Simple interpretation ======> we have various feelings which are stimuli e.g hunger , sex  , safety concerns e.t.c with each having an over riding influence over another, dependent on it's critical level . . .Thus, an hungry animal who is about to feast will abandon his food and flee if danger lurks around . . . . . .an indication that the critical need to stay alive is greater than the stimuli of severe pangs of hunger . . .
