Most Nigerian nurses are wicked and got an ego attitude. They do not have any form of conscience and human feeling.

They should be charged for murder.

And the doctor who was supposed to be on call but wasn't nko? And the doctor who when he finally showed up refused to help the dying woman nko? No oh stone the nurses. Congratulate the doctor.

Go back and read it then do the needful.

People are angry at the news already don't let them descend on you.

This is so sad. I can't imagine how hurt he must be.

This was avoidable.

Eternal rest to the Mum and Baby.

May God comfort and sustain the husband, child and family she left behind.

The woman had post-partum haemorrhage.

In that case...you first put her on some IV meds....and if they do not work....you pack the womb with gauze...and if that does not work....you do an emergency hysterectomy (remove the womb).

And that requires an obstetric doctor...something which i suspect my colleague the doctor there is not......

If you can't do it....refer.

Pray, how are the govt officials going to punish those involved?
What 'punishment' would make up for the lives of mother and child?
Such wickedness!
These government hospitals are something else these days.No commitment whatsoever on the part of the medical personnel.
Haba!
I prefer private hospitals to these useless govt health facilities.Agreed they have the equipment, but human relations and selflessness is zero.
May God console the bereaved and grant the departed souls rest.

Those on duty that day, including non medical staff, should be arrested immediately and charged for murder. This must come to the attention of Gov Ambode and wife and the various women activists. The crime should not be swept under the carpet!

This is a bad one. RIP to the woman...and innocent lil one who was unfortunate to attempt coming into a dysfunctional society.

Was the woman registered there? I ask because I heard some of those govt hospitals act like witches on their brooms when one isn't registered there.
If she had her antenatal there, she should have probably noticed their shortcomings and modus operandi.

The country doesn't care about us, we have to take precautions ourselves.

General hospitals are always full. They are often better than most private ones but the facilities cannot accommodate the large number of patients. Very sad story.

It is easy for us to blame nurses for their harshly realistic mien when dealing with patients. We cannot imagine the number of hopeless and helpless cases they have seen right from house job to full practice; the number times they have cried when patients die; the number of times they have had to clean up after the death of yet another patient.

It is numbing on the psyche of nurses. Very sad.

Too sad, too bad and painful. . RIP to the dead. This is quite avoidable.

That said, the distance from Egbeda to Igando is like 10minutes especially around 5am, when the traffic is still less. Why not drive down to Igando general hospital immediately.... why taking chances...

Even waiting at home till the water break is enough risk already, As for the justice, no amount of justice will bring the dead back.

So sad to hear. No regulatory body checking if public and private hospitals are fit for purpose. Maternal and Infant mortality occurring in the city. Whats happens in the rural areas? From the story the hospital is ill equipped and staff could not recognize an emergency. She doesn't even need to bleed profusely before they know they have a case of emergency. The fact that she is not a booked patient implies high risk pregnancy and as such should be treated as one until proven otherwise. Shame...the hospital should be locked up. Their conduct was Appalling.

very sad story. Condolences to the man and RIP to the dead but some lessons here. Sometimes when hospitals say no bed space or no doctor, instead of insisting, for the sake of the emergency it's better to just save time and go to the next nearest hospital ( private or government ). After that you can go back and make trouble. Some health workers can just be useless but let your loved one not pay for it. I think all the time the nurse's wasted stiching rubbish, all the time shouting for bed space were all precious time wàsteď and may have made a difference . God help our health system in Naija. Praying PMB and PYO give us our changi.

I was reading the story and I was full of anger and pain for this man! Why do Nigerians behave this way? Not everything should be blamed on the government, it seems Nigerians have lost their humanity if they ever had any to begin with and are just as good as the animals on the bush! Incredible!!! I am ashamed to be a Nigerian really, cause these people are so gaddamn backward!!!!

When a woman is registered for antenatal the doctors will know the how are previous pregnancies went, the size of the previous and index baby, wether she is hypertensive or diabetic, wether she has clotting dioder the location of her placenta etc..... These are things that can cause problem when u just show up suddenly in labour

Sad RIP to the dead. but there is something fishy somewhere. your wifes larbour started by 5a. m she drained liquor at same time. den u got to hospital around after 5 n your wife delivered immediately inside d car while u were trying to get them to open d doors. Hmmmm. na kwa e check. She had tears n developed 1' pph. d doctor at d first hosp could have at least done something to control d bleeding n keep her alive before referral. I wish d true circumstances will be unraveled. i have seen lots of people that would have gone to all the wrong places from TBA to Church den to Herbalist only to present to clinic when its critical n at times most of these hospitals doesnt even have a syringe not to talk of cannula. May God save us in this country. Fellow Naira landers please once ur wife is pregnant try n be saving some money every month even its 2k. u never can predict how dat particular pregnancy n delivery will be. Most people runaway from good hospitals because of cost only to end up spending much more n at times d ultimate price.
