You deserve a drink on me. This is one of the most lucid comments on this thread. It baffles me that with all of NOI's so called Harvard education she did see all the traps that were apparent in this transaction. How can you release funds that have not be appropriated to the NSA and expect the same NSA to be accountable for the funds? Does that make any sense to any reasonable person? I think she goofed here. She should just admit her mistake and apologize to Nigerians.

Boko Haram was a national emergency and she did the needful.

Nigerian government was actually in a war with Boko Haram and it's only wise the NSA be appropriately funded to prosecute the war. Truth be told, the NSA need more money than weapons during such emergency.

The soldiers on Frontline need to be fed.
Their troops and tanks need maintenance.
They need more fuel and gas to power their artillery and vehicles.
Mercenaries need to be paid.
Intelligence gathering need to be paid.

Allowing whole lots of miscellaneous expenses not captured need to be considered therefore it's imperative the office of the NSA handles more money.

Pmb is absolutely wrong to have released the bail out fund without NASS approval but did we have nass as at then, constitutionally he erred but the states desperately needed that money as at then, so he erred to please the masses.

If the money meant for arms so as to defeat insurgency was used for that purpose, it would have been very much OK even without the approval of nass and moreover why would nass not approve such.
But instead it was used to bribe all across the country to re elect one man while civilians are dying.

All tribes should condemn this act even if you are from otuoke.
God bless you for this comment. May God give chukwudi44 sense.

The problem I have is that you people ignored Buhari who disbursed ten times the amount of money involved in this case to the bailout packages for states without approval from the NASS!! What sort of hypocrisy is this?
The bail out package was sourced from dividends from the NLNG which by law are to be paid into the Federation Account. And all the states are entitled to a share from this account. So the President does not need the approval of the NASS to disburse to the states what is rightly theirs.

Each time they talk like liberated goats, okonji releases incontrovertible evidence of a sound mind which counters their empty but loud talk.

By the way, I heard those who accused GEJ of spending $64b on indepedence day celebrations have deleted it from their twitter feeds.

I hate to defend GEJ bc I think (purely my opinion) that he was a failed president. But APC people are masters of deception and lies.

And Buhari's presidency, established on lies, governing by propaganda, is a double disaster waiting to happen. Hebjas a read made online army, out to defend him in every way, everywhere, everytime and on every issue.

Unfortunately, truth is like pregnancy. . u cant hide it forever.

These people are bunch of jokers. The so called coordinating Minister is seeking approval to borrow a fund that was meant to form part of projected revenue to be appropriated(my interpretation;no approval in place yet to spend such money). That was why i said instead of seeking approval from the Presidency, a supplementary appropriation bill should have been sent to the NA for approval and she wouldn't be here today explaining herself.

I don't understand where the NSA was supposed to get the funds to payback what Madam was lending to them. It is also funny how madam expects NSA to account to the presidency alone when she was the one that requested for approval to transfer such funds. She is more than qualified to be on the President's security team as the coordinating minister of the economy(unless she doesn't trust herself) and should have demanded accountability of such funds using her power as the then minister of finance. Similar to Dokepsi case, she can be found guilty of conspiracy.

For me, really, it is not about whether the fund was appropriated or not, but my major concern is was the money used for what they claimed that they used it for?

Ya. You are right. Now you get my point. If igbo's were not marginalized after the war (where irrespective of the amount u had u were given paltry 20 pounds), injustice! They wouldn't have been desperate to survive and go into drugs.

But I hear the north has the highest rate of hard drug consumption. Maybe BH is a part of the effects of hard drug.

you can ask Google for more....

it's only people in Nigeria that will say govt should keep quiet about it and only charge them to court straight away lol . when in international arenas. foreign govts and investors are watching events closely .

I haven't seen any country (even north Korea that is a closed country) where high value individuals will be involved in scandals and the news won't be reported

The question is: does that memo now signify an illegal act or equivalent to embezzlement of funds? We easily forget the danger boko haram posed in the last administration and the outcry that the government was not doing enough that you the military was underfunded and lacked capacity.

We have a very short memory and APC fully aware of this turn it to their advantage. Compare what APC promised with what's on ground today? Then you see the need to provide distractions from the main issues of power, job loss, foreign exchange, unemployment, dead of small businesses, high cost of basic food items, etc and this issues seem unimportant but demonizing Jonathan government for the evil that befell us is top priority, thus there lies will be exposed.
Only the gullible are still fooled by this government
