Opinion: Of Ese Walter, Pastor Fatoyinbo and the rest of us

The fact that he was playing mind games with her, and telling her not to expose him was the breaking point for me as a reader. If the story remains refuted, I will be inclined to believe that Ese was ‘jazzed’ she didn’t sleep with the pastor with clear eyes as my Warri people will say.

I have been seeing and reading all manner of comments and rejoinders about the lady who came public about her escapades with the popular pastor of a new generation church.

The subject matter is highly sensationalised and I was opportuned to read the original story from Ese Walter’s blog. Now, I am a firm believer in the school of thought of three sides to a story. My side, your side and the truth.

The Bible says let everyone who calls the name of God depart from iniquity. So in my humble opinion the fact that the pastor in question has not refuted the story makes it the truth, albeit ugly. The most amazing or should I say annoying are the attack dogs who have taken it upon themselves to comment and not just comment but also insult the lady who came all out to wash her conscience.

The fact that people from this side of the world work extra hard to bury the truth or even blatantly refuse to accept it is a very confusing phenomenon. In all my years on earth, I have not been able to comprehend it. Light is very difficult to hide in a very dark room.

I am not saying Ese Walter is lying or saying the truth but what I am saying is that the die hard critics should ask themselves what she stands to gain by lying or by saying the truth. As far as I am concerned she stands to gain nothing from lying to the world or falsely accusing the pastor. But she has succeeded in purging herself and getting some kind of closure by telling the world. And bear it in mind that closure is something that many of us in this side of the world don’t understand and there fore we don’t seek it.

When I was reading her story I emphatised with her and felt her pain. Imagining the enormity of the confusion that must have besieged her.

I was appalled and dazed at the same time when I read that she asked the pastor how he manages the two personality and He said and I quote ” I will teach you a level of grace that you don’t understand” haaaa! That is what I call sin with the highest order of impunity.

Ki lo de! Men and people of God depart from iniquity.

The fact that he was playing mind games with her, and telling her not to expose him was the breaking point for me as a reader. If the story remains refuted, I will be inclined to believe that Ese was ‘jazzed’ she didn’t sleep with the pastor with clear eyes as my Warri people will say.

The fact that all the people she confided in couldn’t address the issue with the pastor was most un becoming and also the Lagos Branch pastor who made light of the situation sent a wrong message across. What is bad is bad, no sugar-coating or trivialising it can ever change it. Make una fear God!

This story sounds very familiar, I have heard accounts of the ordeal that close relatives and friends suffered in the hands of “men of God” and trust me it’s not just in new generation churches, it cuts across. You will be amazed when I recant them to you my dear readers.

A friend to a close friend was taken to a pastor by her grandparents who asked the pastor to pray for her so she can get a husband and better her luck generally. This lady told my close friend that at the point of prayer this pastor told her that she can’t receive her miracle if he doesn’t have intercourse with her. Long and short of the story is that he had sex with her and she didn’t have the temerity nor courage to tell her grandparents, she confided in my close friend. I was bitter when I heard because a close relative experienced almost same with a twist some years back. An anointed prophet in Ogun state was having sex with my cousins mother, a widow and even told her that god said he should marry her. The prophet in question was married with four children and this was after his first wife died o! It was my mum and sister that rescued the woman and her family.

Also, I had the privilege of been under a certain pastor of a very popular faith and miracles ministry I attended in Ogun state. The assistant pastor who was “anointed” and charismatic on the pulpit was seriously on the case of the Vice president of the fellowship arm of that church. The lady is my sister’s friend so I saw first-hand, text messages and also listened to telephone conversations asking her to be his lady. This pastor is married with kids. In fact, in the process of carrying out her welfare duties to the pastor he almost raped her. I almost ran mad juxtaposing who this man was on the pulpit and behind closed doors when I heard him preach, this is because he was very anointed and charismatic. Then I remembered the scripture that says the gifts and calling of God are without repentance meaning that a man can be called by God, and while he is busy seriously messing up, God will still be honouring His word by backing this erring pastor with signs and wonders. This is for the people who gather to truly worship God and not for the pastor’s sake.

I am not saying that all pastors are randy, but what I am driving at is that as Christians we should not idolize our pastors. They are men before they are men of God. We should seek to know the truth for ourselves, know God for ourselves so that we won’t buy into lies of certain miscreants who call themselves men of God.

I was shocked when my boss told me that an air hostess friend of his told him that one of the jet-owning pastors tried ‘fingering’ her when she was on board his jet. She was too shocked to say no until the other air hostess who was accustomed to this occurrence rescued her and apologised to the Man of God and called my the other lady a novice. It was a gist unconfirmed but you and I know that there is no smoke without fire.

To men of God who have refused to depart from iniquity, bear it in mind that the mercy of God is forever but not His grace. Don’t get it twisted, God will judge us all and judgement will start from God’s house. If you refuse to be accountable to your church members at least respect God and the office you hold.

To blind followers who call themselves church members, don’t be slothful Christians, know God and His words, refuse to be confused. Stand up for the truth, seek the truth and be liberated.

And when people like Ese Walter decide to talk don’t shut them up. Please too many people are dying in silence, that’s one of the problems we have in Nigeria today.

I know that by virtue of Ese’s openness, many true stories will soon flood the internet. I am on the look out. The silence on the evil trend must be broken.

You must be a certified criminal. we are criticizing this thieving lying pastor because people pay tithe to him. We are criticising him because we love honesty and hate those that don't practice what they preach. I know those ethical issues don't make sense to you because your mind is crooked. You type specialise in scamming innocent hard-up folks their money in the name of fake miracles. Tell your boss the theiving pastor that all attempts to whitewash this abuse will not work. Shame on you.

Why can't we just march down to that his brothel called coza church and knock it down for good. We can't take it anymore from this crooks.

therealMcCain: From all scriptures you find that God has a way of dealing with his people and servants, it is not in our place to pass judgement on them. Leave the church leaders to the God that called them
This doesn’t mean that they cant be scolded or disciplined. There is grounds for that but it has to be done by someone who has that authority. For example, In a church if a deacon does something wrong, the pastor is there to correct that one. If it’s a senior pastor, the General overseer can do that.

But if it’s the G.O that’s does something wrong, fellow G.O’s from other ministry can do that or organizations like CAN & PFN can come in.

If he/she refuses such, you then leave them to God. It will be wrong for a member to do the scolding or disciplining. Miraims case will buttress my point

How many of you will come back from work to find out that your child has been mercilessly beaten by the maiguard or househelp, will you be happy?? Regardless of what your child has done, you feel its your right as a parent to do the disciplining!! (am not talking about a maid spanking your kid or asking him/her to kneel)

Same with God!!!!!!

It is the Pastors and not the Politicians that will end up destroying Nigeria!!! Because when it comes to them people stop using their Senses, actually lots of Nigerians Worship them and not GOD anymore ...and for that reason God has left you to your own faith and we are seeing what Nigeria is gradually turning to.. And because of the same Worship that these men receive from you... Juju Priests, Business men, Armed Robbers, Child Molesters, Sexual Perverts..etc have all gone into the Business of Pastor because they know in NIGERIA, THEY ARE WORSHIPED! You only have to have that title "PASTOR" and you are absolved from being human without Mistake or Sin, and elevated to being DIVINE. Moses, the only man that actually saw God the Father, was not allowed into the promised land despite all his labor and suffering, WHY? Because he disobeyed a simple instruction, this shows that GOD does not place any man above another... Man remains man and can never be elevated to being Divine.,.. but not to Nigerians, Once you say something about Pastors all the worshipers and Rambos rush out with "Dont touch God's anointed" "Don't Judge" and all that... Yet the same people just finished judging another person ... Whether Ese is saying the Truth or not is not the bone of contention here, but rather how people Judge, Insult and call her all sorts of names because a Pastor is involved... A lot of these same people didn't even read her story before passing Judgment, WHY? Because she dare talk negative about one of the gods they worship.. Keep on worshiping these Men! Keep on Fighting for them! Keep on Enriching them, after all they promise you that GOD ALMIGHTY will become a Magician for your sake and give you your hearts desires.. Well these predictions have been going on for so many years and all I see are these Mini gods and their family getting Richer and enjoying life, while the majority of Nigerians are wallowing in poverty! "Anyone hearing the sound of my voice will get promotion tomorrow! Ameeeeeeen!!! "Somebody will receive a brand new Jeep next week!! "I Receive it!!!! "That Lady looking for a Husband will meet her soul mate next Month!! "Hallelujah!!!" .... Make una sit down there dey believe say GOD go become Magician for una... Una go wait tire!

Ogunjimi James Taiwo: In defence of Ese Walters: Memo to religious addicts

By Ogunjimi James Taiwo on August 25, 2013
Pin It
“You’re not to be so blind with patriotism that you can’t face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or says it.” – Malcolm X

“Let hundreds like me perish, but let truth prevail. Let us not reduce the standards of truth even by a hair’s breadth for judging erring mortals like myself.” – Mahatma Gandhi

At the risk of being labelled a heretic and apostate by die-hard religious people who refused to believe that human beings are fallible regardless of their ‘spiritual’ stature, I have decided to give my opinion on this burning issue.

You see, like so many issues that we have in Nigeria, the issue of religion has perhaps shown over time that we are still immature when it comes to handling issues. We tend to neglect so many rules and embrace deliberate lies. The first rule every human must understand is: Trust no one. The Bible itself gave us that rule in Jeremiah 17:9, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

The Ese Walters issue has brought into light what many young women that have trudged into some of these new generation churches have been passing through in silence. The reactions that trailed Ese’s revelations are perhaps part of the reasons why these ladies have elected to keep quiet rather that face ridicule and open themselves up to scorn in the society.

I put it forward that some of the statements that Ese attributed to the COZA pastor are statements that cannot be denied by people who have spent their lives in churches and close to church leaders. I grew up in a pentecostal church where you get to listen to some of these statements; whether jokingly or not.

Most of those attacking Ese know this is the truth. Come to most of the churches on campus that have only student pastors without adult supervision and you’ll see and hear more than that. Some of the things that happen are too raw to even utter.

Over time, when pastors commit adultery and have affairs, their church members have always been quick to term the lady involved as an ‘agent’ of darkness sent to pull down the pastor. The pastor hides under that garb and gets away with sin while the lady involved is stigmatised forever.

These issues of sexual abuse are issues that bodies such as CAN and PFN must begin to address instead of concerning themselves with political issues. Recently, the Cameroon government ordered the closure of all pentecostal churches there because of their excesses and unacceptable acts. If these acts continue, Nigerian pentecostal churches must get ready to be shut down too and woe betide anyone who claims its persecution because even God must be disgusted with the way we practice religion.

As for Ese, my sympathies are with her and with the myriad of ladies who have suffered similar things and have had to keep quiet because of societal responses. As for the COZA pastor, let’s see you respond to the latest revelation by Franca. Thank God Franca has audio and pictorial evidences.

My view on this is that in as much as the pastor has sinned both against humanity and God,the ranting of that girl makes no meaning to me,the pastor never forced her nor threatend her but she yielded on her own, then instead of her going to God on a bended knees to ask for forgiveness, she's here shamelessly and hypocritically washing her dirty cloth in the public and some people are applauding her.

My ache is my generation is too gullible whn it come to d things of God. For ur indormation, God has no grandson, all are children of d most high weither G.O or church me
ber..touch not my anointed n do my prophets no harm is not for Moses, it was for d entire household of Israel. So if ur Pastor suddenly declare himsef as gay, will u look at wht d bible says or say only God can say wht Gay Pastor did is wrong...level of biblical illiteracy growing per day..To start with, has d Pastor said d allegation was false or true? for David, as soon as an allegation was against him, d next thing was repentance, so also God's generals et err..all we can do is to pray for God to uphpld them, i mean those dt own up to their error

We all as Christians can admonish one another.
While that's not the issue, the issue is sexual immorality!!!
And the COZA church should handle this as it should be handled. The gentleman should step down until this is resolved .
Also, he should come out to either deny or affirm this .
All this big grammar should stop...

smh.

In God's eyes, we are all equal. "Man of God" is purely man-made.

Same way a pastor slapped a little girl and some called it a spiritual slap...as it if didnt hurt

What is the difference between us and fanatics or terrorists??

God gave us free will and eyes of understanding...it is up to us to open them.

Why dont you put on your thinking cap and ask why Biodun Fatoyinbo should have made the move towards Ese as a leader of his ministry and as a married man in the first place. He is supposed to be more responsible and expected to know better.

I wonder if you will write these if Ese was your daughter or sister or what the Pastor will say if someone take advantage of his own daughter
therealMcCain: Someone says this is all old testament, lets delve in into the new testament
Acts 23:1-5

Vs 2
The high priest commanded Paul to be slapped

Vs 3
Paul cursed them
Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: and sittest thou to judge me according to the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law

Vs 4-5
And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God's high priest?
And Paul said, I knew not, brethren, that he was high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of a ruler of thy people

He was informed that, that was the high priest and paul apologized

Whether paul was right or wrong was no longer the issue but that he spoke against the high priest. Don’t you think that paul had every right to claim his grounds considering the fact that what he was saying was the correct thing

Finally the big one
Matthew 23:2-3
saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses seat:
all things therefore whatsoever they bid you, these do and observe: but do not ye after their works for they say, and do not.;

In essence do what I say and not what I do. From this you find out that nobody has an excuse for not receiving salvation or going to church. JESUS says so long as you are taught from Gods word, do it and don’t give any excuse that because the pastor is not preaching what he says, so I wont go to church, I wont pray, I wont give, I wont forgive, etc you get the drift

this doesn’t mean you cant switch church when you find out that the doctrines are wrong or that the pastor is not practicing what he preaches.

History is replete with Pastors who stole, raped, committed atrocities some lost their way completely while others bounced back. So leave the judgment for God and don’t get punished for a crime you had no business with

Summary: Go to church, serve God and most importantly know Gods word for yourself, that way you wont easily be swayed or discouraged.

Re: A different View on COZA Sex Scandal by LewsTherin: 7:03pm On Aug 26, 2013
It took me a while to understand why the poster's comments didn't sit well with me.
1. Not everyone that left Egypt under Moses' lead was Hebrew. There was a large mix of Egyptions and Cushites and all sorts that even the Bible had to give them a name - The Mixed Multitude. These included people who had seen the power of the God of Israel and chose to follow Him. God had no ish with those people. Heck, He allowed one of them to be the grandmother of David!
2. Mariam and Aaron's grouse was not about the woman but about the position. They wanted to rule (not lead). It was a power struggle and God handled it based on that.
3. Paul appologised because he spoke out of turn to someone in authority. But he never failed to bring them to task for their wrong doings.
4. God judged the children of Eli for their sins and Eli himself for his silence.

Remember the words Joseph used? "how can I sin against God and AGAINST MAN"

God expects his people to be accountable to each other. God expects His people to avoid bringing reproach to His name. Hiding the truth, denying responsibility, keeping silent about it? I mean common......

nora544: that is like it is in nigera but it is not right and it will never be okay in other countries.

I when i know a pastor had something with a girl younger than 14 i should keep my mouth, i should close my eyes,
Pastors are normal people pastors are not god.

Please read the story of this Pasor in UK.

Yes, that's exactly what he's saying i.e.
Summary: Go to church, serve God and most importantly
know Gods word for yourself, that way you wont easily be
swayed or discouraged.

Pastors are not God, but heed this advice for your own good. But the bible still says "touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm". Psalms 105 vs 15. God is serious about this. Even the Edomites tried to take revenge on Israel (God's anointed) as a revenge for what Jacob did to Esau and they paid for it. For these kind of cases, if you must talk about him pray for him. Careful please!
Re: A different View on COZA Sex Scandal by Smooyis(m): 7:13pm On Aug 26, 2013
Yea. The Bible admonishes us to leave the judgement of hiis servants for Him. No matter what they do, God is capable of administering justice. You may not agree but thats the truth. And thats what the writer here is trying to say.

Re: A different View on COZA Sex Scandal by loneytunes(m): 7:27pm On Aug 26, 2013
@OP, I totally agree with your submission.

But I find it strange when people use scriptures without proper understanding. Yes the Bible says Touch not My anointed and do My prophet no harm; it says in Ephesians 5:11 says:
'And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them'.
This means if a man of God (or anybody at all) is involved in shaddy matters (such as corruption, sexual immorality, etc) expose him/her by telling his/her superiors and, if nothing is done and he/she refuses to repent, exose him/her to the open. Do not crucify him/her but expose what he/she is doing. This is to bring shame and lead to repentance.

Bottom line, however, involves prayer as his soul is key. This doesn't only apply to pastors but all men who get themselves involved in works of darkness.

If you are or have been a victim, no matter what the issue is, speak up and get out of the place - either church or company. Don't keep quiet.

(pls make una no vex. No mobile phone I use take type this so may appear uncordinated but the message is key)
