Good evening and happy sunday dog lovers.
It's been abit hectic buh we thankGOD for life.
XENA is doing fine and no sickness have been recorded so far, i deworm her every 2wks and make sure she takes her routine vaccine.

Back to our last post about increasing her meal as advised by my pals IamAnderson and Vincentjk.
I did increased her meal, but this girl kinda do her thing her way, she eats the quantity she needs and when she needs it and leaves the rest.

Now!!
How do i serve her meal?
I mix her kibbles with dry meat in the morning then when bk in the evening, i will serve her 4 or 5pieces of chicken head, and 2 or 3 pieces of chicken neck (boiled)
Then i'll add up her kibbles for over the night, infact i ensure that there is always kibbles and dry meat in her bowl.

Why serving kibbles and chicken on diff bowls?
Well, it's never my intention to do such, buh i realised that our dogs have their diff ways of prefrence.
I was super excited when i was told that xena will smash her kibbles when mixed with chic

Chicken broth, as no dog will say no to chicken broth.
To my greatest suprise, Xena suprised me, she turned down on derica of kibbles mixed with chicken broth.
I was like "na shakara bdis, u go chop when u hungry" buh my girl left it to spoil.
I still tried it 2nd and 3rd time, same thing applies.
Menh i wasted 3derica of diamond kibbles.

Then i served my girl chicken broth separately, she smashed it.

I served her with diamond kibbles mixed with dry meat, she did justice to it.

Then i comfirmed that xena don't like her kibbles wet.

So far, xena is just on dog food, the first time i tried introducing rice, she rejected it.
Pls if there is any special way of preparing any palatble meal for dogs, i am keen to learn.

Then on the part of fruit.
I am yet to identify the fruit she loves, tho i never started it early, the first and only time, i introduce carrot, she just piecesed and played with, same as apple.
I am open to adopt any measure to meet up to any standard.

Note that i still give her boiled egg,
Re: My Female Boerboel .... Her Name Is "Xena" by MrrKay(m): 8:26pm On Oct 20, 2019
Bioncal calcium tab (1/day)
Essential multivictamin (1/day)
Cordliver oil, ( not often)
Aegis booster (not often)

Have stopped giving her bullymax for nw.

Have stopped given her catfish and it's parts, last week i bought her a whole catfish, boiled and serve her a portion, this girl just picked some and left the remaing, after serving another portion, samething happened, then i decided to take a break on the part of catfish.

I don't know about this, i was told that some breed of dogs starts developing body mass after they must have grown to a certain height.
I am still open to clarification.

Meanwhile.
A week ago, i introduced chicken liver (boiled) to xena's meal, i serve it diff on daily basis tho, and she likes it with passion, buh to my suprise, a fellow said chicken liver is not cool, though i am yet to research or verify this.
Please i need to know.

Note that i still give her boiled egg,
Restrain from cooking the chicken head and neck. It could be d cause of her reduced appetite. U can either serve it raw or Cook it then debone.

It is small unnoticeable things like dis that can cause reduction in appetite.

Note that i still give her boiled egg,
try to stop leaving her plate with food every time.
that also reduces appetite, some dogs when they notice that food is always available, they see eating as a luxury and not a necessity cheesy

take away her food every time she doesn't want to eat it and don't give her food again till she's hungry hours later, with time she'll learn to eat when she see food because she doesn't know when she'll see it again.
that's the method I use for my dog, he doesn't even see his feeding bowl except it's meal time, and once he walks away then I'm sure he's satisfied because he eats everything at once since he knows I'll take it away in a few minutes.
I just bring the food, drop it and take it away after 15 minutes(that's enough time for any dog to eat).

Re: My Female Boerboel .... Her Name Is "Xena" by MrrKay(m): 2:28pm On Oct 21, 2019
Ok bro. I'll adopt it.
But what if she didn't eat within that 15mins time.

MrrKay:

I heard from breeders that some breed of dogs, add height b4 body mass. Esp BB, CC, BM.
this is very true, those breeds in particular grow in that way.
even my dog didn't add much body mass till he was about 8 months.
the body mass started coming from that age and he increased over time, now he's over a year old and he's still growing.
large- giant sized dogs grow slower than smaller breeds.
your dog will probably not reach it's full size till it's about 3yrs old unlike smaller dogs that are fully grown at 1yr.

she'll learn to eat when she sees food like that.
my dog doesn't even spend the 15 mins to eat because he knows I'll take it away.
once it comes, he eats till he's done within like 6mins

not at all, I'm guessing genetics has something to do with his growth so feeding won't solve the problem but it'll help at least.
what are you feeding the guy now?

Now another dog lover is confirming what i said here about dogs body mass.

Don't give up on ur dog, keep on doing the needful, just that as a male BB, he ought to to be bigger than that, cos male dogs grow and develop better than female dogs.
As i said earlier don't give up. From now to his 1yr, he'll suprise you.

What is his name?
Re: My Female Boerboel .... Her Name Is "Xena" by MrrKay(m): 2:44pm On Oct 21, 2019
Ok Baba. Buh i dnt expect her to feed as heavy as Mr Roscoe. 1. Roscoe is a male. 2. Roscoe is a CO, who are naturally heavy feeders
Re: My Female Boerboel .... Her Name Is "Xena" by MrrKay(m): 2:48pm On Oct 21, 2019
Spanishmilf to add to what IamAnderson said, please can we get a more close pic of ur boy?
1. I noticed that his ear is not floppy enough
1a. May be from the camera or dog position.
1b. Was his ear docked?

Some dogs no matter what you feed them they will remain that way. This dog in picture doesn't look pure to me, the tin bones, head shape, size and all that aren't just adding up.

Feeding could do wonders though, hopefully

see tbh, all those things will just fill his belly but the nutritional value isn't that good.
when you're feeding a puppy (especially a mastiff or molloser) concentrate more on the protein content of the food.
all those things are mainly carbohydrates, protein is what will build him up well.
when he's an adult then you can slow down with the protein but as he's young give him all the meat, fish and eggs you can lay your hands on and you'll see the difference in his stature

Another challenge is this. Whenever i am walking Xena,
And a dog barks from a compound we're passing.
Xena always restrain her movement, even sometimes she might want to go back, as if she is scared.
After enquiries i was told, that it is always a normal thing, that at this stage she need socialization with other dogs, that if i don't socialize hes with other dogs, crossing her will be a challenge when she comes on heat.

Menh i am now asking, won't there be a fight? During the socializing thing?

Make una help me for this matter.
