Last sunday my pastor touched my forehead to feel the Holy spirit and a funny feeling came over me and i fell down. I was just wondering if anybody has ever felt the Holy Spirit touch or speak to them, share your expiriences!!
Re: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by dearzi(f): 10:37pm On Apr 26, 2006
Girl, that's the best thing in life--i mean talking with the Holy Spirit, He's real, you can actually have conversations with Him. God's got a sense of humor. Like this morning, i was wondering where my fiance was, cuz the night before i'd watched "Lost World" or something like that, and Malone had gone missing, so i woke up wondering where my man was and all, and i was praying and stuff, and the Holy Spirit was like "girl, get a grip on yourself, your man's on the bus going home!" i had to laugh at my train of thoughts.

I mean, you'll know He's talking to you cuz He's on person that'll bluntly point out that you're doing something wrong. Like i have a friend that gives me agro, as she's obese and i have a hard time with her eating habits. So, when i see her, i get repulsed, and when i get that way, i hear a voice telling me "that i can love inspite of what i see or how i feel about an issue" and i feel bad and change my attitude about it. I know it's the Holy Spirit cuz when He speaks His words are in line with the word of God, and when you think well that's not in the scripture examine what He's said and what it has done for you--the words will give you peace, correct you, or heal you.

Sometimes, you can't feel Him, or expect to hear Him sound like thunder or whatever, and don't be fooled about that still small voice, cuz sometimes, in my stubborn moments i know He sharply calls me to order--that's no still small voice! being in His presence is wonderful, there's this serene, peaceful feeling you get, like a cool breeze, a warm arm enveloping you--i guess different strokes for different folks.

He's my best friend, i can tell Him anything and not be ashamed, with Him, i'm naked and unashamed, my life would not be worth living without Him. Holy Spirit, i love you--you give me joy, i just love Him. He's a friend that sticks closer than any brother,

Awwww God bless you!! I have these kind of days when something is talking to me but i can't hear nor understand what it is saying. I have just assumed it is just the Holy spirit talking to my spirit.
Re: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by dearzi(f): 11:00pm On Apr 26, 2006
Sweetie, the bible says to test every spirit, you know the Holy Spirit cuz when He talks He talks in line with the bible, so start reading your bible to know and hear His voice. Some times you can ask a question, or something's bothering, and when He answers you can be like "that's not in the bible," but you can judge it when you know who He is-- one called along side to help you, to inspire you, to teach you, to give you peace. The things we think of can never give us peace, and the devil can't give you peace either. You can't go on how i've felt, but once you start seeing how He's operated in times past, you'll know Him better. But i tell you, it's the best thing that can happen in the Christian's life.

Experience Him for yourself. If you're not sure you have Him in you and with you, just pray and ask God for the Holy Spirit, and after that prayer believe you have recieved Him. Don't wait till you hear a voice shouting "Softee, Softee" the Holy Spirit's a gentleman, but sometimes, He can be a man of war.
Re: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by Softee(f): 11:11pm On Apr 26, 2006
How do you test every spirit?

Something about me is weird. I know God is king of my life and i know he has plans for my life but i am in a strange battle and i know God is fighting half of it for me. Its hard to explain because it is deep but i am sure as a christian you can understand it to an extent.

Yes you may
Re: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by dearzi(f): 11:33pm On Apr 26, 2006
You test every spirit, or what you perceive as a thought/ idea, by comparing it to the scriptures. Take for instance you want to go out, and you're scantily dressed, and you have a feeling telling you to change into something better/ more presentable--you can bet that's the Holy Spirit, though the bible didn't say don't wear short skirts, you can see that it's supporting the scripture that says your body is a temple, and hence must treat it well--which includes its appearance. If you have another feeling telling you "just go out, afterall if you've got it flaunt it" you know it's your flesh.

Another instance might be, you have certain friends that curse a lot and are a bad influence altogether, and "your mind" as people like to refer to it, tells you not to hang out with them, but you should make new friends--the bible didn't say you should not make friends, but that act alone supports the scriptures that say "evil communication corrupts good manners, (1 Cor 15:33)" and "blessed is the man who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked (Ps 1:1). If "another mind" says "haba! these have been your friends from childhood, or what's wrong with them?" you know that's not of God, so you can test the spirits using the bible, that's why the Christian must study the bible.

We all have our moments, and i can surely relate. Don't feel bad about it, He's your Father--you have nothing to be ashamed of. I'm still young, and i don't live with my parents, but when i was at home over the Christmas, my dad would ask questions like "where are you going? when will you be back? who's taking you?" regardless of the fact that i've been fending for myself for the last couple of years. I'm in his territory, so he has to do it. Much more God!!! be excited, at the same time, determine and desire to grow in the knowledge of this awesome God.

God just blessed me in my relationship, but after that i had the nerves to ask God "but how will this happen?" i clearly have seen His power, but the child in me still wonders, but don't be ashamed of it, it's better to be that way with God and still seek Him, hold Him tight, than to be that clueless with man.

This is just kinda my opinion but i think the Holy spirit lives in everyone but some deeper then some. Because everybody has that 'coincence' telling them not to do wrong, Christian or not Christian. Does anyone agree with me?

Hot-angel

You need to ask yourself certain things: 1) Am i really born-again? 2) have i recieved the Holy Spirit? 3) if not, how can i receive Him 4) Now, what do i do next?

If you're born-again and you've not received the Holy Spirit, or you're not sure, it's simple, ask for Him, God's eager to release Him into your life (Lk 11:13). It's just a matter of "Father, i need you in my life, and you said to ask and we'd be given, i ask for the Holy Spirit in line with your word, and i believe i receive Him even now in Jesus name."

Once you've said that prayer, believe in your heart, and develop a relationship with Him. It's like making friends with someone new. Study His word, welcome Him when you pray, have a conversation with Him, you'll be amazed to find Him speaking back to you. You might think it's your mind, but with time you'll be able to recognize His voice more clearly, and when you're not sure, search the scriptures.

When i'm hurt, or feel alone, i'm very honest with God--i tell Him, i pour out my heart, sometimes i could be crying cuz i'm that hurt or lonely, and i know He's there embracing me. I can't describe it, it's just something you need to experience. When i'm happy--i praise Him, giving Him all the glory, and i know He hears, cuz it's in line with His word.

Nope. Conscience is different from the Holy Spirit. He may sometimes speak to you thru ur conscience, but He's way bigger than a man's conscience. Even the unregenerate have a conscience, and whether we know it or not, our consciences are primarily God's 'alarm clock' (so to speak) to call our attention in decisions between good and evil.

God speaks to our hearts as well; but the most powerful way I know of that God speaks to us is in our spirit.
Re: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by kimba(m): 11:47pm On Apr 26, 2006
Dearzi just said it all, in fact its exactly what she said that i wanted to say, thats why i asked if i may contribute.

Let me give my own testimony: As a student, it happened in an Adv. Maths class, I walked into the class totally unprepared for an exam. In fact, I never got news, or wind to even go over previous lectures. I had walked in before I knew what was up, so I couldnt escape and claim absence so as to give me time to study. In fact, the exam started like 15mins before i bounced in. My total unpreparedness was my fault. I sat down, got the testpapers, looked through questions 1-3 and knew nothing. I was like, im done man, so i decided to pray, and I think i genuinely prayed that day coz i was at the firefront. After praying, suddenly i discovered twas like i could hear someone whispering to me what i should write, "oya, question#1, here and there. I was totally surprised, but do you know, i answered the three questions, using about 8-pages of full-scap sheets of papers for my solutions/calculations and I was the first to finish. I heard everything. I submitted my papers, walked out, before i remembered what happened. I totally forgot about the test. When the results were released, I got a perfect score, in so much that when my paper was handed back to me, i was wondering how come i answered everything correctly. It was then I remembered twas the Holy Spirit working to tell me what i should do. Doesnt the Bible tell us he'll guide us in all our ways?  grin grin grin

Re: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by dearzi(f): 11:48pm On Apr 26, 2006
Softee, i don't think so. God's Holy and His eyes cannot behold iniquity. So if He's Holy, His Spirit is also holy. That's why, when we Christians do wrong we can't "feel" the spirit, because we've used our sin to surpress Him. The Holy Spirit can only dwell where He's invited--in the born-again temple.

Yes, we all have a sense of right and wrong, and that's what makes people choose what they do--either right or wrong. But when you're born-again, it's like having expo (i don't know how to explain it in English) it's like having inside help. So, no, not every one has the Holy Spirit.

Every one has the same measure of the Holy Spirit, it's just a matter of how much you know about Him. It's like 3 friends, two are exceptionally close, cuz they spend more time together and all, the third person's also close, but spends less time with the other two, hence will know less--but they're all friends, sharing each other. I don't know if that's the best analogy, i'm distracted now, cuz i've got a class in 14mins, but i'll tell you more when i get back.

Sweetie, just study the bible, it'll help you. Read books that teach on the Holy Spirit "7 things the Holy Spirit will do for you" by Pastor Chris, "Good Morning Holy Spirit" by Benny Hinn, they'll help you, smiley

Yes, everyone has a concience telling them the difference between right or wrong. Even the armed robber knows its wrong to steal. What makes him disobey his conscience? its not that he actually disobeys his conscience, its just that he has gotten to a level where whatever his conscience says has no more meaning, just like someone making noise.

Every hyman being(old/young)has a measure of the Holy Spirit. It takes a personal effort to realize the presence of Gods spirit in you, welcome Him as been there, and allow Him to take full control. "Allowing" the Holy Spirit to take control will entail surrendering your heart, mind, and thought pattern to God. God never forces himself on anyone. We are all free-moral agents, all free to make a choice. thats why you can see some peeps, even though they come out of good Christian families, they choose to follow evil ways instead. They made a choice.

@kimba,
It's true - He guides in more than one ways.

I had a similar experience. Maths again! Walked into the class totally unprepared, even though I knew at least no less than two weeks before then (I was busy playing Samson and Delilah with g/friend). I almost wept as I read through the questions - 9 questions to answer any 5 of your choice, and I knew none! Worst of all, I was in front row, so no cheating or even stretching my neck. Confused, and heart racing, I quietly confessed my sins and stubborness, then asked God what next to do. I didn't hear a voice, but I was absolutely certain in my heart He wanted me to walk out and carry it over. I didn't hesitate - I submitted my script and walked out. But thank God I did, even though many thought I was mentally unbalanced at the time.

Next semester, I was focused. The lecturer had intimidated us with some shakara that the most brilliant student in his class should not hope for anything more than a 'C' - and the rest of us could measure ourselves by that! No wahala: me, I never had the brains for figures before. I bowed, prayed and turned the question paper. Jesus! - I knew all 9 questions that I answered 6 and had to cancell 1 to make up my 5! Results? I came through with a clean 'A' - and the most brilliant student himself got an 'A' (he was a strong Christian as well).

Who say God no be God?  grin

Em. . . I don't know if I can agree with that. God's Spirit is not given even in the slightest measure to those who are not born again. Only born again believers have the Holy Spirit dwelling in them.

CongratulationS!, then all you'll have to do is to listen.

Its like this: it took me a long time to learn how to swim. First I thought i would drown, even after reducing all the water in the pool to like 4ft. Immediately i tried laying on the water, twas like i had already drowned, coz my mindset was fixed at drowning once inside water. All i could do was to stand in one place and be throwing my arms around, but definitely my feet had to touch the ground. I almost drowned once tho, which was coz i opened my mouth under water, grin grin until someone taught me that i should believe that the pool water could carry me, that the water in the pool weighed more that I did, and that I coudn't drown, that I should just let myself go, and release myself and lay on the water. I decided to try it, and like I dream, i didnt drown. Soon i learnt how to move forward. Now ive graduated from the pool to the beach.  grin and I can do like 15ft already. Thats it.

You must first believe that God is right there by you, and He has something to tell you. That will aid your listening.
Dont forget, you dont try hard to listen to God, its like someone trying so hard to pose, grin Just be yourself, pray for, expect and wait for God's guidance when in a difficult situation.  cheesy cheesy
Re: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by hotangel2(f): 12:21am On Apr 27, 2006
Thanks kimba.

I have a similar swimming story to urs. I was scared of swimming, but just like a miracle i learnt how to swim perfectly within 2 weeks. I just go out everyday to swim and before i knew it, i was a pro (okay not exactly). lol,

Anyways talking about the Holy spirit, I think it's actually pretty cool apart from the fact that he's always there to tell you what not to do, and what to do, and how to do watever you want to do. You just feel safe that someone is There!

But the problem is tho, i sometimes get confused. It's like My conciense, his voice, the devil's voice (which by the way, mostly always seem like the right one?). So i get so confused and just mess things up. Whenever im lucky or really lucky, i do what the right mind (holy spirit?) is telling me to do.

WHy does the devil always have to have a voice? he speaks like THAT right in your mind, and it's like his voice is even bigger than that of the Holy spirit, WHY??

Where the Holy spirit is, the devil shouldn't be. Am i lost? undecided
Re: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by Softee(f): 12:24am On Apr 27, 2006
Yeah i know what you mean hot-angel. But the devil's voice is exposed because he will never tell you to do right.
Re: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by hotangel2(f): 12:27am On Apr 27, 2006
You know sometimes when you are in BIG TROUBLE>, U won't even know wat the right thing to do is. U wont even know which one to listen to. It's like, all these voices all up in ur head, yelling and one being soft, and one being harsh and one being the one that u feel u should do (which mostly is always WRONG). I mean seriously, what would one do then? You cant even tell the holy spirit, especially when u dont have all day to choose an option.
Re: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by Softee(f): 12:28am On Apr 27, 2006
Why not pray about this. Ask God to make his Holy Spirit clearer to you.
Re: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by hotangel2(f): 12:31am On Apr 27, 2006
Actually, that's one way to go by it.

Thanks. I do pray tho, and sometimes i hear him clearly (although for some reason i doubt him). More prayers to come.
Re: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by Softee(f): 12:31am On Apr 27, 2006
Because remember that once you have Jesus the devil has no hold on your life what so ever.
Re: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by Softee(f): 12:35am On Apr 27, 2006
Yep when i hear the Holy Spirit i doubt him.

Infact there was a time when he told me to talk to him when im down, when im , when im , but i didnt hear him clearly only partially. But part of me thinks it was all in my head that there is no Holy spirit. My heart and soul belives in the Holy Spirit Deeply but my humanly thoughts do not.
Re: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by kimba(m): 12:36am On Apr 27, 2006
@4get_me

Every human is born with a measure of the Spirit of God. Yes, when one is Born Again, the Holy Spirit fills the heart of the child of God to a measure where he can now do things through the aid of the Holy Spirit.

See, the unregenerated Man has the power to silence the Spirit of God in Him, through total rejection of Gods word, continuous sin. It is the will of God that all men should be saved, but man will never be saved without the aid of the Holy Spirit. The work of the Holy Spirit in an unregenerated heart is to instruct the sinner to surrender to God, it is to convicting hearts of sin through the Word - Jn 16:7. Its not every body that got saved in Church. A testimony of someone includes waking up one morning and he hears a voice telling him he must go to a certain church and the exact description of that church was given to him, now he's a Christian serving the Lord.

Ex: Stephen told his listeners not to resist the Spirit Acts 7, this was because these guys resisted the spirit-led prophets who were led by the spirit, yet deep inside them(with the law and the prophets that they have read about), they knew that what they were doing was wrong, yet bcoz of the hardness of their heart, they wont let go. The truth is many of the sinners of today know the truth, but they dont want to obey that inner voice calling to them. While sinners can resist the Spirit, believers can quench the Spirit, coz the fact that you say you are a believe, you should be led by the holy-spirit, thats the ideal, but perhaps such a believer wants to have his/her own way sometimes, while the holy spirit has to shut up, and then later he/she is back into holy-spirit leadership,
