I am a 26 year old Nigerian guy currently an employee in an 8 - 5 organization. I have worked for about three years now having earned a bachelors degree at 22 at an american institution and a masters degree at 23 at a british uni. However, I despite my humility and respect towards people I come along, I still hear bout people calling me a big boy / acting like a big boy and all sorts. Don't know if its because of my weight/height (I'm 6ft tall weighing about 107kg ), dressing (simple but neat and good looking) or my lifestyle. I go on vacation at least once a year, hardly eat out but when I do its usually at a nice restaurant, use a mac & iphone as well as drive a honda accord discussion continues (2009) and have a girlfriend who I started dating from uni who maintains a lifestyle similar to mine . I try to be comfortable and sometimes it looks like I'm living in luxury when I hear what people say . But I dont see anything big bout how I live and will like to know from my fellow nairalanders if what I've outlined is in any way above the expected comfort zone of a nigerian youth?

Why is Osu caste practice still existing in igboland? Can't it be abolished completely? The ill treatment and deprivation is inhuman. Let us the freeborns raise our voices against it. It's our generation and we've got the authority to reverse it. Join us on whatsapp 08156446434. Or facebook stop osu caste in overland.

Hi I'm new to the forum and am trying to trace my Nigerian roots. See I'm now 32 and was born in the US in Baltimore MD to a Nigerian mother who became pregnant with me while she was in college. She was sent to school in Ameeica and was doing some sort of work with the Red Cross. When she had me she gave me up for adoption. She visited me in foster care while she still was in school up until she graduated. I was adopted at age 3 by a African American family. As I've gotten older I've wanted to learn about my Nigerian roots my ethnic group ans homeland.

I plan on doing a ancestry DNA to trace my genectic marker make up. I was posting honestly because I have some pics of my mother from my adoptive family and was hopeful that some of my Nigerian American/ American brothers and sisters could tell me a possible ethnic group by looking at her[img][/img]

Cute pics you've got there brother. A pity your mom gave you up for adoption, although maybe she had hopes that you'll be well taken care of by your forster parents. Well I suggest you search on Facebook for your mama's name. You can then trace the names you come across, her location and address. To also find out her Nigerian ethnic group or tribe, try to find out the middle name as well as the surname of your mother from your forster parents. If you can get that then it maybe helpful in knowing your exact ancestry.
Wish you all the best of luck in your search!

DISOBEDIENCE, ITS CONSEQUENCES AND THE MERCY OF GOD.

ACTS 10:1-19
CORNELUS WAS A GENTILE WHO LOVED AND WORSHIPPED GOD; HE WAS NOT A JEW. GOD SENT AN ANGEL TO HIM, TO TELL HIM TO SEND FOR PETER. AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME THE MEN HE SENT ARRIVED PETER'S GATE, GOD GAVE PETER A VISION OF ANIMALS THAT THE JEWS REGARDED AS UNCLEAN ACCORDING TO THEIR TRADITION. THE VOICE FROM HEAVEN SAID "RISE EAT", BUT PETER PROTESTED THAT THEY WERE UNCLEAN. THE VOICE BACK WITH COMMANDING WORDS AND SAID "WHAT GOD HAS CLEANED, YOU MUST NOT CALL UNCLEAN. THE VISION CAME THREE TIMES BEFORE THE MEN CORNELLUS SENT ARRIVED HIS GATE.
POINTS TO NOYE
CORNELUS WAS A GENTILE, AN OUTCASTE (OSU) ACCORDING TO THE JEWISH TRADITION. BUT GOD MADE PETER GO TO HIM AND NOT HIM COMING TO PETER. IT SHOWS THAT IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY AS IGBO FREEBORNS, AND AS CHRISTIANS TO TAKE THE GOSPEL TO THEM AND SET OUR CAPTIVES FREE. BUT WE CHOSE TO LIVE IN DISOBEDIENCE BY REFERRING TO THEM AS UNCLEAN AND UNTOUCHABLES.

--IT WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT THAT THE VISION CAME THREE TIMES AND THREE GENTILES CAME. SOME WOULD HAVE ARGUED TODAY THAT THE DEATH OF JESUS DID NOT GIVE ALL MAN FREEDOM IF THE VISION CAME ONCE OR TWICE. THREE VISIONS FOR THREE GENTILES MEANS THE WORK ON THE CROSS WAS COMPLETED. GOD IS PERFECT

--CHRIST HAD DIED AND RESURRECTED BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. BY HIS COMING AND DEATH JESUS OFFERED THE FINAL SACRIFICE AND THE BARRIER AGAINST THE GENTILES WAS LIFTED. THE GENTILES HERE INCLUDES THE IGBO FREE BORNS, BECAUSE WE ARE NOT JEWS. THOUGH SOME IGBO CLAIM THAT WE ARE OF THE JEWISH DESCENDANTS BUT GOD HAS COMMANDED YOU AND I NOT TO CALL ANYTHING HE CREATED UNCLEAN.

SOME CATHOLICS CLAIM THAT PETER IS THE FIRST ROMAN CATHOLIC POPE. IF THIS IS TRUE.... GOD GAVE YOUR FIRST POPE A VISION THAT YOU MUST NOT CALL WHAT HE CLEANED UNCLEAN, YET YOU DISOBEY.
2PT 1:21 SAYS, THE PROPHETS DID NOT THINK THESE THINGS UPON THEIR OWN BUT THEY WERE GUIDED BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD.
WHAT AND/OR WHO ELSE DO YOU WANT TO SEE OR HEAR BEFORE YOU OBEY GOD'S COMMAND!?

KINGDOMS AND NATIONS HAVE EXISTED BUT THE DISOBEDIENCE TO THE WORD OF GOD DESTROYED AND BROUGHT THEM DOWN.
IN 2CHR 33, KING MANASSEH THE SON OF HEZEKIAH BUILT ALTAR AND CARVED IMAGES TO BE WORSHIPPED IN THE TEMPLE OF THE LORD., WHERE GOD SAID "IN THE TEMPLE OF JERUSALEM, IS THE CITY IN JUDAH----HE HAS CHOSEN FOR NAME TO REMAIN FOREVER.
WE ALL KNOW AS CHRISTIANS THAT OUR BODY IS THE TEMPLE OF GOD. WHERE HE HAS CHOSEN FOR HIMSELF TO REMAIN FOR FOREVER THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT WHOM WE HAVE RECEIVED FROM HIM. 1COR6:19.
THE HOLY SPIRIT CANNOT DWELL IN A BODY THAT DOES NOT BELIEVE IN THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST. COS ONE PRECEDES THE OTHER.
GOD SPOKE TO MANASSEH AND HIS PEOPLE BUT HE DIDN'T LISTEN. SO THE LORD BROUGHT THE ASSYRIAN ARMY AGAINST HIM AND THEY BOUND HIM WITH BRONZE SHACKLES AND TOOK HIM AWAY TO BABYLON.
GOD IS SPEAKING TO YOU, TO US AND TO THE IGBO NATION/TRIBE TODAY. HE IS SAYING, YOU MUST NOT CALL WHAT I JEHOVAH HAS CLEANED THROUGH THE DEATH OF MY SON ON THE CROSS UNCLEAN. STOP OSU AND OHU CASTE PRACTICE IN IGBOLAND.

AGAIN IN NUM 20:8
GOD COMMENDED MOSES TO SPEAK TO THE ROCK BEFORE THE ISRAELITES TO POUR WATER FOR THE PEOPLE TO DRINK, BUT MOSES CHOSE TO STRIKE THE ROCK.
GOD WAS DISPLEASED AND SAID TO MOSES, "BECAUSE YOU DID NOT TRUST ME ENOUGH TO HONOUR ME AS HOLY IN THE SIGHT OF THE PEOPLE, YOU WILL NOT BRING THEM INTO THE PROMISED LAND.
GOD IS THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER MORE!. MOSES WAS PUNISHED FOR DISOBEYING GOD.
GOD HAS COMMANDED US SAYING, YOU MUST NOT CALL WHAT I HAVE CLEANED UNCLEAN, YET WE DISOBEY BY PRACTICING OSU AND OHU CASTE SYSTEM IN IGBOLAND.

CONCLUSION

YOU CRUCIFY CHRIST OVER AND OVER AGAIN EACH TIME YOU DISCRIMINATE, STIGMATIZE, REJECT AND CALL THE ONES WE TAGGED OSU AND OHU UNCLEAN.
NO COMMUNITY LEADER, KING, FRIEND, BROTHER, NOT EVEN THE DEITY WILL APPEAR BEFORE THE JUDGEMENT THRONE WITH YOU.
THE SIN OF DISOBEDIENCE, PRIDE AND MISREPRESENTATION OF THE DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST WILL STOP YOU FROM ENTERING INTO ETERNAL LIFE WITH CHRIST AS GOD HAS PROMISED US. THOUGH YOU MAY HAVE GAINED THE WHOLE WORLD AS AN IGBO FREE BORN, KNIGHT, CHRISTIAN MOTHER, PASTOR, WORKER, KING, COMMUNITY LEADER, BUT LOSE YOUR SOUL IN HELL.
GOD IS MERCIFUL AND SO COMPASSIONATE. IT HAS NEVER BEEN HIS WILL FOR YOU AND I TO PERISH. . THERE'S ALWAYS A WARNING AND PLEADING FROM GOD BEFORE HE VENTS HIS ANGER.
REMEMBER THAT RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTS A NATION AND SIN IS A REPROACH . WE ARE LIKE SLAVES IN OUR OWN COUNTRY .
LETS REPENT BY OBEYING GOD.
OSU AND OHU CASTE PRACTICE IS A SIN AGAINST GOD AND HUMANITY.
MAY GOD DELIVER US, AMEN

I have a question regarding Igbo music.

What I've noticed is that in the Highlife era (60s to 80s) Anambra and Delta were the "hotbeds" of music in Igboland. However, nowadays, it seems to have shifted to Imo (Bongo).

Who thinks so/has anything to say? And also, are Anambra/Delta/Enugu people fond of Imo music?

I am American person trying to learn about African culture what are some of the artists of the high life era

Do you shop online? Then you have to read this now!!

The Internet value chain, estimated to worth $5.8t, has brought with it a lot of opportunities in all spheres of life. The E-commerce subsector is reported worth N3.05trn as more and more Nigerians are embracing online shopping systems to procure goods, services, and products. However, this comes with a challenge: the rise of fraudsters who pose as legitimate online stores and fleece unsuspecting individuals of their hard earned cash. Today I will show you tips on how to identify a fraudulent online store.

1. Insecure Internet Connection When you open a website, especially an e-commerce website, the first thing you should look out for is the security of the connection. This can be done by checking the URL of the website, does it begin with HTTPS? If the website doesn’t, there is a high chance the website is fraudulent and you should be on guard immediately. You can also ascertain the validity of the website by checking the check out page of the website, check to see if it has HTTPS in the address bar. Some websites have a locked padlocked icon to show that the connection is secure.

Have you heard about Virony Sanitary pad?

Read this review about the product!!!

So over the weekend, I got engaged with a female friend of mine who was on her period and she praised Virony Sanitary pad. Following our conversation, I decided to carry out a survey to ascertain the effectiveness of Virony Sanitary pad. Phew, it was not easy though, I had to listen to my respondents describe the different types of flows they have. Please don’t frown, I am a guy and menstruation scares me.

May I simply just say what a relief to discover someone that actually knows what they are talking about online. You actually know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. https://www.raxotv.com/ A lot more people ought to look at this and understand this side of the story. It's surprising you aren't more popular given that you definitely possess the gift.

So, I was in an uber this morning with an African American woman who picked me up on my way to work. I don't have a picture on my account and my name is Tomiwa. She said she was wondering if the person was Japanese or Indian, after I got in, I said, no, I'm just Nigerian, in a jovial manner. She then proceeded to tell me she was married to a Nigerian man who she divorced herself from 10 years back. I was curious to know where he was from and as she was trying to make out the words, she said, "oroba." Obviously, she meant "Yoruba" right? I asked if she knew what geographical part of the country he lived in growing up, I listed a few states, she couldn't confirm any since she was jogging through her memory. I proceeded to tell he that Yoruba guys have a reputation... proceeding cautiously to see if she would jump on that trajectory and finish my sentences for me. I nudged toward the stereotype having to do with being unfaithful, as I wanted to know the reason for her divorce without blatantly asking. She caught on and affirmed that he had a number of associations outside of her, and even kids in Nigeria now (not sure if before or after the relationship). She basically let me know that she must have been part of the result of the stereotype... she said he did all the right things, even to impress her family and bought her many gifts at the beginning. I spent a good amount of the rest of the ride apologizing about Yoruba men and giving explanations. Around the end of the ride, I asked where he was from again, she said it's "oroba" but that she knows that there are two. I was like two? She said, yes, there is the one that starts with the "y" and that there is the other one, that starts with an "e" or something (she wasn't sure, but knew it sounded like "oroba" ) . I aked, "Urhobo??" and she said, "yes! that's it!" lol. I basically bad-mouthed Yoruba men the whole time.. lol.

What does oyinbo pepper mean?
What does slay queen mean? Is it what you call the instagram celebrity ladies?
Is oyibo/oyinbo used only for people of European descent, does it include non-Arabic Middle Eastern people like Turks and Iranians?
Does juju mean only African magic/supernatural practices, does it include all magic and occult like Voodoo, European and Middle Eastern witchcraft, Siberian shamanism etc?

This is what I think: Oyinbo is used for people of Caucasoid groupings. Oyinbo pepper is like the slay queen of the Oyinbos, ok no lol Oyinbo pepper just means a westernized person. Slay queen is someone so fabulous, you're slain. Juju means Yoruba magic. It is also used to refer to foreign magic in a way Yorubas would understand. So.... Caucasoid = Oyinbo. Oyinbo pepper = random term used in hyping people up by implying they are more westernized. Juju = Yoruba magic =/= Voodoo, but a Yoruba person without an awareness of things beyond the Yoruba world would also call Voodoo Juju. My opinion lol
