Samson, The Holy Spirit Killing Machine Season 2 by AntiChristian: 9:57am On Feb 13
In Judges 15:14-16

As he approached Lehi, the Philistines came toward him shouting. The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him. The ropes on his arms became like charred flax, and the bindings dropped from his hands. Finding a fresh jawbone of a donkey, he grabbed it and struck down a thousand men.

Then Samson said,

“With a donkey’s jawbone
I have made donkeys of them.
With a donkey’s jawbone
I have killed a thousand men.”

Background
Samson's girlfriend was given to his companion as wife. So he was vexed. He burnt the grains of the Philistines because of this. The Philistines who happens to be the ruling class came to request that Samson be capture and delivered to them from his people. He then allow his people to catch him and deliver him to the Philistine. As he was being delivered, the holy spirit came upon him, he broke loose and killed a thousand of them! Then Samson composed the above poem!

Sirtee15, it can't get more confusing regarding this your Holy Spirit!

Why is it that Samson is always killing whenever the holy Spirit enters him?
Why does the Holy spirit keep entering him if he doesn't want him to kill?

■ Why is it that Samson is always killing whenever the holy Spirit enters him?

According to the story, God of Israel chose to use Samson as His special tool to save the people of Israel from the power of the Philistines at that time.
1. Again the people started doing what the Lord said was wrong. So the Lord allowed the Philistines to rule over them for 40 years.
2 There was a man named Manoah from the city of Zorah. He was from the tribe of Dan. Manoah had a wife, but she was not able to have any children.
3 The angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah’s wife and said, “You have not been able to have children. But you will become pregnant and have a son.
4 Don’t drink any wine or any other strong drink. Don’t eat any food that is unclean,
5 because you are pregnant, and you will have a son. He will be dedicated to God in a special way. He will be a Nazirite. So you must never cut his hair. He will be God’s special person from before he is born. He will save the Israelites from the power of the Philistines.”.. - Judges 13 vs 1 - 8
The Nazarite vow he was committed to, from before he was born, made him a tool to be used for God's purpose so long as he maintained that holy mane on his head. grin

2. Well, Samson's prayer right before the end is telling of the fact that the intention for the killings, came not from the Spirit inside of him, but from his person. undecided
27 The temple was crowded with men and women. All the Philistine rulers were there. There were about 3000 men and women on the roof of the temple. They were laughing and making fun of Samson.
28 Then Samson said a prayer to the Lord, “Lord God, remember me. God, please give me strength one more time. Let me do this one thing to punish these Philistines for tearing out both of my eyes!”
29 Then Samson took hold of the two columns in the center of the temple that supported the whole temple. He braced himself between the two columns. One column was at his right side and the other at his left side.
30 Samson said, “Let me die with these Philistines!” Then he pushed as hard as he could, and the temple fell on the rulers and everyone in it. In this way Samson killed many more Philistines when he died than when he was alive. - Judges 16 vs 27 - 30
As you can see, Samson asked for strength, not intention or desire to kill, from God. God gave him the strength and once again Samson used it to kill. undecided

Let's not get carried away. The Spirit of the Lord gave Samson strength. Samson used that strength of his to kill. That is what the story makes clear. undecided

Now, if you wish to ask whether the killings themselves were against the Law of Moses, then that is a completely different question and would require examination of each case given that the Law sanctions the killing of Israel's enemies but not murder. undecided

So what's the function of the holy spirit descending on him anytime he wants to fight?
Can we say the holy spirit is attracted by his hair?

Of course if we were to analyse the killings، they wouldn't be different from Boko haram's if not worse!

Especially the killings of judges 14 and 15.

Samson sort of answered that question for you there when he asked God again for strength, the same which enabled him to carry out his intentions on previous occasions. undecided

Attracted to his hair in what way? Numbers 6 instead answer the question for you since Samson was a Nazarite and Nazarites were commanded to keep their hair as part of the agreement. Another famous Nazarite in Scripture was John the Baptist. He too kept his hair but he didn't have the superpowers that Samson had. So suggesting the spirit was attracted to the hair makes no sense of any kind. lipsrsealed

Actually, he didn't break any law since he was controlled by the spirit.

The spirit came on him powerfully!

He killed a Lion without his need for that! That's just animal cruelty and it does not enter "You shall not kill" commandment! He killed it and left it to rot. He later liked honey from its carcass.

He had a bet with his girlfriend's people which he lost. He had to kill 30 people and steal their garments to fulfill the bet. I don't know which law was broken here. But at least, he stole, killed and frolic with dead unclean humans!

Later his Philistine lady was given to his companion. He ended up killing a thousand Philistine!
I don't know if killing is prohibited.

Boko haram believes they are killing the enemies of God! Does that mean the killings are similar?

David was a righteous man at the time he killed Uriah. David had the Spirit of God in him even at that time. Yet the Law condemned David. King Saul also had the spirit of God in Him when he did much of what he die against God. The Spirit of God is not a judge of whether an act is of God or not. Rather, He is a mark placed by God on those whom He uses or chooses. undecided

Boko Haram is local in Nigeria and not in Saudi.

If Samson with the holy spirit has the right to kill people because they are the enemies of his God, then doesn't Boko Haram not have the same right to kill people who are the enemies of their God?

What stealing and what killing? And what parts of the Law do you condemn him by? Like I mentioned earlier, the law does sanction the killing of enemies of Israel so be specific. undecided
