Kenneth Omeruo
Abdul Ajagun
Michael Olaitan
Chuba Akpom
Chuks Aneke
Imoh Ezekiel
Olanrewaju Kayode

All those players above I am sure u know are alreadt established and experienced pros.

Is chuba ready to play for Nigeria? I don't think so.

I understand your sentiment. But knowing that we have never had this kind of soccer starlets in ages. It would be prudent to harness their collective skills.

Breaking them off would do us more harm than good and we may never see this kind of assembly of stars in another 20 years.

You still don't get it. The reason it does not happen anywhere else in the world is because not all the 23 cadet players will become spectacular players. We will be able to discover players that are better than some of them. Some will drop off the radar, never to be heard of again. That's life for you, my friend. You gotta be prepare for these eventualities.

Adeyemo On the Radar Of Nigerian Authorities

Dundee United striker Ola Adeyemo is attracting the interest of Nigerian Football authorities despite only just making his debut for the Scottish Premier League side on October 3.

Adeyemo, 19, is a strong and skilful striker who has been likened to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry due to his blistering pace and eye for goal.

A dossier has been kept on the youngster and as soon as the Federation gets an all-clear regarding his eligibility and availability to play for Nigeria, he will be invited to try out with Coach Manu Garba's Flying Eagles or Samson Siasia's Olympic team.

“The NFF keep dossiers on players eligible to play for Nigeria and I am proud to tell you that we have recently discovered a young lad named Ola Adeyemo who plays as a striker with SPL side Dundee United,” a top source Close to the NFF Technical Committee told SL10.ng.

“We learnt he has been scoring goals for the Dundee United Under-20 Team and did well for the first team recently when he made his competitive debut.”

He added: “It is not an easy feat to break into a team like Dundee United. He has Nigerian blood through and through as both his parents are Nigerians though he was born in London.

“He has an Irish passport and knowing his eligibility and of course willingness to play for Nigeria is the only thing keeping his invitation to play for Nigeria.”

Adeyemo represented Stella Marris, St Patrick's Athletic and UCD before deciding to pitch his tent at the Tannadice Park this season.

The question is, are these starlets better than the ones we have if nurtured?

There is nothing wrong in competition and replacing players with better ones. However splitting them up without giving them the right opportunity to prove themselves will do us more harm than good.

If all players are given equal opportunity in camp like their foreign counterparts, I have no problem with that.

I have a problem with the case, Coach Samson Siasia split Coach Yemi Tella's team with weaker players. For instance, Obiora Nwankwo was in no way better than Ibrahim Rabiu but Coach Siasia fielded him ahead of Rabiu. Even the game Rabiu was brought in, he scored an amazing goal in that U20 World Cup and Coach Siasia pulled him off.

Emeka Okafor was not better than Ajiboye. Ajiboye conceded only one goal in the whole U17 World Cup that year. That goal was from Toni Kroos. He saved three penalties against Spain in the final game. Coach Siasia dropped Ajiboye for Emeka Okafor who can not goalkeep for my street junior secondary boys.

I have no problem encouraging competition but these lads are special breeds. I agree with 2sexi, splitting them would be a wrong path to follow.

Take it from me, not all the 23 players will go on to excel. There are yet many talented players both home and abroad that would relegate some of them to the bench. It's difficult to accept but that's the way it works.

Take Schweinsteiger's U-17 2009 German set for example. How many of the 2009 set do you know now of the 23 players that were in the same tournament that Yemi Temi's boys won?

Dele Alli scores in MK Dons win

Nigeria-born England junior international Dele Alli was among the goals as his MK Dons came from behind to beat Swindon Town 2-1.

Alli has now scored six goals in the league this season and MK Dons are third on the league table with 27 points in 14 games.

The youngster scored in the 51st minute to cancel Swindon Town's early lead courtesy of compatriot Jonathan Obika's sixth minute strike.

Coach Samson Siasia destroyed Coach Yemi Tella's team.if we had continuity plan like Making Coach Yemi's assistant Coach of the 2009 U20 World Cup team. More of them would have made it.

The reason why 5 members of the 2005 U20 Argentine winning side played this World Cup finals is because of continuity.

I am not saying all of them would be stars. I am saying if we promote continuity, some of them will be stars and not forgotten like Coach Yemi Tella's team.

The reason why 5 members of the 2005 U20 Argentine winning side played this World Cup finals was the continuity done by Coach Jose Pekerman who coached them at the Olympics.

Contrary to the point Someone said Coach Manu Garba can not Coach the U20 and Olympics. Coach Perkerman Coached theArgentine teamto glory in 2007 and the Olympics glory in 2008.

I am not saying all of them would be stars. I am saying if we promote continity, some of them will be stars and not forgotten like Coach Yemi Tella's team.

Seems we are beginning to go in circles about this issue, hence this will be my last comment on the issue. I'm not talking of the Yemi Tella's boys. I'm speaking of the German U-17 set that we triumphed over. How many of them are at the peak of their careers now?

Cmon, how could they be the best we have got. I hope you guys know that I LOVE these boys. Infact that's why I devote so much time to following them around. But truth be told, there are much more out there that WILL be discovered. We cannot CAGE the national team. I recommend keeping the bulk of them, but the whole 23 players when there are some that are obviously better than them that we are yet to discover? No way. Okay, let's do this: If anyone can show me any team that had a U-17 team where more than 11 players eventually went ahead to play at the highest level, I will concede. Deal?

Friday Nets Brace In Norway

Lillestrom youngster Freddy Friday has expressed his delight at netting his first brace in the Norwegian topflight against Bodo/Glimt on Sunday.

The 19-year-old has shed light on the fact that he scored lots of goals for the reserve team who played in the Third Division this season ,and this gave him confidence going into the tie at Kjeller.

“It was a great moment for me scoring two. What motivated me to score was because I have been scoring for the second team, and we have been promoted to the second division,” the Lillestrom number 23 told SL10.ng.

“I scored 28 goals for the second team, that was what motivated me to score. I dedicate these goals to God Almighty for making it possible for me to score.”

The attacker also revealed that manager Haglund was impressed with his performance, so much so that the gaffer lavished him with praise after the game.

‘My coach was very happy and he congratulated me after the game. I thank him for giving me this opportunity to start,” Friday added.

In his first season in Norway, the physical forward had only 46 minutes of game time under his belt for LSK in the Premier League.

Elohor Back At Barca After Surgery

Nigeria born Barcelona under-19 full back Godswill Elohor has returned back to training after undergoing surgery in the summer.

The 18-year-old has successfully completed his rehabilitation and joined in full training last week after making the step up from the Barcelona juvenile squad to the reserves.

Last season he captained the Juvenile team to glory in the UEFA Youth Champions League with the likes of first team latest sensation Munir El-Hadadi in the team.

Already two members of the last season all conquering Barcelona team are full internationals for Cameroun in the 2015 AFCON 2015 qualifiers.

The duo of goalkeeper Joseph Ondoa and midfielder Macky Frank Bagnack are regulars for the indomitable lions in the 2015 qualifiers.

It has never happened than an age grade team will be intact forever. That is why Ronaldinho's 1997 fantastic U17 team did not all become great. Cambiasso's U20 triumphing team, not all of them made it to the national team.

We are talking of continuity to aid development. If we go through the route of globe trotting and finding stars, we would destroy all the work put in.

They should be kept together and then you find stars who are better than them in each position.

I am saying, Coach Manu Garba should have been made the Olympic coach. If you are honest, if Coach Manu Garba was made the Olympic coach, many of our U17 triumphing team would make it to the Olympics. (That would promote coherency and continuity)

With Samson Siasia, it will be a different route.

If Coach Yemi Tella handled the 2009 U20 team, most of his boys of the U17 would have made it. With Coach Siasia, they were scattered.

No one expects all of them to be kept. We are talking of the manner of approach and development.

You can scout super talents, however, their understanding of being played together for years will surpass them.

I wish Coach Siasia can scout and build a strong U23 team and they have a match against Coach Manu Garba's boys after the U20 World Cup.

django1's question what if they are the best we got is not a statement claiming they are the best we got.

He meant that working with the notion that because not all of them will make, we must go through a path of searching for players might be wrong.

We should work with an idea that these are the best we have gotten and then search for players who can knock the weak ones off.

Manu should have been allowed to graduate with his U17 team to U20 and U23. Siasia should have been made the new U17 team manager. When are we going to learn the importance of continuity.

De Jong Hails Nigeria For Producing Top Talent

A member of the Netherlands 1974 World Cup team, Theo De Jong now a scout for European teams, says Nigeria is number one in Africa when it comes to producing young talented footballers.

De Jong a part of the Dutch team that lost in the final of the 1974 World Cup 2-1 to Germany made this known to SL10.ng in Kaduna after a talent hunt tournament.

"Nigeria is still very much Africa number one in terms of young players that is why we choose to come here,'' he told SL10.ng.

"I have seen so many talented players who can become hit in the next few years with proper conditioning and training."

Seven players were picked by the team of scouts and according to Paul Daniel the MD of Nadia Sports Network, they are schedule to undergo trials in Holland, Finland and Czech Republic.

"I can tell you as soon as the window of transfer opens in Europe about seven of them will undergo trials." he added.

Sadiq Maiyaki, Israel Adebayo, Chinedu Akuvuo, Paul Aboki and Moses John are five among the seven players expected to go on trials next month.

Iheanacho, Nwakali Yet To Prove Their Worth To Man City Hierarchy

Kelechi Iheanacho and his 2013 Under-17 World Cup winning mate Chidebere Nwakali would have thought their career was destined for the skies when they were included in Manchester City's pre-season tour of Scotland and the USA.

While Iheanacho made the squad trip to America, Nwakali dropped down a level to the reserve team to complete his pre-season preparation.

They were rumours that both players will be offered a professional contract upon reaching 18, with some suggesting both players will be loaned out immediately after they sign the dotted lines.

However, that does not appear to be the case, as a well informed source close to the deal has revealed to SL10.ng that both players still need to prove their worth to the City hierarchy to earn professional deals at the Etihad.

Both players signed a pre-contract but our source revealed it only gave City first offer on refusal on both players when they turn 18 and at the moment they are literally on trial training with the City first team.

"Being 17 worked against them as the club could only offer them pre-contract and not a professional deal, if they were 18, City would have been forced to sign them permanently," the source revealed to SL10.ng

"Their situation is similar to the case of Moses Simon and his failed move to Ajax Amsterdam, after signing a pre-contract as a 17-year-old.

He said while Iheanacho appears to be inching towards a professional contract building on his reputation earned during the team pre-season tour of America with strong performances, the same can not be said of Nwakali who appears overawed by the presence of City's top stars.

As it stands one among them might not be signed but Iheanacho won't be short of suitors if City fail to offer him a professional deal.

Nigeria’s ‘Balotelli’ Going To Italy

SL10.ng understands that Italian club Cagliari are in advanced talks with the agent of striker Ayonfe Sunday, who has been likened to Italy international and Liverpool star Mario Balotelli by his minders.

The 18-year-old was discovered by former Enyimba and Shooting Stars coach Godfrey Esu, before he was recommended for trials at the Sardinia-based outfit.

There is no point of conflict in negotiations, and the Cagliari hierarchy is expected to pay in the region of 200,000 Euros to snap him up from his grassroots team, Samvic Academy.

It is all almost done and dusted that Ayonfe Sunday will sign a professional contract with The Red-blues after impressing the technical crew during a three week trial.

And that is subject to a successful work permit application which he will begin processing on his return to Lagos in the next three days.

Should the youngster get green-light from the Italian Embassy, he will commit his future to Cagliari for the next four years.

It is understood that newly appointed Under 23 national team manager, Samson Siasia, is mulling over inviting him to the Dream Team when the camp is opened.

The teenager is being compared to Mario Balotelli due to his playing style and physical attributes.

Omaka Could Be Heading To Portugal

Nigeria Under-20 international Anthony Omaka is battling to win a contract at Portuguese side Beira-Mar, the manager of the central midfielder, Dominic Egbukwu has specially informed SL10.ng.

The 18-year-old has been linked to a number of clubs across Europe since the summer after displaying his wares for the Flying Eagles and COD United.

And the youngster tried his luck with SC Bastia (France) and Cagliari (Italy) before Beira-Mar started running the rule over him last month.

“Tony Omaka was first invited to Cagliari but after about a week he was sent to train with Beira-Mar. We are hoping he is offered a contract,” said his manager.

“He has the qualities most European teams are looking for and will be a good addition to the team.”

Omaka made his debut for the Flying Eagles back in April in an international friendly against Morocco.

Beira-Mar are ranked fourth in the Segunda Liga after 14 matches played.

Solanke Stars As Chelsea U19 Thump Maribor

Anglo Nigeria Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke was the star for Chelsea alongside Charlie Colkett as both players scored a brace for Chelsea Under-19 in their 7-0 thrashing of NK Maribor in the UEFA Youth Champions league on Wednesday.

Tipped to break into the Chelsea senior set up in the not too distant future, Solanke who played for Jose Mourinho's senior side against Maribor at Stamford Bridge, capitalised on a sliced kick from goalkeeper Damjan Prineg to score from close range.

Chelsea were five goals up on the stroke of half-time when Loftus-Cheek scorched through the defence and crossed low for Solanke to score his second of the game and fourth of the competition.

With four wins out of four the Chelsea youth team are on the brink of qualifying for the knockout rounds with 12 points from a possible 12, a tally that keeps them top of group G.

Aside from Solanke, three other Nigerian youngsters were in the Chelsea team with Ola Aina also lasting the entire duration of the game picking up a yellow card in the process while Mukhtar Ali was an unused substitute.

The three youngsters are still eligible for Nigeria at senior level.

Alli Left Out

Liverpool transfer target Bamidele Alli has been left out by manager Karl Robinson for tomorrow's clash against Port Vale in the FA cup.

After featuring regularly last term - scoring seven goals in 37 matches - Alli has nailed down a first team place in 2014-15, appearing in each of the Dons games this season.

The 18-year-old is reportedly being watched by Liverpool and Bayern Munich after dazzling in the Dons side which destroyed Manchester United 4-0 in this season's Capital One Cup.

Despite the interest he signed a new three year deal in September which ties him to the League one outfit till the summer of 2017.

Manager Karl Robinson who is set to rest six players for the game said the Anglo Nigeria teen needs rest as he has played too many matches already.

“Since we've come back from pre-season, he has played nearly 30 games already,” he said.

“He's only 18, and people need to realise that's hard going. We don't want him falling behind.”

Alli, who has scored seven goals this season, including a hat-trick in the 6-1 home win over Crewe is still eligible for Nigeria at senior level despite representing England at youth level.

Birmingham City Starlet Opts For Nigeria

Birmingham City's Viv Efosa Solomon-Otabor has so much confidence in his abilities, and thinks he is good enough to play for the Flying Eagles after making himself available for selection.

Born in London 18 years ago to parents who are both from Edo State, football runs through his veins as his father represented Bendel Insurance before hanging up his boots.

''I would say I want to represent Nigeria instead of England. I would love to represent my fatherland. My dad played back in Nigeria and I wanted to do the same and represent the national team,'' Solomon-Otabor told SL10.ng.

''I haven't made my official debut for Birmingham City yet but I have trained with the first team many times.

''If I'm invited to Nigeria's Under 20 national team, I would honour it and work hard for my country.''

When asked if he would add more firepower to the Flying Eagles squad, the ex-Hampton and Richmond starlet replied : '' My best attributes are my speed and dribbling with the ball. I can play with both of my feet.''

''I can play left and right midfield, and also attacking midfield.''

Viv Efosa Solomon-Otabor turned out for Crystal Palace for two years before moving to St Andrews in 2012.

He lasted 81 minutes on the pitch on Monday as the Under 21s played a goalless draw with Huddersfield Town.

Manu begs over house, land gifts

Golden Eaglets 2013 World Cup-winning coach Manu Garba has pleaded with the Cross River and Niger States governments to redeem the promise of house gifts and landed properties to the victorious team.

Speaking on the first anniversary of leading Nigeria to a record fourth Under-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, Garba said it was about time he sounded out a reminder to the amiable Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State and his Niger State counterpart, Babangida Aliyu.

Manu said the players as well as the officials would be eternally grateful if the gifts are delivered as promised.

Success Still Waiting For First Granada Goal

Isacc Success' search for his first senior goal for Granada has now extended to 9 games after yesterday's 0-0 draw with Celta Vigo.

Success was introduced in the 53rd minute for Youseff Al Arabi but he failed to break his goal drought for the modest La-Liga side despite coming close to scoring twice.

The 18-year-old 2013 AYC top scorer has started three games for Granada in his first full season in Europe but his goals so far has been for the youth team.

For Granada B team, who play in the second division in Spain, he has three goals but none for the first team in 531 minutes of senior football.

On loan from Udinese, The departure of fellow Nigerian Odion Ighalo to English Championship side Watford helped in accelerating Success' promotion to the Granada senior set up.

Despite his goal drought he is still highly rated by manager Joaquin Caparros, who believes the Nigerian needs just a goal to kick start a goal-scoring run.

"Success is going through a lean patch but I have absolute confidence in his ability, just a goal and he will score every other game, He is that good," he told La-Liga Insider.

"At the moment I'm impressed with his fearless and fighting spirit on the pitch and off course he is a good lad off the pitch always willing to learn"

Nice update. As long as his coach believes in Isaac, his chance will come.

Liverpool Set To Swoop For Alli

Liverpool are lining up an audacious move for Milton Keynes Dons attacking midfielder Bamidele Alli in the January transfer window.

According to The People, the Reds are confident they will get their man in the winter transfer window - but they will then loan him straight back to his current employers.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been pursued for a year by the Reds, who will make an initial payment of £4.5million to nab him.

Dubbed as the new Steven Gerrard, Alli has played for England Under-19s and has been scouted by Liverpool and Bayern Munich in the last eight months.

The five-time UEFA Champions League winners will purchase Alli’s economic rights from MK Dons when the market reopens.

However, his sporting rights will remain with the League One club until the end of the 2014-2015 campaign.

Alli has netted seven goals in 14 appearances for MKD, including a hat-trick against Crewe Alexandra on September 20th, 2014.

Dieseruvwe Chooses Nigeria

Sheffield Wednesday attacker Emmanuel Aghogho Dieseruvwe is the latest Anglo-Nigerian player that has chosen to represent the national team of Nigeria instead of England.

Though he was born in Leeds, England, the 19-year-old can sport the colours of the Africa powerhouse as his parents are both from Nigeria.

“No, I have never been contacted by the Nigeria Federation, but if they were to contact me to represent them, I would be more than happy to play for them,” says Emmanuel Dieseruvwe to SL10.ng.

“I think I will be able to adapt to the Nigeria setup because we have a few international players at Sheffield Wednesday at the moment that I train with.

“Twice a week I train with Sheffield Wednesday's first team, then the other two times I'm with the Under 21s preparing for our league games.

“My parents are aware of my choice. My dad gave me the advice to play for Nigeria if I ever got the chance.”

The youngster has admitted that a couple of Anglo-Nigerian footballers have opted to represent Nigeria in recent times because the England selectors usually beam their searchlight on the players at the top Premier League teams.

“They chose to play for Nigeria just because the level of football over here to pursue an international career is very difficult, and you have to be at the top clubs to really make that step,” he added.

“If I was ever to play internationally, Nigeria would be my choice.”

Dieseruvwe has contractual obligations with Sheffield Wednesday until June 30, 2015.
