It wasn’t the valley of death, we were walking in,It was the valley of confusion for many years.
Different religions different beliefs Undermining my culture, Looking down upon my tradition
Making fun of my language.
If I may ask of what Benefits has these modern churches brought to us here in Nigeria if not confussion and hatered to fellow brothers and Sisters.
condenming what has been attached to our colour as a symbol.

I deeply believe in God Almighty, have respect on Christ Jesus teaching, but still find it difficult to follow any church or pastor and will never.
The Holy Bible is a very great philosophic book that do inspires me much, but hate when people turns it up side down to match to their own selfish believe.
The way people preaches about Heaven and Hell as if one of their relatives has been there before and come back to say his/her experience. I bow for them.
Life should be an exciting adventure.

My brother, over the last 2-3 yrs i have found myself in your boat.
I believe Jesus Christ, His redemptive message of salvation and the bible.

But i have little respect for many of the "big" gospel ministers of today.

There's a fellow, a young Nigerian minister who i happened to add on facebook . . . just yesterday he was busy posting IN BOLD LETTERS his recent "explosive" and "exclusive" (his own words) interview in the Nigerian Tribune with links to everyone to read them. My heart sank and i had to ask if he was truly on a mission to save the lost or build an image for himself.

My personal belief - find a church (it doesnt matter how small or how unappealing) that preaches the undiluted word of God and plug urself in there. What we have today are not churches but massive altars to assuage the egos of those who have used the name of the Lord to amass wealth and fame.

Hmmn David I am also a little worried about Bro. D.I. I have a lot of respect for the guy but I believe that if he is not careful, he may go off course.
Even when I heard him speak in a (secular) youth forum last year, he spent so much time talking about all he had accomplished and very little time advising and inspiring us.

May God have mercy on us all.

The sad part is the whole batch of lost souls who will spend so much time "defending" these men rather than digging back into their bibles.

Of course my question was deleted and not answered.

I don't believe in Heaven or Hell. I only believe that God made us in his own image to multiply, live a successful life enjoy the good things that is around us, all these hell fire holyghost fire, judgement day, Rapture, God's destruction . It's worst than terrorizing people with something even the preacher can not even give a clear explanation of how it looks like. 95% of church attenders live below poverty line and the preacher can't even preach on how they can better their life.

Let's preach about the positive side of life, Abundant, Progress, Prosparity,Riches and Wealth, Love, Peace Joy.

I'll only attend to a church that preaches Wealth, Rich, and abundance. We're not burn to surfer.

while i do not profess to be a religious luminary, one thing i know for sure is that as the modern churches have their downsides,so does the old churches as well, the ogboni confraternity headquarters was an anglican church in lagos island and in fact their inaugrural leader was a venerable, if that happened in a pentecostal church im sure it ll be empty by the very next sunday as they ll be seen to be consorting with occultists, and also internationally the whole homosexual crisis threatening to split the anglican communion

same for many catholic churches and the child abuse saga that rocked the churches internationally and in nigeria allegations of them installing ppl who are not worth it as knights irrespective of their moral standing in society e.t.c

the moral of my pre amble is that irrespective of the church one attends either old or pentecostal, the main focus should be the pastor and his message and how that impartson one's life, hence barrack obama being a member of pastor wright's church for 26 yrs irrespective of the man's political viewpoints being slightly diffrent to his

even your preamble is wrong. In no way should any mortal be the focus of christianity. The bible says - - - looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith . . .

I think your case is poles apart from mine then. You dont belong to any denomination because you're not a regenerated soul anyway. Sorry but you cant claim to believe in the almighty and dismiss His very clear statements about heaven and hell.

@davidlan
how can my "preamble"be wrong when you picked out a small phrase or couple of words out of a whole comment overblown out of proportion so as to back up your comments?
even though the bible says so,and like i said im not bible expert, but the realistic fact here is that if your pastor was openly gay or was accused and found to be a pedophile,im sure his congregation will be halfed by the very next service, so while the bible might propound that mortal men/women should not be a focus in religion/religious practise, realistically in nigeria and abroad, pastors are always made the focus by most congregations and they even have an influence on major decisions taken concerning the church
