I see no reason for this comparism both of them are very good schools. @all of you saying that CU is substandard and is for people with bad waec results go and get ur bleeping facts straight. I am saying this cos i have 2 siblings 1 graduated 4rm cu and another is presently in UI |

There was this lecturer of mine (I finished from Unilag) that seconds as a Covenant CSC Lecturer. .Trust me, this guy didn't spend up to a session in covenant as his contract got terminated after the 1st semester exams. .In a class of over 70+, only 8 students passed the course; Pass = ONLY Ds & Es. .He eventually had to remark passing almost all the students before his job there was terminated! Basically, how dyu justify failing a student his/her parents pay #640,000 per session? That explains why we have so many covenant students graduating with 1st class/2. 1. |

I don't know when people will ever get it into their small skull that INTELLIGENCE is not static If you graduate with a 1:1 , 2:1 or whatever you call it from anywhere in the world, does your intelligence remain at that level for life The last time you can compare people is when they' re all still in Uni (based on comparism of knowledge base acquired in school) so why do people compare graduates from different university all the time. Immediately you step out of Uni, what you make out of your life is now entirely your business not hinging on whether you walk shoulder high all over saying you graduated from Fed. Uni, Poly, State Uni or Private & Foreign Unis.  |

Have you noticed that over 80% of CU students were forced into that school? And over 80% of UI students chose it as their school of choice? This is a very important fact to note. IF A COVENANT UNIVESRITY FIRST CLASS GRADUATE AND A UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN FIRST CLASS GRADUATE SIT TOGETHER TO ANSWER A FEW QUESTIONS AT AN INTERVIEW THE DIFFERENCE WILL BE CLEAR. in UI a student has complete freedom to either learn or not. That is not the case in CU. in CU they must do things by force due to the harsh and numerous laws imposed on their students. I was a border in secondary school and il be darned if i live the same way throughout my university life. Students ar sent to school not only to secure first class certificates but to know GOOD FROM BAD, RIGHT FROM WRONG . PROPER FROM IM-PROPER etc. In UI, any student who wishes to excel will do so to the extreme and those who wish to play will waste to the extreme. But CU forces their students on a path shown to them and this makes almost 50% of the students unhappy with their learning environment not witstanding the infrastructure around them. Why must a university in this day and age impose uniform dress codes, restrict student movement, screen muslim freshers, ban handsets, monitor internet activity, force worship habits etc, ? Haba , But both schools are top notch at the end, its just perspective that differs and there are real life challenges that a UI product will handle better than their CU counterpart. |

later on some kids from a kerosene background who do nothing but hate and complain about those who their parents worked extra hard to send their children to private Universities like Covenant University, Shouting and Barking like Dog's that Covenant University Standard is low because they produced 85 First class graduates. When your parents have stolen government or church money you think they have worked hard. Nemesis will catch up with them very soon. Remember, their sins will be visited on the children and children's children. |

[size=14pt]I would have preffered if the op had ommitted the abusive part of his thread. I remember when the Convenant had its first set of graduates and they produced close to 90 first class in about 1300 graduates most pple accross the country (including NLders) cried foul, now UI the the acclaimed best just churned out a set of graduate with statistics mirroring that of convenant and suddenly nobody wants to talk about it the way they did before. Covenant uni. Has shown us the way it is done:they given first class to whom it is due. They have equally scaled all the NUC accreditation hurdles in flying colour. They dared to do what no other institution could come out boldly to do, run a closed campus uni. that has produced and still producing graduate that can stand beside graduates anywhere in the world. I know alot of these public schools believe in awarding one or two first class/department from time to time. Infact the happenings of most nigerian school is no secret: ext ortion, rape, bribery, hooliganism, exam malpractice, money ritual, prostitution, etc. Infact the situation in nigeria today has alot to do with the decadence in the average public university, generation after generation have sold out to secret cultism and nobody seems bold enuf to admit it, convenant uni measures up with the best in the world both in style and in result. I dont know why we have chosen to deny these private sch.s the credit they deserve. For those of them that truely deserve it. [/size] |

KINGwax:no thats not UI. thats convenant. the first pic is UI the last two is convenant. The objective of going through a university is not to fail students. this is a nigerian mentality. you dont fail students. if you school in the west, they try their best not to fail you. they have you do other things such as attending summer school to build you up. see thats why people with archaic mentality like you are myopic. you feel universities should fail students if they fail. nah you work harder to help these students out. see you can do that in convenant because of the size to faculty ratio. they have more time for you. in the meat market called federal universities its like a conveyor belt. they try to throw as many of you away as possible because of the sheer size of the students. i went to OAU for a while and during a first year course there was like 1000 of us trying to fit into a lecture room. some people couldnt sit down and had to be outside. of course the objective in this kind of weird scenario will be to try and fail like 500 so as to reduce the size. thats a meat market not a university 1 Like |
