PROFOUND KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOLY QUR'AN OF THE SAHABA, R.A.

Once Umar ibn al-Khattab, radiyAllahu anh, met a caravan on one of his journeys as caliph. It was pitch dark and the caravan could not be seen properly. Umar ordered someone to hail the caravan (to stop). (Now) it (so) happened that Abdullah ibn Masud, radiyAllahu anh, was in it (and who was of course well grounded in the knowledge of the holy Qur'an.

"From where do you come?" asked Umar.

"From a deep valley," came the reply.
The expression used "fajj 'amiq" was from the holy Quran (22:27) meaning "a distant hilly pathway".

"And where are you going?" asked Umar.

"To the ancient house," came the reply.
The expression used "al-bayt al-atiq, the ancient house, the ka'aba" was from the holy Quran 22:29

It looked like Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud, radiyAllahu anh, was on pilgrimage from Kufa where Umar, radiyAllahu anh, had sent him as a governor.

"There is a learned person (alim) among them," said Umar and he commanded someone to ask the person (the following further questions):

"Which part of the Quran is the greatest?"

"Allah. There is no god except Him, the Living, the Self-subsisting. Neither slumber overtakes Him nor sleep," replied the person answering, quoting the Ayat al-Kursi (the verse of the Throne).

"Which part of the Quran is the most clear on justice?"

"'God commands what is just and fair, the feeding of relatives . . .' " came the answer.

"What is the most comprehensive statement of the Qur'an?" " 'Whoever does an atom's weight of good shall see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil shall see it.' "

"Which part of the Qur'an gives rise to the greatest hope?"

"'Say, O my servants who have wasted their resources, do not despair of the mercy of God. Indeed, God forgives all sins. He is the Forgiving, the Compassionate.' "

Thereupon Umar asked: "Is Abdullah ibn Mas'ud among you?"

"Yes, by God," the men in the caravan replied.

The people of knowledge used to say:
"if the ignorant ones had kept quiet, people would have rested and they too would have rested".
"Knowledge is a point, but the ignorant ones have made it many".
I say:
"Dont ever try to imagine that you understand an issue in this deen better than the inheritors of the prophets i.e scholars, dont try it".
As the scholars have always advised:
KNOW YOUR LIMITS.!

‘Umar Ibn ‘Abdul ‘Aziz (Rahimahullah) heard that his son bought a ring for 1,000 dirhams, so he wrote a letter to his son, saying:
ﺑﻠﻐﻨﻲ ﺃﻧّﻚ ﺍﺷﺘﺮﻳﺖ ﺧﺎﺗﻤًﺎ ﻭﻓﺼّﻪ ﺑﺄﻟﻒ ﺩﺭﻫﻢ، ﻓﺈﺫﺍ ﺃﺗﺎﻙ ﻛﺘﺎﺑﻲ ﻫﺬﺍ ﻓَﺒِﻊْ ﺍﻟﺨﺎﺗﻢ، ﻭﺃﺷﺒﻊ ﺑﻪ ﺃﻟﻒ ﺑﻄﻦ، ﻭﺍﺗّﺨﺬ ﺧﺎﺗﻤًﺎ ﺑﺪﺭﻫﻤﻴﻦ، ﻭﺍﺟﻌﻞ ﻓﺼّﻪ ﺣﺪﻳﺪًﺍ ﺻﻴﻨﻴًﺎ ﻭﺍﻛﺘُﺐ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ : ﺭﺣِﻢ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺍﻣﺮﺀًﺍ ﻋﺮﻑ ﻗﺪﺭﻩ
“It has reached me that you bought a 1,000 dirham ring, so when this letter reaches you, sell the ring and fill 1000 stomachs (charity) Then buy a ring for 2 dirhams and the inside of it should be of iron and engrave on it the following words: “May Allaah have mercy on the person who knows his limits!”

So be like that - if Allah wills ...
Al-Hasan al-Basree (d.110H) – rahimahullaah – said:
“If there was a man who reached the first Salaf, then he (this man) was raised up today, he would not recognise anything of Islaam.” The narrator said: Al-Hasan put his hand on his cheek and said. “Except for this Prayer.” Then he said. “So – by Allaah – how is it for the one who lives in this bad time, not having reached the Salafus-Saalih. So he sees an innovator calling to his innovation, and a worldly person calling to the world, but Allaah protects him from that and makes his heart lean towards those Salafus-Saalih, asking about their way, seeking their narrations and following their path. Allaah will recompense him with a greet reward. So be like that – if Allaah wills.”

The great ascetic Shaqîq Al-Balakhî – Allâh have mercy on him – was once asked, “What is the mark of [true] repentance?” He replied, “Continued crying over past sins, deep fear of falling into them again, staying away from bad company, and keeping the company of good people.”

Shaykh Albani(Rahimahullaah) said: "It is upon every muslim to do two things when he comes across a hadith.

The first thing; is to see if it is saheeh(authentic), and you won't be able to do this except by applying a verse in the Qur'an. 'Ask the people of dhikr(knowledge) if you do not know' (16:43).

Ask the people of knowledge regarding the weak and authentic hadiths.

The second thing after you're told a hadith is saheeh, is to ask about its correct interpretation and meaning, and after such; a muslim will be upright in the religion of Allaah the Exalted, and in obedience to Rasulullaah(sallallaahu alayhi wassallaam)

QUESTION (437)
What is the ruling on displaying advertisements in the mosque about competitions, lectures or Islamic seminars, under the auspices of specific companies or schools?
ANSWER TO THE QUESTION
Praise be to Allaah.
Mosques are for worship, and it is forbidden to buy, sell and earn money therein, so it is not permissible to use the mosque as a means of advertising for companies, schools or anything else.
As for advertisements about religious lectures and seminars, there is nothing wrong with that, so long as that is not an advertisement for a specific committee, company, institution or the like.
See: Fataawa Ash-Shaykh Abdul-Azeez bn Abdullaah Aal Ash-Shaykh (Majallat Ad-Da’wah, 43).
May Almighty Allaah accept our prayer as an act of worship.

What is the difference between Imams an-Nawawi and Ibn Hajr and the innovators?

Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadee Al Madkhalee (hafidha-hullaah) also stated:

(Not) everyone who falls into bidah is declared an innovator; because if we were to adopt this principle, we would make Tabdee of the majority of the Imaams of Islaam. Shaikhul Islaam Ibnu Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:
‘Indeed many of the Salaf and the Khalaf fell into innovation without being aware of (it); either (due to) acting on a weak hadeeth or understanding the text (in a manner) other than what Allaah and His Messenger intended, or (due to) Ijtihaad.’

At present we have Imaams of Ijtihaad; and his/their Ijtihaad (can) lead him/them to mistakes or innovation. So, if we know (him) to be of a sound Manhaj and sound intent, being far removed from desires and being eager for the truth; if we know this about him and he falls into innovation, he is not declared an innovator.
But if we know him to be upon desires and evil intent, and we know of affairs about him showing that he desires innovation, he is declared an innovator. You find them (Salaf) passing the judgement of Tabdee on many people due to this.

And many people fell into bidah but were not called innovators; because they (Salaf) were acquainted with their sound and good intents, their eagerness for the truth and the soundness of the Manhaj they traversed.

THE END SHALL TELL!!!
Whenever you remember that you're on the straight path now remember, may Allah bless you, that you're not free until the last day of your life. Don't you remember the hadithus soodiqil masduuq in which the RASUL said: "some of you will be doing the actions of the people of paradise until there remains only a hand span between him and paradise so The Book will overcome him and he begins doing the actions of people of hell and he enters it and a person will be doing the actions of the people of hell until there's between him and he'll only a hand span between him and hell the The Book will overcome him and he begins to do the actions of the people of paradise and he enters it"
WHAT WE SHOULD FEAR MOST:
The RASUL said: "actions are judged by the last"
That is why when imam Ahmad was on his death bed and he was told by shaytan that he's free, he told shaytan he's not free until after death..... This is how we should be too.
EXTRA BENEFIT:
It is known that being relaxed and believing that your actions are good enough to pass you is from the major sins as is found in AL KABAAIR and it was also giving a chapter in KITAABUT TAWHEED that we should not feel Allah will surely put us into paradise nor should we lose hope of the forgiveness of Allah.
But we find scholars from the taabi'een saying: "I have done such and such and believe Allah will not punish me. If we look at this very well it means they believe they're free from Allah's possible punishment BUT THEY ARE WORKING BASED ON A HADITH OF THE RASUL IN WHICH THE RASUL SAID IF WE FEEL WE ARE IN OUR LAST DAYS WE SHOULD LET OUR HOPE OVERCOME OUR FEAR....... You can see this explanation in *at tamheed sharhu kitaabut tawheed*
DUA:
Oh Allah! Make our last days the best for us. Keep those of us on the right path firm and guide those of us making mistakes to return to Your ways..... Aamiin

There is a very beautiful story about Al fudayl Ibn Iyaad and how he became a pious muslim. He was a very close companion of Imam Malik
Re: Sayings and Stories Of The Salaf by AbuHammaad: 7:17pm On Mar 13, 2017
Al-Fudayl bin Iyaad was famous for his piety and worship, but he was not always a practicing Muslim. In his early years, al-Fudayl was an infamous highway robber; he would prowl in the night for victims on the road from Abiward to Sarakhs. Between these two cities was a small village in which lived a girl that al-Fudayl was in love with. One night, out of desperation to be with her, al-Fudayl climbed the wall of her home. As he was climbing over it, he heard a voice recite:

أَلَمْ يَأْنِ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنْ تَخْشَعَ قُلُوبُهُمْ لِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ

Has not the time come for the hearts of those who believe to be affected by Allah’s Reminder?

[Qur’an al-Hadeed : 16]

At that moment, al-Fudayl answered, “O my Lord, the time has indeed come.” He returned from where he came and sought refuge near a traveling party on the main road. They were busy engaging in a serious discussion. al-Fudayl heard one of them say, “Let us continue our journey now.” Another answered, “No, not until the morning, for al-Fudayl is lurking on the road somewhere out there, just waiting to rob us.”

Having heard the entire conversation, al-Fudayl thought to himself, “I go around in the night to sin, while a group of Muslims remain here because they fear me. Indeed i feel that Allah has brought me here to them only so that I can reform my character. O Allah, I indeed repent to you..”

It is reported that Imâm ‘Abdullâh b. Al-Mubârak – Allâh have mercy on him – was asked:

“Who are the [best] people?”
He replied, “The scholars.”
He was asked, “Who are the [real] kings?”
He replied, “the ascetics.”
He was asked, “And who are the dregs [of society]?”
He replied, “Those who use their religion as a means of devouring [wealth].”
He was asked, “Who are the rabble?”
He replied, “Khuzaymah b. Khâzim and his companions.”
And he was asked, “And who is the low person?”
He replied, “The one who talks about the rise in prices to his guest.”

QUESTIONS THAT ARE NOT BENEFICIAL SHOULD BE AVOIDED HENCE YOU GIVE ROOM FOR SHAYTAN.
Questioner: Shaikh of ours, are there people from the Companions, ya’nee, who will be called to account and punished and who will then [subsequently] enter Paradise, are there any who are of such a rank?
Al-Albaani: How does this question concern you?
Questioner: Wallaahi, it just occurred to me.
Al-Albaani: I don’t think it [just] occurred to you … this is a whispering [from the Devils] in some ways … how does it concern you? How does it concern you? Does this have any connection to your ’aqeedah, such that [you’re asking so] you can correct it?
Ask about things that concern you, Yaa akhi, because this is a door which the Devil enters through.

“The Sunnah is the ark of Nuh. Whoever boards it is saved, and whoever remains away perishes.”

“Knowledge does not consist in narrating much. Knowledge is but a light which Allah places in the heart.”

“None renounces the world and guards himself without then ending up speaking wisdom.”
