Cloning is generally inconsiderate of the clone it creates.
How would you feel knowing you are just a photocopy of another human being? You will feel inferior your whole copied life and at some point might consider suicide, or outright murder to be the only one (if morally uninclined).

Those reasons do not seem to bother christians concerning abortions and contraceptives.

Prevent an unwanted birth by wearing a condom is not good but prevent an unwanted birth by desisting from cloning is good? Am I getting you right?

I am not against using a condom to prevent unwanted birth. Contraception is a godsend for family planning.
If a baby had to come out every time a man and his wife got it on, I doubt that would be very manageable.

But I think I have heard of this anti contraceptive talks from some groups before. But they are just that...groups.
I would guess they also believe a man should only have sex with his wife when they want a baby...these people of course, are free to make their own life choices.

I'm not catholic...And yes they're just a group to me. Though brethren still, all our views don't have to align.
As with anything, there is the good and the bad. One can say Contraception is good for family planning and extremely valuable for a healthy married life. Another can say it is bad because now people are, in a sense, encouraged to have sex outside of wedlock because they feel contraception eliminates the consequences (being totally ignorant of the spiritual consequences).

Like any other thing in his life, it can be abused. That choice is left to the users.

NO. I dont think clones have souls cos they (clones) are not formed from the normal fusion of the male and female sex cells. I believe clones have a void in their spiritual make-up which can be filled by any spiritual entity...even demons. Small wonder why the pope has a particular interest in stemming the development of human cloning technology. There is this belief that the antichrist will be a clone!

Nothing prevents human cloning today. Many mammals have already been cloned.

Until man can create something out of nothing, then let me know! Cloning as far as i am concerned is just child's play and the clone will still definitely have a soul! Heck when i was a kid, i used to imagine even trees have souls and communicate in their own world...The concept of a SOUL is all encompassing.

Evil Brain: The soul is one of those nebulous concepts that nobody is able to define, describe or detect. The reality is that it doesn't really exist.

If I were to ignore that fact though, I'd probably say that clones did have souls. Identical twins are clones, and I doubt if anyone will want to argue that they're not real people. Especially since many religious people think that 4 celled embryos with no brain or nervous system have souls.

Some scientists already claim to have cloned people. The techniques are well know and most animals from dog to cow to sheep to worms have already been cloned succesfully.
