A father's advice will always be DEEP. Am sure her mum wanted her to marry Mr. A because his father is the senior Priest of thier church and she thought that her daughter marrying the Senior Priest's Son will boast image in front of her fellow mumu Women.

Wrong. The girl's parents are Catholics and guy's dad is Pentecostal. Catholics hardly agree to marry outside the Catholic Church unless you convert to Catholic. So her mom opposed the marriage.

no she wanted an opportunity to be sleeping with him, such shameless hag of a mother putting her interests before her daughters.

Weird. Seems you read a different report from what the lady narrated. The mom opposed the marriage when the guy refused to wed in the Catholic Church. How did you read about the mom looking for opportunity to sleep with the guy and being a shameless mother? Or are you talking from personal experience?

either you didn't read the story or your brains can't understand the simple English the lady wrote or you are just plain brain lazy . The mother is the one that was against the wedding ever taking place

Exactly.

For some reasons, I do not totally condemn the guy. While I do not support violence in any form,can we please stop to think that this guy is in a loveless marriage...Our Op would definitely have known if Mr. A was prone to violence. In this world, people sometimes do things out of pride/foolishness; he may have married another woman because of this and as a result is unhappy and realises everyday the mistake he made and being a Pastor's son too 'spiritual' to get a divorce.

Again, I do NOT support violence and I can never hit a woman but...well, what do I know?
There is something fishy about the story. The lady took the guy home ,her family objected due to one reason and 2 months after he got married to another lady!!!
Does that mean he met the second lady within 2 months and quickly married her or he was dating her while dating the other other lady? Which means the guy is most likely a cheater and a liar. Secondly why the rush if everything is normal and he truly loves the lady? he could have waited and tried to reach a compromise with the lady family.

For real? All these for a comment I made that was taken in bad light? How you came to multiple conclusions from me supporting a domestic abuser to me being happy about it and deserving beating is funny.

Well, thank you!
using marriage as a bait to degenerate a fellow lady by asking that question is not funny.
to each,their own.

Young woman, your family ruined ur life already. Religion ruined ur life as well. You were not ready for marriage simple. And how are you sure that ur eventual catholic husband won't be worse than mr A? Grow up.

This is the problem with many of you NLers/young folks. Your comprehension is ridiculously and embarrassingly off-tangent. You simply introduced perspectives that are exact opposite of what is in the writeup

Multiple relationship is common among Nigerians. Little or no trust.

Was she ever abused by the guy? I dont understand this narrative, is she mocking the status of an ex guy or what? So she is still checking on the life of a man who decided not to marry her shebi.every person's tale is different,she and her father should grow up and move on.

Sorry to derail your thread, but how true is this about introverts?

Have been told to advise people to marry more of introverts if they happen to meet one.

Reason being;
-They have integrity.
-They hate drama or attention seeking issues
-They are conservatives.
-They are good financial planners.
-They are intelligent and acute thinkers.
-They are the best advisers you can get.
-Once you can break one, you have your prince charming.
-They rarely cheat.
-They are barely broke.
-They are neat and tidy

What you said about introverts are true. I am one but I am trying to break out of it. I have come to understand extroverts are the ones with more friends, more connected so they do better in business.

I'm definitely getting married to an extrovert. The home will be too boring for two introvert couple.

Don't mind them monitoring spirit. They are where monitoring ours lives. My prayer is we should be successful in all ramification so no one will laugh at us saying "I told you".

US-Based Nigerian lady @zynnnie on Twitter has narrated how her father saved her from an abusive relationship after a simple dispute with her fiance over wedding venue.

It turns out the guy had issues with violence. He went ahead to marry someone else and years later, he was locked up for beating his wife.

Read the story below;
"At 24,Mr A wanted to marry me,I was excited about it and was eager to take him home.This relationship wasn’t consummated cos I was/is a typical keep your equipment to yourself kinda girl.I snuck out of school to visit him numerous times until it was time for him to meet my parent

My mum liked him immediately mostly cos he was a doppelgänger of my late elder brother. she gave her blessings but it immediately went south upon realizing that he is a Pastor’s son, a general overseer’s son and we are Catholics. My parents are knight of the church .

He refused to wed me in my church and my mum refused I wed outside Catholic Church. Oh my father never said a word. He is annoyingly very calm in times a chaos, he was just smiling at me and my rants.

Everything was called off and I really didnt like my mum at that point, I felt robbed but my father told me something that eventually saved my life. I went to my dad and this man made me narrate the whole story to him. My father is very wise and intelligent.

My dad told me to date Mr A for one more year and after that he will tell me what to do to change my mother’s heart.I asked if he was suggesting I get pregnant and he said”I didn’t say that cos if you get pregnant,you will have the baby in my house and u will still not marry him”

Two months later, Mr A called me that he was getting married to another girl that his daddy arranged for him. I was broken and sad, I called my mum and was ranting on how she ruined my life and made Mr A marry another girl. My dad once again didn’t say a word.

I called my dad and told him then he said, “I knew you guys had no business getting married if something as common as venue of the wedding was an insurmountable problem, I just needed you to see it for yourself”

My dad’s statement woke me up from slumber and something clicked. I wiped my tears immediately and said thank u daddy. He started hailing me with his usual Ada obodo oyibo’m and Ada kpokee nkee kpokee nkee ( I don’t know what that last one means but he calls me that)

I remembered this story cos my dad asked about Mr A today. I told him that his father in law locked him up for beating his daughter and my dad nearly died of laughter.

End of thread. Moral lesson, what an elder sees sitting down, a young person may not see standing on top the tallest iroko tree. There is wisdom in the words of our parents. (NB: If you grew up in an abusive home then this thread is not for you)"

Lol There was nothing violent about his refusal to marry you in the Catholic church. He is a wife beater, fine! I am glad you did not end up with a violent person. But please, let's be objective here, if wedding venue is "ordinary" as you put it here, why do you Catholics insist always that when a person is marrying a member of your church, the wedding must take place in your church? Why? Wedding venue is not ordinary, if it were, you and your family would have easily conceded to his demand.

I am one too bro. Don't need to break out of it. You can make the best of it! About extroverts having more friends, that may be true, but remember, Judas was a friend to Jesus too! Managing "many" friends can be exhaustive and time consuming. The extrovert may be quite entertaining and fun to be with, but the introvert's insight trumps it all! About connection and business acumen, introverts too have excelled in business. Bill Gates - Introvert, Mark Zuckerberg - Introvert, our very own Aliko Dangote - Introvert. So you see, introversion does not limit your capacity to excel in business. There is a book titled "Quiet" by Susan Cain which talks so much about the secret power of the introvert. You can also look for her TEDtalk on youtube. Wish you the best.

It may be wedding venue or choice of toothpaste.. A man that cannot compromise on little issues with the woman he loves would be difficult to please and may resort to physical violence or emotional blackmail if you dare to insist on your opinion

I Iike your perspective. This looks like ;

1. She was still "monitoring".... probably "first love" affection still strong.
2. The guy must have been daft and ridiculously proud to boot. I do not know which culture allows the groom to dictate to brides parents the terms of the marrying their daughter. How can you insist on not wedding in the the bride's parents' church?
3. I do not think he's a serial cheater. I imagine being the son of a Go, and seeing how his parents are worshipped like gods, he imagined all men should treat him like that, including his potential wife and parents-in-law.
4. I imagine he would have been like "wtf? Plenty babes in my father's church dying to marry me, this one dey do yanga" . So his parents got him a wife sharp-sharp. Who wouldn't want to marry into GO's family. Our Catholic wife can go to blazes. What is there in wedding to organize in less than 2months for a Go's family?
5. They guy now got married and realized that great mistake he made, hence took frustration on wife.

It has all the trappings of lack of humility, self-aggradisement, and lack of wisdom. He could have married this classic good-family-background Catholic sister. He is probably not a wife beater, but a frustrated soul.

But what do I know?
