Fasting is very important in christianity and brings one closer to God for sure. However, fasting is not meant to be a person way of life. That is why there are dedicated times for fasting or you can fast when you need to get closer to God for a personal reason. During the time of christ on earth, he also observe these periods. If fasting was to prove anything special, Jesus would have not eaten during his lifetime on earth.
