As a Yoruba + Igbo man... I think I will always go with my Igbo blood on many issues...

My late dad had to send me to Onitsha where I stayed 7 years, Nna men I learn life and business in a whole new level...

When I returned to Ibadan, I was tactically equipped.

Patience, savings, loss to gain, the way I sell to a customer buying a pieces you will think he/she is a God, customer service ..sometimes I load the goods myself, drive it down to there location..even when the gain is just #200 ... It takes Igbo blood to do that .

Proud to be an Igbo + Yoruba blood

Whatever you are Yoruba still leads in business.

Clustering in a location of largely one ethnic group before you can do business does not make for a good business trait but it does help when you are not as astute and business savvy as the Yorubas.

Igbos too are very good but Yorubas are better in business.

I have given a lot of examples...
You can disprove me wrong sha if it is not true.

Yorubas are the only business people who have managed businesses sucessfully for more than 60,70 years and still counting.

Yorubas are the business people who have gone abroad with nothing and built multi billion dollars and multi billion pound sterling businesses.

Yorubas are the ones who have the largest number of verified business people in Nigeria.

Yorubas are the biggest importers in Nigeria.

Yorubas have the 2nd largest foreign exchange earner for Nigeria...after oil...for a long time now.

Yorubas have the largest indigenous industries in Nigeria.

Yoruba business people have shown resilience and great business acumen even in the face of bad policies when they were in opposition and they still survived more than the favoured businesses.

Yorubas were the earliest rich and famous Nigerian business people. No people were before them.

Yorubas are the only people who have posted 114 business people both home and abroad who have attained the billionaire state. Some in Naira and some in Dollar. We are not talking about ghost billionaires but people that can be verified with a click on your phone.
I say kudos to Igbos but better and louder kudos to the Yorubas because of their great business exploits at home and abroad.

[s]Amen.Thanks.I like Igbo people because they are industrious just like the Yorubas and Hausas but they like to arrogate good things to themselves and malign others. They have been mouthing this business thing a long, long time that we have come to believe this fake belief.

We only look at their clustering in locations and the sudden takeover of a few places especially in Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria.

I did a research and wanted to know why Yorubas are said to be richer than the Igbos when we all believe that Igbos are economically more buoyant than all Nigerians.

I got to know that the clustering is one of the main thing that makes people think Igbos are in business more than anybody coupled with their large population in Lagos. They do the clustering in Aba,Onitsha too.

The final result of the research was that Yorubas are virtually participants in all the businesses dominated by Igbos and Igbos too are in the businesses dominated by Yorubas.

The places Igbos dominate are some markets in Lagos like Alaba,Ladipo,Trade fair,Computer village,Yaba etc.
Yorubas too dominate Owode onirin,Pelewura,Oshodi,Lagos Island...Enu Owa,Balogun etc,Oja Oba,Ijora,Oyingbo etc.

As Igbos dominate phones,Generators,Electrical parts, spare parts, okrika, leather shoes, bags etc.

Yorubas too dominate Iron rods and steel,Poultry and feeds,Plastics,Cereals,Rubber shoes,Seafood,Woods and plywoods, glasses,Vehicles etc

The truth is that Yorubas are more resilient in business and have greater and better business acumen than the Igbos, they have higher spread, durability and mostly more successful but they do not have the population of the Igbo especially in petty businesses.
All in all,Yorubas are better in business than the Igbos[/s].
Fantastic nonsense. How many businesses, manufacturing, production and service industries in the whole of the SW on a percentage basis are indigenously owned by Yorubas? all over Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti states all the major major and petty businesses are either owned by Igbos or other Nigerians and foreign investors with few sprinklings of Yoruba owned businesses...major importers and distributors in Lagos ports are heavily populated by Igbos as well. Meanwhile Go to major industrial hubs like Nnewi, Aba, Onitsha, Akwa etc and see how Igbos monopolize and control 99% of commercial industries... Yet you have the guts to compare yourselves to Igbos? Lmaooo, simple task just conduct a poll or survey on social media and ask which tribe is best at commerce, economics and business in Nigeria... then come back and show me your result.

Rummage through my past posts.

It's your data, not mine.

You think I'm going to fall for your cheap emotional blackmail?

Lol.

Try harder.

My comments here are very very mild compared to those your brothers and sisters here spill with reckless abandon.

I bet you expect us to keep quiet and swallow it, right?

Besides, telling me to respect the name, Jesus is absurd. I haven't told you anywhere that I'm Christian, have I?

Another long epistle of baseless rants replete with lack of facts and appreciably sound logic. Dude If I make a list of well known Igbo business tycoons who have a made a name home and abroad, it will easily rubbish that list of nobodies you painstakingly listed there grin, I'm not for the list compilation nonsense otherwise this thread no go contain both of us. Here are cognitively delivered facts/tweets from a sound Yoruba man who is honest enough to know his facts via research. You were never and will NEVER be a competition or form a worthy comparison anytime soon to the Igbos when it comes to commerce, business and industry. I have inundated you with facts of all the business and manufacturing industries homogeneously owned and controlled by the Igbos in the East, unlike the South West where the ownership of major firms and businesses are evenly distributed and not dominated by the Yorubas! even Ladipo has been taken over completely by the Igbos who have now displaced your brothers and forced them to wail and lament to Tinubu to come save them... if the Yorubas had anything or were anywhere close to having business acuity as you claim, they shouldn't be struggling so badly to dominate the Ibos even on their own turfs! you had your chance to completely displace the Ibos in the areas of commerce and business management skills after the Nigerian civil war when you flooded all the civil services, service and manufacturing sectors, economic auxiliaries, banks, corporations, markets etc with your brothers at the expense of the Ibos who were struggling due to severe post war anti-Igbo policies initiated by the government to cripple the Ibos for good... Ibos had to deal with the upheal task of getting back to all the mainstream nerve-centers of Nigeria, and we rolled up our sleeves and to the nitty-gritties of rebuilding with little or no support... you succeeded only for a short while, but the Ibos completely caught up and are now ahead of you however marginally in all the indices of achievements you can mention now.

I really dont understand what you meant by clustering. Should the electronic dealer leave the market for electronics and go open electronics shop at a building material market? Biz doesn't work like that bro. They are where the type business they doing is done. Even in the same market somebody selling TV can never go to the Radio section to open a tv shop.
And nobody is saying Yorubas or Hausas dont know business. The fact is Igbos are the masters and no argument about that. How many Yorubas are business men/women in Sokoto, Jo's, Maiduguri, Kano, Kaduna not to talk of SE and SS states. Even in SW states Igbos match pound to pounds or even more to Yorubas. All those names you listed are not upto one LINE at Alaba or New Market Onitcha.

So bro, nothing to disprove or approve only that you leave in denial of a simple fact know to all even other african countries know it. How many non Igbo Nogerians have a commercial biz in Ghana, Angola, Ivory Coast, Mauritius, Senegal, Togo, Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, South Africa, Zimbabwe?

Business is not only about petty trading. This is why the total IGR of all the states in the East is not up to that of Ogun state only.Petty trading does not build an economy like industries which Yorubas excel in.
Business is about resilience, spread and success and only Yorubas have demonstrated these traits.Business is not about causing nuisances but benefits.
Clustering does help as I said but the greatest gift in business is business acumen and success.Yorubas have been the most successful in business both at home and abroad.I believe that Igbos are just in the kindergarten level of business.
You will agree with me that Yorubas have been more successful than Igbos in business because they have passed the level of clustering just like the whites.

All in all,Yorubas are better in business than the Igbos.
Lolz.
You forgot one very important factor which made Igbos take d 1st price.
You talked about Lagos, yoruba land, where d Igbos are matching d yorubas almost pound for pound if not doing better.
What of d markets in d east,Aba,Onitsha, Nnewi etc? What is d stake of d yorubas in those places? You already know zero is d answer or less than 1%.
What is the percentage of d Yoruba vs Igbo stake in business in d other 4 regions in d country ?
You already know d answer grin

I know an igbo man whose wealthy now.... Back then the people that knows him said he use to call his wife his Madam for shop.... Because the woman is pretty and has a beautiful voice that he noticed customers feel more conformable buying from her.... He immediately turned himself to boy boy....

When people ask of goods he will ask Madam for the last price they can give customer.... Meanwhile he the owner of the business and knows all the prices... But he didn't mind @all because he's an igbo man....he don't care looking like shop helper IN HIS OWN SHOP provided the money is coming
Igbo man will be driving a tattered pickup truck as his only car even to church while his wife will be pushing a rav4 or sweet Camry.
If you like, insult him and his pickup,he doesn't care.
Na d day wey problem that only money can solve comot una go know who is who grin

Only the illiterates deal in imagination,Yorubas deal in facts and the fact is Yoruba are more successful than Igbos in business either in Nigeria or abroad.

Stop being an ostrich and a failure.Successful business people are not ghosts.

USA people are successful in businesses, we know their names and businesses.

China people are successful in businesses,we know their names and businesses.

Yoruba people are successful in businesses, we know their names and businesses. I have personally posted 114 successful Yoruba businessmen.

All you Igbos have been doing is ranting.
Post your business people and let us compare if you are not kindergartens in business compared to the Yorubas.

You are a failure to the young Igbo guys following this thread. You have consistently changed monickers but still failing and getting F9.

Post your business people if you are half as successful as the Yorubas This is why the World bank said Igbos are the poorest in the South grin

A scan through my handle will say otherwise but nevertheless gala sellers are not less human. There is dignity in labour.

I still maintain, the only recognized market far and near in Lagos are Alaba, Tradefair, Balogun, Ladipo, Computer Village. Any other one is what we refer as Eke market, Orie Market, Nkwo Market and Afor Market. Where u buy foodstuffs and some home DIY tools.
Eke, nkwor market get level.
Nkwor nnewi is a big market. Eke awka is big too.

Chestbeating as usual.
Ogun state GDP alone is more than the entire South East.
According to these illiterates, the entirety of the economy equals petty trading. Different tribes have their various business niches by which they're more dominant in. That you're into petty trading (of mostly secondary goods) does not invalidate or make you better entrepreneurs than others.
