@Chinenye: The only group that has vehemently opposed their inclusion in Abia state is Umunneochi LGA. Till this day, they still want to join up with their Okigwe brothers in Imo state.
If you are interested, I can elaborate on that.

ngwa is very much bigger than nnewi and both can therefore not be compared.anambra is the smallest state in nigeria but has the highest population density.ngwa has boundary with imo,akwa-ibom and rivers state while nnewi has boundary with only imo state.ngwa has 7 lgas while nnewi has 2.as for igboland we should first agree on a standard definition of igbo before declaring where it stops.igbos are obviously in akwa-ibom.here is a little evidence http://nigerdeltacongress.com/garticles/gassing_an_unsuspecting_communit.htm

INTRODUCTION
Ohoabu-Ndoki Community is located in Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The local inhabitants are predominantly fisher folks and subsistence farmers. The community, which has a population of about 10,000 people, is largely underdeveloped and lacks basic amenities, such as
pipe born water, hospitals and electricity.

COMMUNITY'S FARMLANDS APPROPRIATED FOR GAS AND PIPELINES PROJECT
ERA's investigations at Ohoabu-Ndoki Community reveals that the Nigerian Gas Company, in 1996, forcefully appropriated vast track of farmlands from Ohoabu-Ndoki Community and contracted Saipem, an Italian oil servicing firm, to build a liquefied gas station and pipelines on the land. Prime
forests, sacred groves, and different cash crops were destroyed during the process of building the gas station and laying of pipelines, to be used to convey gas to other industrial complexes in the Niger Delta.

Mr. Albert Nnah, a Community Leader in the area, informed ERA that when the local people attempted to protest the injustice in 1996, they were harassed and brutalised by security agents brought in by the Nigerian Gas Company. He explained that the community people were also warned by officials

The paramount ruler of the community, Chief Paul Nwagbara, informed ERA that the atmosphere is charged and that a devastating fire outbreak could occur if any inflammable substance is taking near the vicinity of the gas station. He explained that the fear of possible fire outbreak in the community is already causing the residents to escape to neighbouring villages. He appealed to the Nigerian Gas Company and other government agencies to quickly come and close the valve and possibly shut down the gas station.

ERA Field Monitors were later shown the fresh graves of two persons alleged to have died as a result of breathing problems, occasioned by the gas pollution. The names of those confirmed dead are Madam Esther Nwankwo and Master Uche Amadi.

as for crossriver, the present governor is an igbo man from legbo.legbo igbo has been granted minority status by nigerian government but speaks ehugbo(afikpo igbo) which to me is actually the most difficult igbo.

I was wondering why when GJ went to visit the Governor and GJ were wearing Igbo attire , This thread is really informative.

as for igboland we should first agree on a standard definition of igbo before declaring where it stops.
I thought I was the only one who felt this way. Thank you, Abagworo.
Re: The True Extent Of Alaigbo (Igboland) by EzeUche22(m): 12:04am On Aug 21, 2010
Of course Afikpo Igbo is the most difficult to understand. If an Afikpo man speaks his lect of Igbo 95% of other Igbos will not understand what he is saying. Maybe an Abiriba or Uburu Igbo would understand.

Did you see the link I posted earlier? L.G.A politics in Nigeria is funny, so don't use it. Nnewi will not even want to be balkanized further. Autonomous community is not our thing.

I posted the land areas before which shows that Nnewi is actually TWICE the size of Ngwaland.

I will post it again.

Nnewi:

As of 2006[update], Nnewi has an estimated population of 391,227 according to the Nigerian census. The city spans over 1,076.9 square miles (2,789 km2) in Anambra State.[3] Nnewi Metropolitan Area and its satellite towns is a home to nearly 2.5 million residents As of 2005[update]. Dimensionally, Nnewi has an edge over all other units, being recognized by the 1953 figures as the largest inland town of all others in the Eastern states.[4]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nnewi

Ngwa:

Ngwa are a subgroup of the Igbo people of Nigeria. The Ngwa constitute one of the largest homogeneous cultural and dialect groups in Igboland, occupying an area of about 1328 square kilometers composing the administrative divisions of Aba Urban and Ngwa in Abia State.[1]

It comprises 6 local government areas, this was done by the government for administrative convenience.

If Nnewi is as fractious as Ngwaland, we would have about 8 or 9 L.G.As . So don't use L.G.A.

i suspect you have not travelled round igboland.ngwa is larger than half of anambra in landmass.maybe you mean population.aba is part of ngwaland and is the 2nd largest city in southeast after enugu and second most populous after onitsha.i might just go google and show u.that wiki article is incorrect.

Most of non-indigene outnumber the Ngwa population of Aba. That is why they scream marginalization in their own backyard. A lot of Anambra people in Aba.

what a load of hogwash!
there will never be an Ngwa state or any more states for that matter.
just go back to zones, GOSH! i think that would work a lot better than this "states" crap.
even the talk of "states" gives me a headache.

we are talking about landmass. That wiki article gave nnewi more landmass which is wrong.i have traveled round nnewi but the little part of ngwa i have been to is larger.

Get the records straight. Ngwaland do not share any boundary with Rivers state. South of Ngwaland is Ukwaland, and Ukwaland shares boundary with Rivers state.
@Onlytruth: Ngwaland is by far bigger than Nnewi and Ekwusigo.
Re: The True Extent Of Alaigbo (Igboland) by Abagworo(m): 12:32am On Aug 21, 2010
ngwa is larger than the entire area occupied by nnewi, onitsha, ozubulu and awka-etiti combined.just visit google earth or you might force me to act like becomerich.

ngwaland has boundary with etche and omuma in rivers state
Re: The True Extent Of Alaigbo (Igboland) by ikenwan: 12:36am On Aug 21, 2010
Yeah, I agree with THE_AMAKA. Creating more states will only be an advantage politically if Ndigbo knew how to work together. We clearly do not, as evinced by this thread, so the best thing is to consolidate those that we have. I mean, do we really need more reasons to break apart?
Re: The True Extent Of Alaigbo (Igboland) by ChinenyeN(m): 12:38am On Aug 21, 2010
I actually like the idea of autonomous regions (if that's what you mean by 'zones') more than states.
