(1) lt's either you are working hard because you are hungry. They call it suffering.

(2) Or you are working hard because you don't want to be hungry. They call you an entrepreneur, business man, or even a hard-worker.
They may do some humanitarian work, some community building work, or they may refuse to live extravagantly, but their primary interest is to maintain their status and dignity in the society.

(3) Or you are working hard because you don't want other people to be hungry. They call you a leader.
They do hard works that are intentionally geared towards building lives and creating successful living conditions.

In conclusion, work - hard-work - is inevitable. It's either you wait and suffer, or you take up the challenge and be a "hard-worker", or you take up the mantle and be a leader.

Three qualities will help you carve out for yourself a life of successful hard-work.

Listed according to their degree of importance:

i) Humility. "Before a crash a man’s heart is lofty, And before glory there is humility." (Proverbs 18:12).
"The result of humility and the fear of Jehovah Is riches and glory and life." (Proverbs 22:4)

ii) Diligence. Diligence is defined as a careful and persistent work or effort. "The lazy do not chase after the prey, But diligence is a man’s precious treasure." (Proverbs 12:27)
"Idle hands will cause poverty, But diligent hands bring riches." (Proverbs 10:4)
"The hand of the diligent ones will rule, But idle hands will be put to forced labor." (Proverbs 12:24)

iii) Patience. "Be patient then, brothers,... Look! The farmer keeps waiting for the precious fruit of the earth, exercising patience over it until the early rain and the late rain arrive. You too exercise patience; make your hearts firm" (James 5:7, 8 )
"Better is the end of a matter than its beginning. Better to be patient than to be haughty in spirit." (Ecclesiastes 7:8 )
"So after Abraham had shown patience, he obtained this promise." (Hebrews 6:15)

What will you choose? One of the most successful inventor and notable hard-worker of the past century Thomas Edison says: "Invention is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration". That's to say that your perspiration - your sweat - is a better gift to you than your inspiration. Even the Bible agrees saying: "There is benefit in every kind of hard work, But mere talk leads to want." (Proverbs 14:23)
