stop applying village sense to a national issue. the parents of emmanuel okon and victoria agboola can be anambra residents. the key is for the deportees to reunite with their families, not necessarily to take them to their states of origin!

if i am yoruba and my parents stay in zamfara, i would be deported to zamfara - that's the key!!!

PointB: Basically, there is nothing on these letters that indicated 'deportation' was eminent, let alone date, time, and venue.

The last letter invited Anambra official to come and identify 14 people who claimed to be from Anambra - including a certain Agboola. Why didn't Lagos State wait for this identification process to conclude, or write a reminder? Why nicodemusly dump Nigeria citizens in by the bridge, in the dead of the night.

Did anybody bothered to read the letter from AkwaIbom, which is very profession, and hard to fault. A genuine case of sick (mentally ill people) certified so by doctors. And only being repatriated because the genuinely need family care due to there mental state. The Akwa Ibom model is radically different, and very human in comparison to the nihilistic model adopted by the gra gra officials of Lagos State. They bungle a simple process simply due to aggravated intolerance and fascism.

Fashola is dead wrong to unilaterally dump Nigerians by the roadside, simply because they are considered poor and Igbos!

TRUTH IS LIKE AN OPEN SORE...JUST KEEP SHIFTING THE GOAL POST.

It's not a question of having been properly informed that there would be deportations.

1. Why were they deported from a state within the same country. They have the right to make their home, anywhere they choose within Nigerian, as long as they are Nigerian citizens regardless of their trade.
You can't deport a Georgia native who has made California his home back to Georgia.
Only a crazy person comes up with such as an idea.
If begging was a crime, assuming they were truly all beggars, they are to be tried and incarcerated in the state in which they are caught committing the crime.

2. Let's assume deportation from one state to another was constitutional, was the Anambra State government informed that indigenes of other states would be dumped in Anambra State as well?

agboola's parents are resident of anambra not indigenes....the process is to reunite deportees with their families wherever they are in nigeria, not necessarily the state of origin.

You see...and some idiots who think they are literate will come to the forum with no knowledge of how things work and start saying nonsense. There used to be exchange of destitute among the states. It started with Kano and Kaduna (and some northern states) trying to rid their states of destitute. A good number of them migrated to South west to avoid being sent back to their villages. The policy was then adopted by others states. if you look around, majority of the beggars are from the north...this is what prompted the Ex-of De agreements. I still believe Fashola couldnt have been so inhuman to have sent sane and able-bodied hardworking easterners back to their state for nothing. it is unconstitutional.
Without mincing word, i told one silly aproko on another thread few minutes ago that Ibos are sometimes crooked and full of deceit...(no apologies)...from experience. Obi just confirmed that. Go to Alaba or computer village and act like a novice trying to get something...those Ibo boys (and the old ones) will surely scam you. It is in their blood.
My Experience - Don't Read
My childhood friend (Ugo by name - who cares), we grew up doing practically everything together...famous around my neighborhood...His family even speak yoruba since they had been in Lag for long. After decades of living together and occasional scams by this so called friend of mine, the height of it was in 2006. He had been scotting with me for about 3 days. The night he was due to leave along with his gf and son, we went to drink while his girlfeind and his 1 year old son were in my apartment. After coming back from the drinking spree, there was no light but he and his gf n son were set to leave. Guess what, my newly bought laptop (from the States), about 4 months old, went with this guy. He also helped himself to my jewelry. I didnt know because there was no light. He took the laptop from my room, kept it in the dark in the compound...I walked them to the bus stop but left them there on his insistence. He came back to pick the laptop in the compound where he had kept it...he was seen by one of the people around. All my final year project and those who were using my laptop lost their project. I got to know how he schemed the following day. That's an Ibo boy for u. A supposedly good friend...I felt bad...
I am not saying all Ibos are deceitful but the good ones are so scarce. Even Gov Obi cannot be trusted. My point!

1. Communication was made between both Lagos and Anambra State governments.
2. Number of persons involved were 14.
3. No date was set for the repatriation or arrangement concluded.
4. Over 70 persons were dumped at bridgehead, Onitsha, their alleged family homes.
5. They were dumped in the middle of the night with no one there to receive them.
6. A crime was committed by Lagos State government against the citizens of Nigeria.

If you support the deportation of persons in the middle of the night many of whom are not from Anambra State, leaving them to their own fate, then I put a curse on you. Let the government of whichever country you are living in arrest, maltreat, torture and send you back to Nigeria for no reason. Amen.
