bro, our problem is lack of dedication and patriotism. I have been working with construction companies and still working now. Most of the foreigners they bring in don't know anything, almost everything is done by nigerian engineers and technicians - apart from the actually design which is done outside the country - the builing/fabrication/construction part is done by nigerians. The foreigners are just supervisors to make sure the job is done, most of them can't even read, interpret drawings. Almost everything reading fabrication and construction is done by nigerians including CAD versions of "AS BUILT" is done by nigerians.

It should remain a pipe-dream. It is a colossal waste of resources to subsidize petroleum products to the extent Venezuela does - the products will simply float over the borders to Niger and Benin where it is worth many times more. Our problem isn't economic dependence, it is laziness.

Corrupt Nigerians are by far the greatest problem. Oil production in Angola is dominated by Western Majors, yet with their ingenuity, they are building refineries and infrastructure at a massive rate due to their involvement of the Chinese. Infrastructure is what we need, by using our oil revenue NOT some power crazed seizure of assets in an attempt to play saviour.

Let every geo political zone build 2 refinieries and power station (private ownership only), and Federal govt build roads, railways, airports, sea termninals to transport goods and people, the country will grow like never been seeing before.

In Nigeria, we somehow still need a 'dictatorial democracy' with paralel result. so a govt comes into office, restict some human rights of thieves and coorupt people while at the same time set out infrastructural building pogrammes that start from month 1, so the people are able to see the dividends of democracy starting immediately like Fashola is doing in Lagos.

It is doable, whether it will be done is another matter because some people benefit from what I called 'CHAOS PLC'

Something will have to give, everyday is for the thief, one day is for the owner, NIGERIAN's day is one day away.

Nationalization is not the answer, good governance and responsible leadership is the answer. Our own government has not succeeded in anything, so govt should stay out of business, all they do is to share resources that ended up in the west.

I think you are misunderstanding me, what i meant was that if we are patriotic to our country and dedicated to work, we can manage our refineries. This was in response to the issue of our inability to run the refineries.

When you are patriotic and dedicated you will not be blinded by corruption and run down an establishment you are managing.

I have never supported the idea of seizure" if that happens where are we going to get the spare parts for replacement? Little knowledge i have about oil and gas machinery most of the machines are not compatible eg. if you buy a gas turbine from siemens, you can only get the parts from them and not another company. So, if we seize assets of foreign companies especially the europe/american, that will spell doom, which is what they are doing to Iran.

Alternatively you can decide to buy substandard equipment from china for trial and error, which in the end is more expensive, and will still lead to dependence.

If you don’t control the industry, your development will be in the hands of the foreigners.

For point 5 and accompanying paragraph, this is the exact type of childish argument I didn't want to get involved in. You see mathematics doesn't lie and it doesn't care about politics. When you put the same numbers into the same formula and you get the same results everytime. I could care less if the numbers are Nigerian or Alien.

For example, if Iran came out and announced the UK had entered a reccession, I wouldn't throw away that claim just because they happen to be anti-British.
