I would suggest all questions be asked here (on this thread) so that we can all benefit. cheesy

Connecting beyond this space is not totally bad. Most of my guys that were supposed to go to school together met after d *admission least came out and they have been great guys. My only advice is that our identity must be real if there is any request for connection

PROCEDURES FOR THE LEGALISATION OF NIGERIAN DOCUMENTS

The documents must be previously translated into Italian. The translation can be done by the one of Consulate General’s entrusted translators:

- Miss Maria Mazzoli - Miss Annalisa Meccariello, 0806-7279958

- Miss Carla Guidotti, 0805-9588085

- Mrs Zita Andreolli Folarin, 2 King’s Way Road, Falomo Ikoyi, Lagos, Giwa Shopping Complex, Suite B 47

Tel. 08033227303 or 08024438573

Before being legalised, the documents will be subject to verification by the Consulate’s appointed lawyer who will confirm their authenticity with the offices of the Registrar who first issued them. All applicants must bring to the Consular Office the application form for the payment of these legal expenses. Once the payment has been made the documents will be sent to the lawyer to be verified.

To request the legalisation of a document the following will be required:
The original receipt, plus a photocopy, of the payment for the legal expenses;
A photocopy of the applicant’s passport or Permit of Stay (Permesso di Soggiorno) if he/she is resident in Italy;
The documents presented should be relevant to one person (documents relevant to several people will be accepted only where they form part of the same family unit);
The cost to legalise each document presented is approximately 3.805 Naira

All the documentation must be presented in original plus a photocopy.

Note:

- The documents can be collected 6 to 7 weeks after they have been submitted. Such a period is necessary to allow the verification of the documents in the applicants’ state of origin;

- The applicant will be given a receipt showing the expected date on which the documents can be collected;

- Documents cannot be collected without a receipt;

- Every day the Consular Office will put up a list at the main gate showing the names of all those who will be entitled to enter the Consulate in order to collect their documents. Only those people whose names appear on the list will be permitted to enter the building.

I have read through your post from very start, I must say you are such a wonderful guy, I have leant a lot from your posts. An going through the same thing but my is a little complicate. I have applied online to a school in Italy politenic Di torino. The school will resume this September but they told me have I to come to Italy and write a text before they will issues admission letter. I know it will be difficult to apply to the embassy without this letter and moreso, I have done the legalization and the translation with Mrs. Folatin at TBS but I have not paid #110,000. Am kind of confused now because the last time I went to the embassy at Walter carriton, I heard a lot of people complaining about the negligence of the embassy. I will like to know the name of schools you applied to then if I can contact them and see how I can enroll as soon as possible.
I will love to hear from bro.

When I applied for Visa last year, it took a while. Many times i mailed the VFS and they kept telling me its under processing, I almost withdrew the application until it came out. Dont worry, they will soon get across. And like a friend says, when its getting long, its not likely they will reject you. Keep faith bro.

abbyyworld: Hello,

You need to take your case one by one;

1. What is the name of the school you are applying too. Most school will make alternative arrangement for your test if you are an international student. Let me know how far you have gone with them.

2. If the school says they will need your declaration of Value, its better you submit at the embassy on time because it takes time as you would have seen in the previous posts on this thread.

As in legalization at the embassy?
Re: Italian Student Visa-help! by abbyyworld: 5:15pm On Jul 01, 2012
I really appreciate your concern, I applied online to polythenic di Torino for a program (automotive technology). I have submitted the necessary documents online but I received an email from the school that I should legalized all my documents at the Italian embassy and instruct the embassy to send it a copy to them, but the embassy told me that they only legalize and return back to the person that submits the documents. I later email the school about what I heard from the embassy and I also demanded a letter of acknowledgement but they told me to go a apply for visa and I should to Italy and write a test before they can issue any letter. Bro, am so confused now, I have done the legalization at ministry of education and foreign affairs. And I have also done the translation at onikan. All I need to do is just to submit at the embassy but I want to be sure about the decision of the school before I forge ahead. I will love to hear from You concerning your advise.

The name of the school is POLITECNICO DI TORINO.
They did not tell me to declare any value, they only told me to get a visa and come for the on September 15. But the issue is that how Am going to get a visa without an admission letter.

Or otherwise look for another school.I have tried to check d school up but didn't see much details except that they ahave posted names of people that got admitted. Even if you get the letter, is it wise to spend so much to go do test that they may say you didn't meet cut off?

Hello,
Once again bro I really appreciate your concern. I was at Walter Carrington today(Italian embassy) and someone explained to that the Italian embassy is now in charge of admission for schools in Italy. During the time of submission of documents for legalization that they will issue a form which will contain the space to fill the ne of the school and the name of the program of study. After you have been cleared for legalization, the embassy will send your name and copies of your documents to the school through email. Later the school will invite you to come and write a test and you will apply to the embassy with the invitation given by the school.

I think you are talking about pre-enrolment... Some schools (including the one i got admitted to) now conduct the pre-enrolment procedure themselves especially for courses conducted in English. All you need do after been admitted is to legalize your documents and get a declaration of value. I guess you are going for undergraduate study?

It takes some time and you may not be able to determine or influence it. If the applicant is a 1st time traveller, it will take some time. If the applicant works for a company where people frequently go to Italy, they will classify the application as high priority. Many factors would influence the time really.Cheers.

You will be issued a declaration of value after the authentication by embassy lawyer.

Although I have no up to date information to give regarding the current Visa procedures at the Italian Embassy. I can understand the challenges the poster is going through. I have received student visas twice at the Italian consulate before. The first I got abroad and the second I got here in Lagos.

The process abroad was pretty straightforward and I had no problem getting into the Embassy even without a prior appointment. My visa took about 3weeks to process, and that was because I didn't present my account statement on time. I needed to get money from Nigeria to buy traveller's cheque worth 8000Euros to present at the embassy. The Embassy called me for my visa, the evening of the same day I submitted photo copies of the cheques.

But when I applied from here in 2008 to return for my Masters, it was impossible getting an appointment at the embassy. That was long before the VFS thing, so everybody went to the Embassy. Touts had a field day. After hanging around the Embassy for three straight days without getting an appointment, i came back to Abuja. Luckily I was able get a timely intervention from Min. Of Foreign Affairs in Abuja. So the Embassy gave me an express appointment. My school also pressured the Italian Foreign Ministry in Rome to reach their Embassy here, cos I was already two weeks late for sch...

I think you should reach out to your school to intimate them of any challenge you are facing. Also try to pay your fees in full so as to be extract some commitment from your school in this regards.

Best of luck

I really thank you all for enormous contribution towards prospecting student life.
I will like to ask one or two questions

1. How long those it take to get a study visa
2. I have been given an offer letter to proceed with enrollment payment of 2500 Eur, without asking for legalizing of any of my document, though its a diploma course. Will these not affect the visa issuance?
3. The amount that will be good enough as proof of fund on bank statement?
4. Applying from LAGOS OR ABUJA, which is better?
5. Will i be needing health insurance, ticket reservation and hotel booking?

Please, i will appreciate clear answers to these questions.
GOD BLESS

Responding to the best of my knowledge

!. Its hard to say as the embassy is not that organised like UK. It could take between 3 weeks and 3 months.

2. It shud affect Visa but as you would have read in the previous comments, some of us risked it without it last year and we were given.
3. I always believe the best amount to be in your account is at least the total of your first year tuition and living expenses
4. Since they are not likely to call you for interview, either of the embassies should be ok.
5. My experience shows that you may need proof of accomodation and health insurance. However, my school stated in a letter they gave me to the embassy that they will arrange the two so i cant authoritatively say that they will insist on that. Flight reservation - I do not think so

Thanks, appreciate so much.
My little concern about it all is that the legalization might affect and getting it might take much time before applying.
I think I will rather prefer to use the embassy at abuja rather than that of Lagos.

PLEASE!!!! can u give me an estimate of accommodation in TORINO? and would you advise me to use hotel reservation because the Institution has no accommodation for now though I spoke with one of them about it and She says it might be possible getting a cheaper accommodation while the graduating student leaves by September.
