How Can I Reach EEDC And Get Them To Come To My Rescue? by Omar09(m): 10:26am On Feb 27, 2020
Currently I stay in Imo state, and in my neighborhood, we've had enough of the indigenes and their bullsh.it with how they are maltreating we the tenants via light. They are in much control of the light. They heaped heavy bills on us the tenants yet we still pay without complaints and I got to find out that they indigenes don't pay too tho that is not my problem. My problem is, we pay 2k (two thousand naira) per month (depending on the house and if you borehole), yet we may only use 2wks of light when calculated. Sometimes we stay for over a week without lights yet we pay electric bills. If you don't pay, they cut your wire and you will pay reconnection fee. Now they have imposed another bill on us up to 5k (five thousand naira) a month on us! How do I report this so that where I live everyone gets a metre?

You must be living in Irete, Mbieri or any of these nearby villages close to the municipal.

Those indigenes always over do. In Irete then, they have this rule, if you fight in the community, the youths and women will come to your house and pack your properties, that's if you refuse to pay immediately for fighting. But, when they indigenes fight, they will turn blind eyes.

Please, be mindful how you report them. Try and be discreet, for your safety.
Try and make friends with few reasonable ones, you'll have some leverages.

I want to report the community where I live for mismanagement of light and to make sure the meter gets to us. We are under EEDC. So I called you in because you are conversant with politics and I thought maybe you could point me in the right direction. Any tips?

EEDC promises 20-hour electricity supply in Imo

By Chinonso Alozie – Owerri

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, yesterday, said it has concluded plans to provide electricity supply up to 20 hours a day in Imo State.

The EEDC, head of communications, Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri.

EEDC, said it was made possible after the commission has completed two power projects to the tune of N200 million to up the power supply in major parts of the state, one of which was the Oguta 33KV double circuit line.

Ezeh narrated: “In line with her commitment towards improving the socio-economic state of the South East region, the Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC) recently completed two major projects in Imo State.

“These projects, which is estimated at over N200 million are: a dedicated 33KV line constructed for one of the company’s industrial customer, Alex Aluminium Company; and Oguta 33KV double circuit line. Both lines will radiate from Egbu Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Station

The news is true. It's just that the community where I live hoards the light from us. And I thought the EEDC could look into it and I'm sure my community are not remitting money to them.

At the Bolded. Trust me, there's an Indigene that works with EEDC and he/she is aware of the happenings.
You're also living in a foreign land and you need to be cautious of your actions too.
If i may ask, what's the population of the non indigenes like?
Re: How Can I Reach EEDC And Get Them To Come To My Rescue? by MANNABBQGRILLS: 11:30am On Feb 27, 2020
And here are some Frequently asked questions we came across for you ma'm......

1. I need a pre-paid meter, what do I do?

Visit your District office as shown on your bill and apply for a pre-paid meter, or fill an application form online on our website. The Pre-paid meters will be made available to you once the process is completed.

2. I have not had light for days. Who should I complain to and how can I locate the office?

Call the hotline phone number of the District shown in your bill. If not satisfied, follow up with a written complaint to the Customer Care Unit (CCU) of your District. To locate the Customer Care Office:

Identify the District office as shown on your bill.Call the telephone number of your District for details.

3. What is Fixed Charge and why is it part of the bill?

The fixed charge is a part of a customer’s monthly electricity charge. The fixed charge is intended to allow for the recovery of the costs associated with the fixed or permanent investments (metering & accessories, transformers & accessories and ICT infrastructure) for the efficient supply of power.

4. EEDC bills me on estimation and always gives me “crazy” bills even when there is no light, why?

Before July 2014, energy was randomly allocated to customers without meter thereby giving rise to “crazy” billing. Effective from August 2014, EEDC has implemented the Estimated Billing Methodology as stipulated by NERC. This method ensures that customers of a tariff class without meters are billed with the average consumption of all functional metered customers of the same tariff class, on the same transformer and same feeder. This method is fair, and eliminates “crazy billing” for the unmetered customers.

EEDC is currently planning for mass deployment of energy meters to each and every customer. Once that is done, customers will be billed on metered consumption only.

When there is no supply (light), there will be no consumption and when there is no consumption, there is no energy billed except for the outstanding debts.

@Omar09,
We hope all these help.
We wish you the very best.

Do not report the community as you won't make headway. They have no right to interfere with or manage power, and you do not have anybody's identity.

Rather report EEDC to NERC for empowering and utilizing thugs and unknown miscreants to interfere with your light, extort money from you, without providing meters.

In addition, if you have a lawyer among you, go and start a frivolous case against EEDC, demanding compensation for money extorted and damaged goods in freezers, plus spoilt electronics. You will get their attention to your area very fast.

The problem with power in Nigeria is the absence of spelt out contract between consumers and the discos, so most people do not realise the discos are private companies, and are bound by certain performance gurantees, such as your security.

It is community billing meaning that whatever your transformer consumed is divided among every house in the community. Am sorry to say that you cannot do anything about that because the people in charge of electricity in that community are making money from it. They can increase the amount for their own benefit so you don't have option and reporting them as well will not make any difference.
