Religion is like ones gender or the color of ones skin because more than 95 per cent of both Christians and Muslims are in these religion because they were born into it .They did not choose it just like they didn’t choose who to be their parent . It therefore makes no sense to hate or judge others based on their religion talk less of killing in the name of religion. Killing someone because he is not practicing your religion is like killing someone because he or she is a male or a female , it is like killing someone because he is a Chinese or he an Indian .
If someone was born in Imo state by parents from this place there is a very high possibility that he will be a christian same goes to some one born in Sokoto , the possiblity that he will be a muslim is more than 98% . It is God that determines who your parents would be and where you would be born . If you kill someone based on his religion , it means you are actually fighting GOD himself because the person you killed is in that religion only through Gods design and nothing more .

Because religion is for KILLERS! kiss

I was born into that useless Christianity of a thingy o!
I have come to detest it even worse than Paul abi na Saul in the so-called Bible.
Even if I am dying of the worst ailment in this world. . . I will never accept it!
No matter the tribulation. . .no matter the hardship.
I WILL NEVER ACCEPT IT.
Coming to the www has cemented that decision more than ever. kiss

The most peaceful nations in the world are those that don't stress on this useless religious concepts.
The most fun and productive people I have ever known do not believe in any religion. . .and HAPPILY MARRIED TOO!

@OP I disagree with your analogy.

Religion is not hereditary. Conviction is not coded in our DNA but it may be influenced due to environment. Either a person is subjected to a particular religion or has willingly decided which religion they choose to adhere to based on their own conviction.
Nobody has the right to decide for another human being (whether father or mother) which religion or faith an individual should abide by. A person may be forced/born into a particular religion but one can never be forced to have faith in such belief.

If you kill someone based on his religion , it means you are actually fighting GOD himself because the person you killed is in that religion only through Gods design and nothing more.

hmm undecided

@imofine ,

It is true the religion is conviction but u tell me how many igbos in nigeria are muslims , I am sure there are not up to 1% and how many huasa-fulani are christian , i am sure they are not up to 1% .

See these people never made themselves igbo or huasa-fulani .

God made them so . They have got no choice in the deciding to come to the world as igbos or huasa-fulani .

So it will make no sence to kill an igbo man cause he is not a muslim or to kill an huasa-fulani cos he is not a christian .

Who ever does so if questioning why God made them so .

@goodbobo

I understand what you are saying I just disagree with your key point that religion is inherent. Religion is not genetic. Yet it can be environmentally influenced.
I can decide to be a Muslim today and a Christian tomorrow but I cannot willingly choose my ethnic group or my gender. In fact religion is meant to operate beyond those boundaries such as race.
Being born into a particular ethnicity (especially one that largely follows a particular religion) can be a factor to how one's religion may be determined but that still doesn't make religion a birth right.
I was born in the North to Christian "Southern" parents so I guess the nuclear structure is also important as well as the environment.

Religion is different from conviction. For example as I have stated before, I was born into a Christian household and was made to adhere to that particular religion not out of choice it was more involuntary. Despite being born into a christian family (I was not and cannot be born a christian - I was nurtured as a Christian) and mimicking fellow "believers" and following particular required rites that did not fuel my faith in the Christian God at all. And today I can confess that I am not a Christian but I cannot deny my ethnicity or gender. That is largely my point. Sure, one can be born into a religious family and certain factors may determine the religion of an individual but nobody inherits faith which is personal - and a personal relationship with ones God. Religion can be forced on a person but nobody can force another to have faith in that religion or that God because faith is born within and not in the womb.
God did not make me a Christian - my parents did or at least they tried. If God had wanted me to be a Christian then there would have been no such thing as "free will" as I would not have had a chance to exercise my "God-given" right and reject what is allegedly part of my genetic make-up.

However hating someone for their religious disposition is prejudiced and such discrimination falls into the same category when a person is pre-judged and marginalized due to their ethnicity or gender. That is where the similarities end - discriminating against someone due to certain characteristics.
