Questions For Neotic by toneyb: 5:11pm On Aug 03, 2009
Is the bible perfect and contains no contradiction what so ever? Are all the stories that were written about Jesus true? Are all the prophecies in the bible true? Did all the events in the bible and some concerning the life of jesus really happen?
Re: Questions For Neotic by noetic2: 5:22pm On Aug 03, 2009

Ok The bible is false as a historical document. Some of the historical recordings contained in it are correct while others(a lot) are false.  I don't want to deal with that aspect for now I will start by dealing with the bible and some of its prohecies that relates to other people or locations that can be traced through history. If you look at them you will realize that most of them are false.  Mazaje wrote them down some time ago and I will just post them here again. I will start with them and we will go ahead and talk about other historical facts that show that the bible is false because most of the events it recorded were false when compared to other historical accounts written by others that were alive at that time like Josephus, Pliny the elder etc.

The bible is false because it contains so many false prophecies. It contains prohecies where the bible god says that Things will DEFINATELY happen within a certain period and it ended up NOT happening showing that the bible is false. The writers only made wild predictions that turn out not to be true.

1. According to Ex 3:8, the Israelites will live in a large land, flowing with milk and honey, and according to 2Sa 7:10, the biblegod said that he will provide a place for them and they will not be disturbed anymore, but as a matter of historical fact Israel (and vicinity) has been a relatively small and mostly barren land, and the Israelites have been continually harassed from all sides up till today.

2. Many verses prophesy that the throne of David will endure forever and that there will never be a time without a man upon that throne. But in point of historical fact, the Davidic line of kings ended with Zedekiah. 450 yrs. later, the Maccabeans had a brief reign. But for 2000 years, there has been no Davidic king.

3. According to Isa 14:23, Babylon will become a swapland, but that never happened. According to Jer 51:36, Babylon will become totally dry, but that never happened either. According to other verses, Babylon will never be inhabited by people again and the biblegod said that he will completely cut of Babylon, her name and survivors, but in fact Babylon has been continually inhabited by people since that time. It is now part of Iraq.

4. According to Isa 17:1, Damascus will be destroyed, but in fact Damascus is one of the few ancient cities that has never been destroyed. [The fact that so many were destroyed makes prophecies of the future destruction of ancient cities rather unremarkable.] If Isaiah had predicted that Damascus would never be destroyed, then that would have been remarkable.

5. According to Isa 19:5, Eze 30:12, and Zec 10:11, the Nile River will dry up, and according to Eze 29:9-12, Egypt will become desolate for 40 years, with no man or animal passing through it and with all Egyptians dispersed, but as a matter of fact the Nile River has never dried up and in the whole history of Egypt no such calamitous events have ever occurred.

6. According to Isa 19:18, five Egyptian cities will speak the language of Canaan, but linguists and archeologists assure us that no Egyptian cities have ever spoken the language of Canaan.

7. According to Isa 34:9-10, Edom (the land between the Dead Sea and Gulf of Aqaba) will become burning pitch forever: no one will ever pass through it again because It's fire will not be quenched night and day; its smoke will rise forever. From generation to generation. But in truth that has never happened to Edom. People have passed through it for thousands of years up till today.

8. According to Isa 52:1, the uncircumcised and unclean will never enter Jerusalem again, but in fact such people have continually entered Jerusalem for thousands of years.

9. According to Jer 42:17, Jews who choose to live in Egypt will all die and leave no remnant. But history shows that Jews continued to live there for centuries, later establishing a cultural centre at Alexandria.

10. Zep 3:13 prophesied that the remnant of Israel will not sin or lie or be afraid, but in truth they were never so moral nor so fearless.

11. There are other false historical prophecies in the book of daniel that never took place councering certain people that lived and died like  Nebuchadnezzar and Jehoiakim.

So far when you look at the historical predictions or prophecies written in the bible about certain places and certain people that can be traced they all appear to be false they mostly never happened.

1. The prophecy in question was fulfilled, up until the time and demise of Joshua. subsequent events in israel that led to their captivity and enslavement and dismemberment from israel was subsequently prophesied.

So literally analyses of that prophecy suggests that it is a fulfilled prophecy.

2. Many verses prophesy that the throne of David will endure forever and that there will never be a time without a man upon that throne. But in point of historical fact, the Davidic line of kings ended with Zedekiah. 450 yrs. later, the Maccabeans had a brief reign. But for 2000 years, there has been no Davidic king.

ever heard of King Jesus?

When the bible says a "king from the lineage of David, for ever and ever". . ,  . it was not just referring to this world, but also the world to come. All hail King Jesus.

3. According to Isa 14:23, Babylon will become a swapland, but that never happened. According to Jer 51:36, Babylon will become totally dry, but that never happened either. According to other verses, Babylon will never be inhabited by people again and the biblegod said that he will completely cut of Babylon, her name and survivors, but in fact Babylon has been continually inhabited by people since that time. was a time specified for the fulfilment of this prophecy? No.

Also see answer three.

There are prophecies awaiting fulfilment. There is no reason to suggest that they would not be fulfilled.

6. According to Isa 19:18, five Egyptian cities will speak the language of Canaan, but linguists and archeologists assure us that no Egyptian cities have ever spoken the language of Canaan.

The same way scientists told us that the earth was flat. .  , and we later found out that it is round, just like the bible stated.
This is what isaiah 19:8 says
18 In that day five cities in Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to the LORD Almighty. One of them will be called the City of Destruction.

So if u can tell me when that day is. . .perhaps I'd know if the prophecy has been fulfilled or not.

The very known jerusalem or the new Jerusalem? there is a difference between the two. .  .so which of them do u think that the prophecy was referring to?

Isaiah 52:1
1 Awake, awake, O Zion,
       clothe yourself with strength.
Put on your garments of splendor,
       O Jerusalem, the holy city.
       The uncircumcised and defiled
       will not enter you again.

Neither Zion nor Jerusalem as stated above refers to the ones we know as of today.

9. According to Jer 42:17, Jews who choose to live in Egypt will all die and leave no remnant. But history shows that Jews continued to live there for centuries, later establishing a cultural centre at Alexandria.

Egypt denotes sorcery, divination and occultism in prophecy. Many times the original Egypt is not the subject of the prophecy. Thats the case of Jer 42:17

10. Zep 3:13 prophesied that the remnant of Israel will not sin or lie or be afraid, but in truth they were never so moral nor so fearless.

see answer 8

11. There are other false historical prophecies in the book of daniel that never took place councering certain people that lived and died like  Nebuchadnezzar and Jehoiakim.

why not list them?

I dont know all the prophecies in the bible. . . . .but I do know that prophetic interpretations is usually a function of hindsight spiritual revelation or just from ur world view. The latter explains ur understanding of the prophecies.

None of the prophecies listed above can be classified as unfulfilled.
Re: Questions For Neotic by Krayola2(m): 6:58pm On Aug 03, 2009
A lot of the "prophecies" were made after the fact. i.e events happened, someone "remembered" that some old prophet predicted it, then the story is documented. There were sooo many prophets that u knew the "real" ones by whether their prophecies came true or not, which was usually long after their deaths. That is the thing with the Bible, a lot of people have no idea how the books were written, they just read it and quote it.
Re: Questions For Neotic by Nobody: 8:52pm On Aug 03, 2009
Guys, guys, guys.

Stop arguing over whether or not the Bible is authentic or a pack of lies. There are Christians who have had definite, tangible experiences with God. It's not possible to convince people like that that the Bible is just a fairytale that was poorly spun by the Catholics. They're beyond stuff like this already.

Let go.

I have seen the lie and it makes me laugh. grin grin

why not list them?

The prophet Daniel incorrectly states that in the third year of the reign of King Jehoiakim, Nebuchadnezzar will conquer Judah.

The third year of Jehoiakim’s reign was 606 BCE, at which time Nebuchadnezzar was not yet king of Babylon. It was in 597 BCE that Nebuchadnezzar takes Jerusalem, by then Jehoiakim had died. Daniel claims Darius the Mede is a son of Ahasuerus (9:1), but the Behistun rock face inscription has Darius I claiming he is the son of Hystaspes, and the grandson of Arsames. This same inscription notes that rule was borne by Cyrus, then his son Cambyses, then a Gaumata the Magian who falsely claimed to be Smerdis the dead brother of Cambyses Moreover, in spite of Daniel being placed second to the King in both the Babylonian and Persian Empires, neither civilizations left even one record of his existence.

I dont know all the prophecies in the bible. . . . .but I do know that prophetic interpretations is usually a function of hindsight spiritual revelation or just from ur world view. The latter explains ur understanding of the prophecies.

Sure but you do know how to lie your way around no doubt.

I just want to deal with the historical accounts of events recorded in that bible that have been shown to be false when compared to other historical sources.

The gospel according to Matthew states that king Herod ordered the killing on all  male babies in bethlehem when jesus was born and jesus's parents had to escape with him to egypt. There is no historical evidence for this by King Herod, even though any such action would surely have been recorded by his many enemies among the Jews, This act would have been recorded in the works of historians like Josephus who wrote very much about herod and all he did. This story exists only in the gospel of matthew and no where else. Is is an event that was said to have happened but lacks historical support outside the gospel according to matthew. Contemporary writers like Josephus would have written about it it it really happened.

The gospel of matthew also talked about the bodies of the dead jewish saints raising from the dead and walking across jerusalem for everybody to see when jesus was crucified. No contemporary jewish historian has ever written or mentioned anything like that, This extra ordinary event would have been recorded by at least one of the historians at that time or would have appeared in another document. There were so many contemporary writers at that time that would have recorded this extra ordinary event if it ever took place. The fact that this story appears only in the gospel of matthew which was written about 60 or more years after the events that it was narrating and does not appear in any other historical document of that time shows that the story is non historical and is a lie.

What part of the above verse suggests a time-line?

If only you read the whole chapter you will see where it says that those things were to happen during the reing of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon. Ezekiel predicted Babylon would conquer Egypt and was wrong It never happened.

Eze30:10  Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also make the multitude of Egypt to cease by the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon.
Eze 30:11 He and his people with him, the terrible of the nations, shall be brought to destroy the land: and they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain.
Eze 30:12  And I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked: and I will make the land waste, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I the LORD have spoken it.

There are very very few records that talk about Jesus out side the bible(even though the most famous one by Josephus is believed to be a forgery and an interporlation done by some catholic bishops).

Non of these records say anything or make any claim about what the gospels say about jesus like him rasing the dead, walking on waters, healing the sick and claiming to be god or the son of god. The gospels do not hide their bias because some of them they say that these things were written so that people will believe them. The gospels are theological narratives written by people that want to teach about a new religion and a new god. They are not actual historical documents.

The veracity of the documents can be made more credible if actualy historical events that were narrated in them could be supported by other outside sources or documents that were impartial and not baised in any way. Killing of the innocent for example is an event that would have been recorded by some one else. The fact that it appears only in the gospel of matthew shows that it is non historical since the author of matthew was writing about 50 years after the events he was narrating.

The writers of the bible made very false predictions that can be checked like Edom (the land between the Dead Sea and Gulf of Aqaba) saying that it become burning pitch forever and that no one will ever pass through it again because It's fire will not be quenched night and day its smoke will rise forever because the placed has been cursed by the crazy jewish warrior god from generation to generation or by saying that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon will conquer Egypt and the river Nile will dry up for a certain duration. Our deluded apologist (Neotic) is now trying to say that the nonsense that was written had no specific time even though the book of Ezekiel not only mentions that names of some of the cities that were to be affected it also mentions the name of the King that will conquer Egypt. grin grin grin.

A person magically turning water into wine, walking on the sea, will surely be classified as fiction in today's world. A person dividing the sea into two or commanding the sun not to set will also be classified as fiction. . . . . But not in Nigeria because some people believe that pastor Adeboye drove for over 300km on an empty tank. As usual he was alone when it happened and there is no body to help him sell that dangerous lie. . . . . . . .

grin grin grin. Is there a time line when it says that the Jews will not be disturbed or attacked any more?

You know exactly what I was talking about, I was only trying to look at the claims of the bible that can be verified historically to see it they have any support outside of the bible. Your attempt to turn it into a spiritual bout is shameful.

This is what the bible says about Babylon, it says that Babylon will never be inhabited by people again and the biblegod said that he will completely cut of Babylon, her name and survivors, but in fact Babylon has been continually inhabited by people since that time.  So how has babylon as we know it become just as the bible says it will become?
will u stop embarrassing urself?  grin grin

If you read from verse one you will see that some cities that were mentioned in the so called prophecy are no longer in existence. You fradulent attempt to make it timeless is shameful.

Your fradulent attepmt to use the lack of time line as an excuse is pathetic and ridiculous. I just showed you where it says it was meant to happen during the time of Nebuchadrezzar king of babylon.

I hate to ask. . .but do u still understand the subject matter?  grin grin grin grin

Does the fact that some of the cities are now nihilant. .  . .does that fact exclude the possibility of the prophecies coming to pass?
is time not a factor in these prophecies?

The bible was never right in stating that the earth is a cirlce. The earth is not a circle but a sphere. The bible only says that the biblegod sits above the circle of the earth with four corners.

More nonsense drivel. If the earth has 4 pillars then I will like you to show me where the are. grin grin. Are you a nut case?

Ok I accept my mistake here.

whats the rubbish above for?

science says that the earth is flat. . . .is the earth flat?
The bible says the earth is a circle. . .is that wrong?

whats the meaning of the above ?

a. whats ur evidence to suggest that Jesus never turned water to wine?

b. why do u choose to discard the enormous evidences that suggest that the red sea was parted?

you just choose to ignorantly open ur mouth, and ejaculate any rubbish that comes forth from it.

Keep in mind that when these people wrote down what ever they had in mind there was no seperation between fiction or non fiction as we have today.

It beats me how u continue to live a lie.

There are NUMEROUS records outside of the bible that establish that Jesus existed. You can start from here: http://www.probe.org/site/c.fdKEIMNsEoG/b.4223639/k.567/Ancient_Evidence_for_Jesus_from_NonChristian_Sources.htm

Again, that u choose to ignore or disbelief this records/evidences does not in any way discredit them.

Toneyb said when the bible was written there was nothing like fiction and non fiction, the fact that you foolishly believe and accept the fictions that were written in the bible does not change them from remaining what they are(fiction).

You keep using words any how, what do you mean by enormous evidence that suggest the red sea was parted? Do you know that archeologist and historians do not even agree as to which direction exactly the Israelites were supposed to have followed assuming that they actually enslaved in egypt(The egyptian record does not have anything to show that they were ever enslaved there). NO egyprtian record talks about Moses or Joseph even though they were placed very close to the kings of egypt according to the lies written in the bible.

do archaeologists necessarily have to agree on the path the israelites took?
There is sufficient evidence that supports the parting of the red sea. . .which is enough. . . what else are u screaming for?

I don't fee my self any lie inother to feel good, you on the other han have to accept the obvious lies, myths an imaginations of ancient fools who believed that it was right to rape virgins an sacrifice some to their god simply because they were from a different tribe or religion.

There is ACTUALLY no records to show that the Israelites were ever enslave in egypt outside the lies that were recorded by them in their torah and you are here talking about "sufficient evidence" that supports the parting of the red sea? grin grin grin grin grin.

of course u do. u delusively tell urself every day that there is No God, when u have little or no evidence to show for it.
u wax in ignorance and deception every day with little or no concrete basis for disbelieving the claims of the bible.
you are so helplessly ignorant.

how do u intend to dismiss the evidences that ESTABLISH that the red sea parted for the children of israel to pass?

Is josephus not a jew? . Was he not writing about the jewish history that he came to accept as the "truth"? The ancient Egyptians have no records of moses(grew in the house of the king) or joseph even though the bible says that there were very close to the kings an in the case of joseph even ruled along side the king. . . . . . .

Josephus being a jew signifies exactly what? that his entire historical records are false even though quite a lot of it are ARCHEOLOGICALLY TRUE? undecided
