress thier ponits with bible qutations with references. But ask other religious group why they beleve in trinity and they will not be able to explain using bible. From Genesis to revelation there is no single place where Chistmas appears. Yet so many christians will not beleve this. Those that know this are afraid of persecusion which if you are a real christian must be ready to welcome.

@ poster please you are thinking well ifyou want to serve God. I KNOW THAT NOT ALL THEIR MEMBERS ARE GOOD but to be sincere they are overall more discipline than any other religoius groups.
To serve God requires determination and a lot of sacrifice but where are the sacrefices today? Churches are come as you are which Jehovah witnesses willn ever allow. Beclose to them and see love within them, I BET NO OTHER GROUP DO THIS BETTER. by this peoplewillknow that you are my disciples said Jesus

If you practise dirty life in anyway and they get you, you will be cautioned, discipline accordingly. They never welcome come as you are

I know them very well and beleve me I will be part of them. I am afraid and shy to carry bag from house to house but I have made upmy mind to do it in responce to Jesus command as it is written in the bible.

I WILL BE ONE OF THEM I GOD REALLY WANT

I have read the comment of all. However, i would like to say some important things here. For the poster of this lovely topic, No one should make decision for you. The decision to serve God should be made by individuals involved. Am not in support of seeking suggestions here since you are competent enough to make wise decision to serve God. You have more than enough proves to make decision to serve God with the help of witness. Remember that you need to verify the massage from the bible, compare and contracts the teachings from the witnesses to know if it go in harmony. For a jehovahs witness to ask you to go and verify and research on some subject matters of the bible, he must have the true and real massage to deliver to you because other will tell you that it is a mistery or beyond understanding or you have no faith. Make a wise decision from what you see and your findings.

They may be the most hated religion because they take stupidity to the highest level, literally believing that the Bible is a perfect book, an infallible word of God. It is a book written by mostly Jewish human beings, like any other book. Other religions acknowledge some limitations in their belief, but not the JW. The bible advocates genocide of babies, allows David to murder a man and steal his wife, who gives birth to Solomon the ancestor of Jesus. It is just like any other book of history and religion. Why are Africans so brainwashed and superstitious?

Go and read the Arab Muslims books, they are full of commands to kill other human beings because God told them to. The JWs will tell you those religions are devil inspired and Jehovah has perfectly good reasons for killing Amalekite babies in the bible. Well so does Boko Haram. You are all the same. Why are you squabbling over other peoples politics and religion, Arab, Jewish and European? Is Oduduwa mentioned in the bible? Is Lagos or Benin there? Why are you following something not meant for you?

Does it mean Jehovah's Witnesses are the only christian church who believe in the infallibility of the word of God?

@ ALL,thank you for your contributions,I sincerely appreciate.
For those of you who don't understand why I opened this thread, its simply not because I want a church to attend and need suggestions but because I have been considering becoming a witness and some things about them bothers me.
I didn't go directly to them cos I don't want a one sided view,I needed to hear from non witnesses too to be on a neutral ground,so please its not as if I'm depending my decisions on what anyone says here.I just wanted a general view on how they are perceived and why.
