National assembly can't keep electricity for the few hours of meaningless gathering.

Shame.

Are you dumb? Kanji can't serve . Not even 3kangi dams. We are so far behind in generation. I don't know why this isn't an emergency project. If i were president, even fund will go into increasing generating capacity to atleast 50k MW

In as much as we continue with a centralized system of power generation & distribution no amount of effort or funds invested we work

Let every state generate and power themselves, decentralizing is the best shot at promoting efficiency

What exactly is still keeping this man in office?

We used to have at least 12hours electricity a day but now, we barely see 4 hours in a week.

It has gotten that bad

How? A damn whose capacity doesn’t exceed 980megawatts? Nigeria needs over 33,000 Megawatts

You are right, however, the problem with our power supply has nothing to do with tribe or 'who we elect'...it has everything to do with not letting the power sector control the price it sets for power

You can't do much if you cannot control your prices.

This man again. Who controls the power sector? Who appoints the person in control of the power sector? Is it the duty of you and i to tell the minister of power how to run his ministry?
If yes, then both the minster of power and whoever that apponted him are incompetent.

The f00ls who support them know they are incompetent but still support them because of Tribe and religion.

SO, let them follow the experts and allow the power sector set its prices then

Join??
I'm the true son of my Father & I'm very very proud of my tribe. And if my tribe's man is not making sense, i will call him to order.
But in Nigeria & on Nairaland, people who chat on "Free mode" because no money for data, people who buy fuel at N1200/Ltr, people who don't have up to N17,000 in their bank account keep supporting incompetent people in power due to tribal/religious affiliations.
THAT'S MADNESS!!

Yes, especially since it is vetted by experts...as put nicely by this article..

In 2013, Nigeria decided to privatise the sector. But 10 years after, the expected yields from the privatisation of the NESI have been hampered, in part, by the inability of the Distribution Companies (Discos) to charge cost-reflective tariffs.

As a result, all operators in the NESI value chain have been affected, effectively constraining investment in the downstream, comprising the Discos; midstream, where the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) holds sway and upstream segment, comprising the gas producers and Generation Companies (Gencos)
.

With such constraints, although total national installed generation capacity stands at 13,000MW, Nigeria barely manages to get a third of that to where power is needed. The rest is stranded

Note, apc, pdp, or me did not say this...it is the experts.

Stop writing nonsense; Kanji Dam can deliver only 700MW of Electricity, which can barely meet the requirement of Niger state. Nigeria requires a minimum of 60, 000 MW

this is what you wrote

Let's take it in bits...

This man is very useless. Although kanji dam alone can serve the whole Nigeria light

Kainji has a capacity of 760 mw.

For Nigeria to have light 24/7...for people on the grid...

1. GEJ's minister said we need 20000mw for the cities on the grid to have 24/7 light

2.discos in 2023 put it at 33000mw

SO, unless you have a magic formula....

2.
but those big men involve in Generators and Solar business has refused the initiatives of us getting constant power supply

Well, nice theory, but as the experts say

Stakeholders in the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) have advocated a cost-reflective tariff to drive the needed growth.

This is as Nigerians decried the poor performance of the sector after ten years of being privatized. The privatization of the NESI, which took place in 2013, marked a new beginning in Nigeria’s energy sector, transitioning it from the era of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) to a system of private investor ownership and participation.

However, the progress in NESI, post-privatization has not fully met the lofty expectations outlined in the National Electricity Power Policy, 2001 (NEPP), the Electric Power Sector Reform Act, 2005 (EPSRA) now Electricity Act 2023, and the Road Map for Power Sector Reform, 2010.

Speaking at the ongoing 2023 NESI market participants and stakeholders roundtable in Abuja, Sani Bello, chairman and board of directors of Maingtream Energy Solutions Limited, stated that the absence of a cost-reflective tariff has represented a major challenge that must be addressed to provide sustainable liquidity for the entire value chain.

He explained that the ever-present liquidity challenge exacerbated by inflation and a dearth of foreign currency has continued to affect the industry’s operations.

“While we acknowledge the effort of the current administration in trying to resolve and improve the foreign exchange environment, we look forward to a way out that will midwife an enabling environment for existing and prospective investors to thrive within the NESI.

“What we continue to tackle today is the lack of cost ‘reflective tariff that will provide sustainable liquidity for the entire value chain, strengthened laws and enforcement of these laws that will criminalize and deter energy theft as well as non-payment of electricity bills,” he said
.

Nothing to do with generator men and women, everything to do with lack of...cost reflective tarrif.

So you think the commander in Chief & the minister of power still have no roles to play in achieving what you just typed there?
You are a typical example of the category of people I'm referring to.
You are supporting slowpokes after buying fuel for N1200/Ltr, having just 3hrs electricity in a day & typing on "Free data mode".
That's the "suffering and smiling" fela sang about.

Well, looks like you don't want to believe the experts.

Okay, enjoy your knowledge or lack thereof.

You guys don't want anything that challenges your belief, meanwhile siccesive government have been forcing the power sector to charge below production cost meaning they run at a loss.

And you expect magic in these circumstances

Good afternoon. You don't want to believe industry experts and stakeholders, no wonder.
