Those who are beneficiaries of the present political structure would never wish for the rearrangement and realignment of the status quo. Thats to tell you how foolish and self centered our leaders can be.

Northerners are the current beneficiaries of this status quo and they would ensure nothing like restructuring or even disintegration sees the light of the day. They have the president, they have the numbers at the national assembly, they are united on national issues so we from the 5 percenters should go f*0*k ourselves, our Lord's the 97 percenters have spoken.

Nigeria lost it when it's citizens lost the spirit of nationalism, in America and other developed climes, you hear them consider what's best for the country before party lines and tribal lines...

Nigeria is so messed up
Well, we can now see clearly that whatever Jonathan's weaknesses as an accidental president, he's clearly one leader who saw something wrong with the warped structure of Nigeria. And duly convened a Confab.

After all the coups & political upheavals that OBJ witnessed right from when Jonathan was still a baby, 3 years as a military leader & 8 years as a civilian president, OBJ has still not seen anything wrong with the structure of Nigeria.
As the biggest net beneficiary of current Nigeria, he won't see any problem with the set up.

But he will go down in history as having presided of 11 years of our checkered and woeful existence since independence.

Obasanjo should be happy he's from a country like Nigeria where things aren't done in proper manner, assuming our country is like North Korea he would have been executed by now, to your question when this wicked man was the military leader in 1979 he used his deception attitude to established Operation Feed the Nation, and manipulated everything about the project, personalized the ownership and changed the name to the famous OTA Farm in Ogun state we all know today.

I still maintain that he's lucky that he found himself in a country like Nigeria where Religion and Tribal sentiments has overwhelmed our senses. Don't think am from eastern part of the country, I share same tribe name with this old fool called OBJ
....on the operation feed the nation issue d persuasive suosion to the populace was encouraged by govt to mk every one grow feed to feed them self to an extend....then most ppl started to plant some sort of food crop in thier vineyard and in the spirit of agricultural revolution, obj..established a farm in otta Ogun state in a large scale..there he started the otta farms...it was never in Anytym in history a govt farm..its just dt he established it while he was a sitting military leader as a personal farm....well,thanks for your idea at all all...I said three reasons, you only gave one..nd the one isn't even on solid fact...merely on emotional hatr..believe me wen I say it..obj is the best nigerian ever..better than awolowo..and the rest of them

You know what will happen when oil becomes irrelevant, the nation will disintegrate.

Northerners are only interested in what they can get out of Nigeria, in fact, ALL Nigerian's are only interested in what they can get from the nation, whether they be Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa-Fulani.

Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani people are the only groups that currently benefit from being in Nigeria, the Yoruba's benefit by having Lagos situated in their land, and the North enjoys by from having a constitution that benefits them to the detriment of the nation at large.

If you remove these two benefits, i.e. give Lagos special status and alter the constitution, then both groups Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani people would quickly join Igbo people in their clamour for their own sovereign nations.

In a country where there's no real sense of patriotism, if you have ask yourself, why, for example, a Yoruba person can be an advocate for the unity of Nigeria, but at the same time, hate Hausa people, or hate Igbo people, it's because he/she is only looking at Nigeria from what he/she benefit from it.

Maybe u too should start looking at it from where u benefit from Nigeria...

Olusegun Obasanjo says what Nigeria needs now is not restructuring of the country but that of individual mentality - He claimed he is not in support of restructuring agitation

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQOHbZRAsc0

The former president however called on Nigerians to understand their country as he distanced himself from ongoing calls for the country's restructuring by some Nigerians home and abroad.

Obasanjo who made this known on the sidelines of the just concluded African leadership forum in Johannesburg said Nigerians should restructure their minds before calling for restructuring of the country.

Very insensitive of him at this moment

Rejected restructuring just like Nigerians rejected his third term bid.

Jonathan was still a weakling to convene a confab he never had the political will to implement, all are part of the problem.
No ex-leader has the morality to progress solutions he could have implemented when he was head of state

Jonathan had 6 months after Confab report was submitted. And it would need to go through NASS. You obviously have no idea how long and tedious that would be. So you think election campaign period was a good time to begin such a process? With everyone raising funds and preparing for election? Talk is cheap p.
You need to understand democracy first. Even a developed country like UK, it is not that easy.
Jonathan began the process. What has Buhari done? What did OBJ do in 8 years to to restructure. Your strong "dictators" did nothing. I think gra-gra military culture has made people look at anyone following rule of law as weak. You need to look beyond your narrow 9ja horizon and see how law and democracy are allowed to work in civilised places.

It is by force,go and read the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, why do you think we have the Nigerian Army,to protect our borders from invasion and protect the unity of Nigeria,if you want to die young go and question the Nigerian Army, politicians will talk, the Army will react.

Nigeria as a country don't have a constitution, maybe you are talking about constitution of the Govt officials because they are the only set of people that 1999 constitution favored. It sadden my heart, why we the commoners still gives support to these politicians, people that caged many lives because of their inept attitudes they take us for a ride every time just because we aided their impunity acts, before we the masses of this country can have a better life we have must established UNITY OF PURPOSE within ourselves that would be the number one weapon we should possess to fight against the rogues we have in Government Settings.

Can you recite the Nigerian National Anthem, meditate on it for some time and then conceptualize UNITY in the context of the advocates of One-Nigeria.

Listen carefully: you can't appreciate the need for a united Nigeria if you don't understand unity. The event that people are united doesn't mean they don't have differences and disagreements but they resolved to be united despite the differences.
A bunch of broom gets weaker when broken into several bunches, so much that some bunches broken-out of the main bunch can't effectively perform the functions of a broom.

I stand to be corrected, if you can't unite in Nigeria you will not be able to unite in Biafra. Unity is a function of the mind; a resolution to stay together come what may; a marriage of different persons with common goals that can be achieved effectively together(as one).

I am an advocate of One-Nigera and restructuring of Nigeria. It is important for each state to control, develop and mine her resources and ultimately contribute to the federal government. In essence, power should be decentralized and government arms closer to the people should be more equipped with resources to improve and develop Nigeria. Revenue sharing formula should change - Local governments should take most revenue, state governments should take more and federal government should the rest.
so, what point are you trying to make? I strongly suggest that you try to grasp the thesis of my write-up before you respond. Cheers.
