UK too cold, but I tried. Had more fun in Turkey

Sorry,

I didn’t feel the cold maybe because I’ve lived in New Jersey & New York City before.

The major issue I had with London was the darkness that occurs around 5:00 PM daily.

Still hope to visit Istanbul one day.

You mean you left Nigeria since 2011?

Wow! That's a whole lot of years outside the shore of this beautiful Country called Nigeria. 8years is no moi moi. A lot of things must have happened within the past eight years, either as a student or a hustler in a country where things usually work out as planned when you chose to put in the works.

I can see and sense lots of transformation in you. Financially, Mentally, Physically, Ideologically, etcetera.

Pls, make sure you buy us those beautiful UK chocolates. I have missed them a whole lot.

Reminds me, make I offload chocolates now.

Maybe.

I’m not very used to winter. Glasgow was even colder than London.

I also had issue of shorter day. But again, it is about the time you’re visiting. During summer, sun sets as late as 9pm.

Istanbul is nice - a big city with a lot of historical monuments.

Exactly,

Hopefully normalcy be restored soon.
Are you traveling back to Nigeria for good?

Hence the one way ticket.

I believe you are referring to E-gates. And can be used by those carrying a passport from the countries in the attached image. Captured from Heathrow CPB page.

Alexandre7:

I’m not completely sure but I do know that on the Big Screen T.V. there’re two lanes:

Lane One (which’s the smart gate): British Citizens, EU Citizens, U.S. Citizens, Canadian Citizens, Australian Citizens & New Zealand Citizens

Lane Two (which’s the regular Line): Other Nationalities

Maybe I completely missed where it’s written that
Japanese, Singaporeans & South Koreans are allowed to use the smart gate,

I’m not really sure at this point but will make an effort to double check on my way back to the states if I decide to make another stop in London.

Beautiful thread Alexandre7

I want to know please:

Amongst these 4 places: UK, US, Canada & Australia; what order will you rank immigration and citizenship for someone coming from Nigeria?

Others who have travel experience please feel free to contribute so that nairalanders who wish to immigrate can get better pictures to help their decision.

Thanks.

Depends on your skills & qualifications

Easiest to Migrate without family sponsorship are Canada & Australia

But usually if you’ve one of the above Passports then you don’t really need the other one,

I might be a little biased but personally my order would be:

(A) United States

(B) Australia

(C) Canada

(D) United Kingdom

This is one problem I have with dating an abroad based guy- no one thinks you love him or have genuine intentions. They always think it is about the papers. I have been with one before and I found it very embarrassing that most people saw him as my meal ticket. When we had issues that threatened us, what I kept hearing was "don't lose this OPPORTUNITY". Sometimes I will go cold on him, because I was fighting all the plenty side comments OPENLY implying I was gold-digging him. Not like he walked up to me saying "hey, I stay in obodo oyibo".

But then, don't abroad based guys need love/wives too? The green card is an extra perk. We all want each other for something, don't we?

You again? Hehehehehehe

One thing I have learned from this thread, any girl that really wants to get married should just relocate from bad mouth people.
Nobody is perfect, no matter how good you are, people would still talk trash about you.
Some would even talk as if they have seen you doing anything bad just to rubbish you.
You know how guys are, they must ask questions before they make the needful moves, unfortunately they would meet people who have evil heart so some of these girls.
The demarketing is real.

guy I Head if u born a baby in some american state u become a citizen. is it true. and if I lived abroad can I learn d language in like 5 years?

No,

It’s not true.

Only the baby becomes a U.S. Citizen.

You don’t need to learn the language since the official language of the U.S. is English which’s also spoken in Nigeria.

The room cost is some people's monthly salary cheesy

The federal government needs to increase the minimum wage again to match the cost of living.

But you know with Nigeria is a different case entirely.
