No personal experience, heard a lot of stories from my dad and also alfas in my hood.

I heard from my dad the possibilities of communicating with jinns, the process is quite fuzzy now, what i can remember is that you need a young person especially one who hasnt had any intimate relations with anyone. The young person can see and communicate with these jinns after many rituals and incantations(mostly the name of the jinns).
Some people use them to inquire about lost persons and also some people use them for other purposes like fortune or knowledge.

Heard about people being possesed by jinns as well, saw some few peeps who were said to have been possesed, them no dey ordinary o, crazy tins.

Now the info i got from an alfa, he told me he can give me some incantations i can do to call on a jinn, the timing and what i should do when eventually the jinn comes...he told me the jinn may come in form of a raging fire or a lion or some very dangerous creature, he said if i should get frighten then i would be in trouble(might go insane from there)...did i try it? Hell No, he(alfa) himself behaves funny, might well be thaat he himself is possesed lol. There are other stories, but i'll stop here...
I know you have something up ya sleeves, o ya lets hear.

I read these stories by Jarus some years ago. They frightened me.

Apart from the attack on a family member which by Allah's mercy, Qur'anic recitation solved, and the one narrated by Nairalander Bindex, a non-Muslim, let me narrate some other real life cases of exorcism in Nigeria here and some abroad.
LAGOS
Some years ago, this Muslim lady started behaving strangely and it was established taht she was attacked by jinn(mind you, not all strange behaviours are cases of Jinn possession, there is physiologically-induced mental imbalance as well, and the solution here may be taking the victim to Hospital.). Alhaji Akindele, an Ibadan-based Islamic scholar, who is well-known for treating Jinn attack, was invited(we invited him in that our family case too). He prepared the environemnt and started reciting these verses on the afflicted lady. It became very intense, and suddenly, the mother of the lady ran out Unclad and told Alhaji to stop what he was doing, that she sent the jinn to her daughter when she refused to join witchcraft she had invited her to. Alhaji told her her power is set to doom and he continued with the recitation and the jinn eventually left the lady and she got well. Allah is wonderful

ABUJA/KADUNA/IFE/LAGOS
This story was narrated by the person involved herself. It was in 1990/91 session in OAU. She was a Muslim, though just nominal. She was coming from JC party in the midnight, around Pharmacy building, to her Moremi hostel. Suddenly, she saw a black dog pass behind her. Shortly after, an extremely handsome guy was calling her from the back. She looked back and the guy walked up to her. A very heavy toasting started, till they departed as she entered her Moremi hall. She agreed to the guys proposal. The relationship had gone far when the 'guy' revealed to her that he was a jinn taking human form. The lady confessed that the guy made pleasurable sex to her etc. She became rich and just after three years of leaving Ife, she already had houses in Lagos,Kaduna and Abuja through the satanic forces of her jinn 'husband'. Deep inside her, she wasn't happy with what was going on, but her 'husband' had threatened to kill her if she revealed what was going on. One day in 1995(can't recall the exact year she said but around 1995) she sid she attended one programme in National mosque,Abuja and the lecturer was talking about the power of Ayatul Kursiyyu(Q2:55) and he mentioned its potency in warding off devil attack. She said she started reciting the ayah every night, and one night, her 'husband' appeared to her with axe threatening to kill her. She engaged her in fight and she was able to overpower him. The jinn disappeared. She woke up only to learn that her houses in Abuja, KD and Lagos were all burning, simultaneously. She lost all the wealth she acquired as a 'wife' to this jinn. She has now returned to her normal life, still fortifies herself with the Ayatul kursiyyu and other verses. Looks very hard to believe but happened in Nigeria here.

^The funny thing about that Jarus' story was that bindex is an atheist and yet he admitted that the supernatural exists. Na wa.

There is a real life story on Nairaland told by a non-muslim who was having attacks from Jinn and was able to ward them off with Ayatul-kursiyu.
Let me try to google it up.
Hope am able to find it.

I think this is the aspect of Islam I know most about. I read a large quantum of materials on it and have many life experiences on.

This was one of the subjects in Islam that solidified my faith in Islam, although I never doubted this deen before.

You seem a keen observer of the paranormal. I don't go looking to learn about such stuff but at the same time I was exposed to some deep stuff about the afterlife called Barzakh in my late teens. That is more creepy than this stuff. It triggers-off your sense of the futility of life and the hurdles you will/might face after death.

^See what I mean? Well I don't know what you want to know or why but let's say it is the middle stage between this world and Al-Qiyamah and what happens after judgement. The dead exist in barzakh either in enjoyment or suffering (May Allah save us from that). They have no impact on us in this world but we may be able to affect them sometimes through prayers, payments of their debt and doing certain acts of worship/Charity with the intention that the reward be recorded in their favour. Of course this applies to only Muslims. And no, there no such thing as ghosts, no reincarnation or second chance.

Interesting stories...

Let me share some of the ones i have:

I heard this one from Shaykh Hasan Ali, a personal experience for him, it happened in the UK:

They found an Old RAF building that had been deserted for 20 years, they were going to start using it as a madrassa. It is a big building so they started from one corner of the building. The plan was to slowly start using the rooms as they expand. The building by the way had 120 rooms and about three different halls. Massive, massive structure. It had an east and a west wing E.t.c.

They were utilising a few rooms (about 7 or 8 rooms) in the east wing. Of course the teachers told the young people not to go to the west wing. Shaykh Hasan was a young man then, and you know what happens when you are told not to go somewhere, that is when you want to go... SO he went with a few friends to the west wing at about 12 noon, there were about 8 of them. As they were walking, they can hear the doors banging, things opening , the whole works.... Of course, they ran away, reciting anything they could as they ran, you get the idea... grin grin... According to him, this place was really spooky (remember, this is at 12 noon)...

One of the young kids in the Madrassa, about 13 years old from bangladesh, he didn't know a word of english, Only spoke Bengali. Shy, little boy. Now this little boy is trying to become a hafiz of the Quran, at that point, he had only memorised one Juz. (Shaykh hasan says the boy is probably married with kids now so he doesn't mention his name)

One day, this little kid strays off to the west wing and he comes back. At first, no one takes any real notice of it. In the evening when they were reciting the Quran,

This little boy came up to his teacher with the Quran and says to him : Test Me!!! He doesn't say this in English, he says it in Arabic.... This is a boy that only knew bengali, the kid suddenly knows arabic.

The teacher looks at him and he is having a laugh, So he says: Alright, read from the 15th Juz

And the boy recites perfectly, the teacher is shocked... What is happening? He tests him from different parts of the Quran and this kid now knows the Quran and even challenges the teacher in speaking Arabic. All of a sudden, this kid has got great arabic. weird..

So they assumed, miracle of God, they didn't know what to think... grin grin Just wait!!

But this kid is acting really weird, he gets a hair clipper and shaves half of his head and leaves the other. The other kids are freaking out. The teacher grabs hold of him and shaves the other half.

He goes to bed, there are about 6 in a room... At about two in the morning, 5 of the other kids, come running out of the room screaming and banging on the principals door: Jinn, Jinn, Jinnn grin... The principal gets up, goes to the room and there is only one kid sleeping. The new arabic speaker.

The principal calms the kids and puts them to sleep again and after a little while same thing happens... The principal asks what is happening? They tell him that they hear something dragging its nails (or something) across the wall and saying the other boy's name... Let's say his name was Imran.... They hear nails across the walls and the name: Imran!!! shocked shocked (in a really spooky way)...

In the morning, the main teacher had decided that the kid was possessed and ruqyah had to be done. In ruqyah, what they usually do is to recite ayahs of the Quran and force the jinn out of the body. The evil Jinns can't stand the recitation of the Quran so they will leave.

There was a problem in this case though, this Jinn was a muslim, a believing Jinn. The Jinn was a hafiz of the Quran and knew arabic.

So when the teacher was reciting a part of the Quran, the jinn counters by reciting another part of the Quran neutralising the effect of what the shaykh was doing.

Apparently, the Jinn was a young jinn who decided that the best way to play was to enter the boy's body. grin grin

The shaykh was able to figure out that the young jinn was around with its family ( a whole group of jinns) in the west wing and they would be leaving in about a month.... The shaykh decided that the best way to get rid of the influence was to take this boy back home and leave him there for a month.

SO our Young Shaykh hasan Ali was in the convoy taking the kid back home, he tries to open the door on the highway but he gets a good scolding by the teacher (Shaykh who tried to do the ruqyah).

After a month, he comes back, a shy little kid... Didn't know a word of Arabic and had only on juz of the Quran memorised.

The roadside2Islam show, It used to be a weekly (i think , maybe biweekly) show, and i used to watch every episode. They interviewed people about Islam. Once they had show on Jinns so a lady who had been having recurring Jinn possession called and was relating her experiences and in the middle of her call, the Jinn struck.

One of the most shocking things, i ve seen on screen. I think i can get the video from youtube...

Personal Experience:

This is not about a jinn, it is about the unseen though... It is one of the hardest things to describe, i find it hard to describe... Id try...

About a year or so, i decided to make isthikara over a decision. So i stood up and said a few rakats.

At the end of the salah, i had the most incredible experience, it was almost as if i was floating, I had never felt like that in my entire life (as far i remember). It was not just tranquility, one feels after salat. To be honest, it was indescribable, I felt elated, floating (for lack of a better term) .. I felt a presence in my room even though i couldn't see anything... The feeling lasted at least throughout that day ... So so incredible... I still can't describe it...

And Allah knows best...

I would be shocked if you didn't know about barzakh before. Sorry, I have no tales for you today. We used to study a book until someone borrowed it from my teacher and didn't return it. I find that most of the stories there can be easily misunderstood by those who have little knowledge and/or faith. By the way, I am not giving the book's title.

About why I said you seem to have interest in the paranormal, I said so because of the way you remembered the stories about jinn and even the thread that had Kiwi. Moreso, I know you were once intrigued by Atheism but certain "experiences" assured you that God exists. I won't be surprised if they were paranormal in nature. You spoke about it on a thread in the past.

@tbaba, why the fascination today about Jinn?

Many people have likened d multiple personality disorder to jinn possession. What do you think of that or have you heard of similar things?

Why would I have nightmares? I try to live a life that won't attract such and I also feed-on solitude as a source of mental strength.

And no, it didn't just come-up in your mind. Your subconcious mind brought it out for a reason.

Well, it is also a little sad because you see that the sister is going through a lot of struggles with the Jinn or jinns...

Many people have likened d multiple personality disorder to jinn possession. What do you think of that or have you heard of similar things?

There is a difference between a mental disorder and Jinn possession. They both exist.

Someone who is experienced in ruqya can tell if the problem is as a result of a Jinn possession or it is a mental issue. They would recommend you to the hospital if it is a mental disorder. Sometimes the outward symptoms are similar but the Quran is recited, the reaction of the one possessed by a jinn can clearly be observed.

There were two instances in the life of the prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) where a boy who was having fits: The hadith is as follows

The holy prophet(peace and blessing be upon him) taking a jinn out of a boy

I saw Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) do three things which no one before or after me saw. I went with him on a trip. On the way, we passed by a woman sitting at the roadside with a young boy. She called out, 'O Messenger of Allah, this boy is afflicted with a trial, and from him we have also been afflicted with a trial. I don't know how many times per day he is seized by fits.' He (peace be upon him) said: 'Give him to me.' So she lifted him up to the Prophet.

He (peace be upon him) then placed the boy between himself and the middle of the saddle, opened the boy's mouth and blew in it three times, saying, 'In the name of Allah, I am the slave of Allah, get out, enemy of Allah!' Then he gave the boy back to her and said: 'Meet us on our return at this same place and inform us how he has fared.' We then went. On our return, we found her in the same place with three sheep. When he said to her, 'How has your son fared?' She replied: 'By the One who sent you with the truth, we have not detected anything (unusual) in his behavior up to this time... (Musnad Ahmad (vol: 4, p. 170), and al-Haakim, who declared it authentic)

In another hadith we find a woman who was having fits but the prophet did not perform ruqya on her because it was not because of a jinn:

'Ata ibn Rabah related that he heard Ibn 'Abbas say: "Shall I show you a woman of Paradise?"I said: "Yes, indeed." He said: "A black woman came to the Prophet, peace be upon him, and said: 'I suffer from epileptic fits, and because of these, (at times) my body becomes uncovered. Would you invoke Allah, the Exalted One, to cure me of this disease? ' The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: 'If you wish, you can be patient and you will attain Paradise (for this suffering). But if you prefer, I will pray to Allah, the Exalted, to cure you of it?' The woman said: 'I will be patient,' then added: 'I become uncovered (when I have fits), so invoke Allah for me that I do not become uncovered. ' So the Prophet, peace be upon him, prayed for her." [al-Bukhari]

So yes, there is a difference.

It is possible that a percentage of people in mental hospitals are actually suffering from Jinn attacks.

To perform ruqya, one have to have Taqwa, a strong Emaan and be one who stays away from evil deeds. I remember the story of a man who was trying to do ruqya and got a hot slap from the jinn for even attempting. If you are not one of strong emaan or you are commiting sins, you would be unable to perform ruqya. Some people can perform ruqya without even knowing.

It is important that ruqya is done according to the sunnah. If you see anyone, who gives amulets to remove jinns, run away... The problem would either get worse or the person will end up commiting shirk. The jinn might leave after you commit shirk because that would reaffirm you faith in shirk. The only way is via the recitation of the words of Allah and following the prophetic way.

I remember a man who was paralysed and was able to start moving parts of his limbs as a result of the ruqya. He is expected to gradually gain full control of his body because of the mercy of Allah.

The shaykhs often try to get the jinns to say the Shahada and become muslim before leaving the body instead of just chasing them out. so you would see in the cause of the ruqya, conversations between the jinn or jinns in the body and the Shaykh. If the Jinn refuses, It is forced out or killed by the power of Allah.

There is no safe person. The prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was affected by black magic even though its effect were minimal. Allah used the occasion to reveal Surah falaq and Surah Nas.

However, you can remain fairly safe by following the things taught to us by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but know that as a practising muslim, you are a target and once your guard is down or you backslide... the shayatins are moving in and even if the can't possess you. they would try to disrupt things

Hmmmmm... ok. But life is tough enough dealing with human beings, I am not going to start bothering my mind with the unseen except for following and improving when it comes to Islamic injunctions. #Truetalk.

Tbaba, your last post is so true.

@topic
I almost had an experience with jinns. My dad was very fond of me and took me out a lot. On that particular day, we were coming from somewhere (can't remember where) and he said we should stop by his friend's. This friend happened to be an 'alfa' who also dealt in herbs and stuff. After spending some time with him, he told my dad that he's observed that I'm always with him and my dad began to tell him the many things that endears me to him. The friend said if that be the case, dad should do something to protect me from 'aye'. Lol. My dad agreed.

This man then told me to stand up and face the wall. He'd earlier asked my dad for my age and whether he was sure I was a virgin because only a virgin qualified to see 'the great one' he was about to call. I was already trembling inside as I stood to face the wall. Then the man warned that I must remain facing the wall while he called 'the great one' through incantations. The great one would appear, I must not show any sign of fear. And I should ask him for whatever I wanted in life. At this point my dad said ah no no no, he didn't want this kind of power for his daughter. Even me too had already left the wall area and was visibly shaken. The man laughed at both of us saying my dad was acting soft. Need I say that that was the last time I stepped into that man's compound?
