You can not be igbo and yoruba at the same time.
The two doesn't go together.
Is this your opinion or is there a theory to support it?

It does go together. I wonder why you assume it doesn't. You should ask me how and why.

oga Ade send ur children go east go school.... leave propaganda.... Igbo language ain't dying as long as human race exists.... it didn't die during the civil war is it now that its going to die?

This attitude of yours is denying reality while the problem still exists and it won't solve the problem. It's not about being raised in the east. Some Igbos born and raised in the east cannot speak fluent Igbo. I grew up in the east and I speak from personal experience. I've met a middle-aged Igbo mother in Owerri who could not speak Igbo with my mother and they conversed in English instead. Of course, all her children spoke English as well and with the English-speaking generation of the 80s to late 90s now becoming adults and parents, you'd expect to see cases like this becoming more and more common.

Igbo language is a language that is best acquired as a child, it becomes harder to learn it or most other languages as an adult. Chinese language is a hard language as well but it is very much alive because nearly 95% or more of their children acquire it at infancy.

Between the 20s to 70s, most Igbos living outside Igboland grew up speaking Igbo natively (it is hard to find an Igbo from that time who doesn't speak Igbo). Since the fad for English exploded in the 80s, this became less and less popular and it tells us that the very root cause is the failure of parents to teach their kids the language at infancy. Hausa kids, regardless of where they were born in Nigeria, all speak Hausa fluently. Arguments like, 'I wasn't raised in the east' would never come up if parents did their job correctly.

well u are right at some point but dying is not possible.... if Israel could revive almost a dead language, so why do you think Igbo as a language is gonna die? not even in a million years is that going to happen.... there may be so many Igbo English speaking children but there will always be many Igbo speaking people.

Taaaa....

Go to the streets in the East

Igbo language is the only language

Even visitors complain

True...I expressed my surprise to somebody on my experience in Anambra some months ago, that I was surprised to see commuters and passengers using it that I almost became apprehensive of how to communicate since I needed to ask questions in English to move around.

That your father is yoruba and mother Igbo doesn't make you Igbo in anyway. Such claims are fallacy.

This is an example of colonialism in the modern world. Back in the day the British did the same and nearly took over the planet. Now, due to business opportunities, people are training themselves and their children to learn foreign languages and explore new grounds. I don’t know why I’m too lazy and sticking with the four I’m familiar with.

I had a friend, an igbo guy with south south mum that didn't grow up in igboland so don't know anything in igbo.
He did higher education in igboland and tried a little. Bought igbo dictionary and lived among the locals off campus so as to help him learn the language faster. He said igbo is the hardest language tp learn.
He started working in awka. He said that his office( federal),banks, name them, all use igbo to communicate.
If anybody found out he don't speak igbo, they will use their dialects to further humiliate him.

Within 2 yrs, he became a pro.
The language is going nowhere.
My husband don't know anything in igbo and he is learning. When we want to yab some oyibo around us, we use igbo. Even though he makes lots of mistakes, at least he is trying. A strong fan of phyno simply because he raps in igbo.
Remember igbo language is a subject in schools in igboland.
Bc igbo people adapt quickly to other tribes and their culture, u will think they don't cherish their language anymore. I listen to igbo songs of old. My kids ask me questions on about them. I try as much as I can cos that's the best way to introduce them to igbo. Some of them like the oriental brothers uses strong igbo language but I dey try sha.
Never in my life did I expect to use those songs as learning tools but they are working.

I called it so because of intent. If I learn their language it is to aid my communication skill when living in their country. If they learn the language it is to do business in my land and nothing else. Who gains more in both scenarios?

Well I hope you two correct the language issue with your children because if you don't, the cycle continues unabated.
