that small thing called toothpick requires almost 10 machines to produce one stick, it's not a business that makes profit easy hence people shy away from it.U need xtreem low overhead to make it work.

Keep it up my Governor. You started with the Garment factory, then the calabar pharmaceutical company, then the rice city. Ogoja rice mill and cocoa processing plants ongoing. Now tooth pick factory. gradually cross River shall be industrialized.

A good initiative! Finally we'll stop spending our hard earned dollars on the importation of toothpick. Wood is available everywhere in Nigeria, yet we've been importing toothpick for centuries.

I hope another governor will wake up to realise that we need a matchstick company in the country. Something that basic is still being imported from India, Sweden, Indonesia etc

Importers of all this product of which all this factory springing up in Nigeria will never be happy. Because the more we manufacture their IMPORTED products locally the more unhappy they become. But on the long run is better for Nigeria. Importers better look inward especially for product that can be manufactured locally.

That is the biggest challenge manufacturing companies face in Nigeria - Raw Material!

By the time you are done importing raw material, the finished good will be more expensive than the imported material hence retailers will still prefer to import and sell at a higher profit margin than buy from you the producer.
