I vote yes to Macof's proposition.

Alfa Seltzer:

What do you propose?
I really don't want to be the voice of dissension here, but what macof has proposed seems to me like unnecessary duplication of awards. What really is the difference between irreligious and non-religious?? I don't see any fun in having sticky threads all over the place and if I were a voter, I'd get pretty bored quickly because of the whole cumbersome process of voting from one thread to the other.

Best overall poster

Best religious poster

Best non-religious poster

Best or most interesting topic.

Shikena. That, in my opinion, makes more sense embarassed

I have a proposition to make with regards to the winners award.

First of all it depends on what kind of award?

A realisitic award?

or

A NAiraland award?

If it is a Nairaland award, the winner must get for example a chance to have 5 of his/her topics nominated on the Frontpage.

then second winner gets 4, and so on..

If it is a realisitic award, you guyz bring up proposals.

Good ideas, but can we discuss these in mattters arising? Let's concentrate on the 4th item for now and continue chronologically. Thanks.

He said non-christian and irreligious. Non christians can be very religious: muslims, hindus, pagans, etc.
Irreligious are mostly atheists, deists, agnostics etc.

Please vote on these: Who can nominate?

1: Everybody and anybody nominate
2: Everybody can nominate on condition that they already made at least 30 posts in the religious section.
3: Only regular religious section members can nominate.
4: Only those registered before 01/10/2013.

I vote number 4
Re: End Of Year Awards Organisation Thread. Panel Members Only by PAGAN9JA(m): 8:12pm On Oct 17, 2013
I vote 4.

The reason being that many people are regular visitors bu they just dont post.

However, this is because they come here to gain knowledge and therefore they are the best possible unbiased judges.

Also, there is a greater variety of opinions.

i vote 3
Re: End Of Year Awards Organisation Thread. Panel Members Only by MrTroll(m): 8:20pm On Oct 17, 2013
I vote 2.

Number 4 would have been better if only we knew who actually are the ones who view without posting and those who were 'imported' from other sections...
Re: End Of Year Awards Organisation Thread. Panel Members Only by Nobody: 8:31pm On Oct 17, 2013
I vote 1 because i was chanced to read the profile one of my followers and i saw she registered october 3 and the way she had been opening threads show she might pass our thirty,i also have people on my thread who are very regular and had been here for long but have not posted more than two post, some none..
Re: End Of Year Awards Organisation Thread. Panel Members Only by macof(m): 10:01pm On Oct 17, 2013

please guyz be rational. If you answer this question, I too will vote for 2.

How are you going to find out if the poster has made atleast 30 posts on the Religious section Are you going to go through his/here every post and count how many posts on this section

That is time consuming.
Re: End Of Year Awards Organisation Thread. Panel Members Only by AlfaSeltzer(m): 11:36pm On Oct 17, 2013
That's 4 votes for number 2: Alfa, Divepen, macof & Troll

That will be for election proper organisers to do. For many regulars, no need to count posts but if you see a new moniker you may want to check out its authenticity and one of the tools for doing it to go and see that person's participation level. Like every rule, enforcers' discretion is paramount.
Re: End Of Year Awards Organisation Thread. Panel Members Only by AlfaSeltzer(m): 11:51pm On Oct 17, 2013
macof:

it would be very useful if arguments against propositions are made before the vote.

Mr Troll made this proposition this afternoon by 3 pm and nobody discussed it.

Mr Troll: I agree to Macofs suggestion.

As to who can nominate, I propose that only religion section regulars nominate, at least the poster should have made up to 30 posts in the religion section. This is to prevent people registering new monikers just for nominations sake or getting their friends from other sections to nominate them.

5 hours later, it was put up for vote. According to the rules, if a simple majority is reached, the proposition is adopted. So I don't see how we can go back on it now. Like I said before, the election organisers will use their discretion.

I wish to remind members that we have yet to decide the remaining categories for award.

We all seem to agree on these ones:

A. Best overall poster

B. Best non-religious poster

C. Best or most interesting thread/topic.

For the other 2, we have these propositions:

D. Best religious poster (all religions)

E. Best christian poster

F. Best non-christian religious poster

Please vote to select the last 2 from D, E and F.

The two with most votes will complete the list. Thanks.
