Hahahaha. Again, the history of the elders from which the first ogiso emerged is out there. Ashanti have said the golden stool didn't come from the sky yet outsiders still claim so.

King Bling Frederick and Ooni in their writings about Oduduwa still do not match. Olugbo even claims seniority to Ooni.
Your people here still claim chain from the hill, sky, Egypt, Israel. grin

Who do we believe among these Bini versions:

Ogiso Igodo from Egypt

or

Ogiso Igodo from Ife

or Ogiso Igodo from the sky to Benin City round about.

Even you yourself are embarrased to add your own version.

Mind you, while all these conflicting versions about your Ogiso are your own indigenous accounts, the accounts of Israel, Egypt, Mecca are not found originally in Yoruba traditions.

They are either classical Hausa views or modern blog writings. Nothing indigenous or scholarly.

Same can't be said of your Ogiso.

Yes, action is what they called anger. No time to bark, brag, raise dust and then be doing suwegbe or pick race when action time comes. grin

I remember one day one Asaba guy (a fellow Bendelite as we were then) saw okpor JuJu belonging to a Yoruba boy inside his trainers in the morning. It was after a house party and everyone slept off later.

When the Asaba guy voiced his displeasure over how the okpor got into his shoe. The Yoruba boys there surrounded the Asaba guy to hush him up and intimidate him. Oh boy, we Bendel guys got them scampering for safety. 4 of us against 10 or eleven of them. grin

Chai, I laugh tire that day. I used to consider those guys "brothers" until I saw their tribalism at work. Carrying tribalism all the way to diaspora. Carrying JuJu tied with red cloth, threads and pins to a house party. Smh.

They were later saying these Anini people nor dey joke o. grin

If I sama you e-slap with your moronic lying tongue!

No be only older than Ife. Na older than Egypt you for talk.

Where is the archaeological dating result?

You think every sane person buys into your nonsensical king list of Ogiso and pre-Ogiso jokes??

Bring archaeological results like that of Paul Ozanne or Robin Horton that have variously adduced archaeological evidence dating many settlements in the Ife bowl to at least 500BC.

Not your feel-good imaginations with which you Binis compensate desperately for your inferiority complex.

Nonsense and Oba Ovoranmwen.

Perfect!

In fact, not only does archaeological evidence show Ife to be ancient, those results particularly mentioned that by circa500BC MANY SETTLEMENTS have already flowered in the Ife bowl.

Your problem is you copy and paste anything you see. Like I mentioned elsewhere before, I grew up in a house with a rich library. Books and journal articles were written in my presence. For you anything written is impressive.

Not me who saw history being written and can discern.

You will probably learn that with time. Experience is the best teacher.

Well, Muslim scholars wrote your history and gave you Yoruba/Yoruba name. My part of SW is Ado-Akure.

Not Islamic baptismal name. To tell them Alakubar to correct your history. grin

Carbon dating will not be enough. A linguist educated where? Ife, Ibadan, Lagos or where?

I read up to 5 books to get a balance view of Napoleon Bonaparte. All in original languages. It took the American and Swiss authors to give the most balanced narrative. The British and French authors were either writing about a hero or a villain.

I'm not sure what kind of books and articles they wrote in the house you grew up.

But I'm sure it must be some fvcked up books going by how you lie through your teeth everywhere on Nairaland.

Binis be amazing me. They lie through their tooth, but get rattled and slip into tantrum when they get busted.

What were you all thinking? To lie freely and not get exposed??

C'mon spare me those nonsense!

Moreover, you fail the second time to mention which version of your ancestor you subscribe to.

Is it Ogiso Igodo from Ife, or Ogiso Igodo from Egypt, or Ogiso Igodo from the sky without parachute?? Which one?? grin

You can freely add other views if you think I didn't mention them all.

Language is the best source of history FYI.
You are talking about Napoleon and original languages, can you tell me the first language spoken on Earth? I may tell you about Nimrod and how languages began and spread .

Take it or leave it, Benin kingdom is later than Ife or Oyo kingdom, the evidences are plethora.

Sicko

Omo n'oba nedo ukwakpolopolo title

Eware11 = name

Calling just oba as the title is incorrect oba is just an abbreviations of the full name

The question should be why did the yorubas adopt the word oba to represent kingship in yoruba land was the power of power so strong among yoruba territories just like we nigerians adopted king as an English title for our king.....

You guys simply adopted the title oba into your lexicon in the early 30s

Oba in Yoruba translates to "he who presides"

omo oba means the Scion of he who presides.

shut up and stop lying oba is yoruba word. The title otunba a very prominent title in all yoruba land means king right hand man. So tell me how yoruba copy Benin when it’s clear as day it’s the other way around. Every market in Yoruba land there is oja oba. Even the Europeans wrote about it. The truth is Benin adopted the word when oranmiyab from came to rule ur people. Cuz the word oba has no meaning regarding leadership in Benin language while it does in Yoruba.

apart from oba. There is yoruba title like otunba. Even the people that get killed with the king in the Olden days of oyo are called abobaku. The only word Benin has regarding the oba is their omo noba nedo the shining one.

thank u. you are bringing out the linguist in me gradually.

Oba is the only word in Yoruba that means he who presides.

Ooni is a title for a king, an Oba, it doesn't mean he who presides, it is a title for one who presides.
same as Kabiyesi which means, the unquestionable one.
Deji is another one, which is short for Owafadeji, the one whom Owa gave a crown etc.

Owa means the seeker or he who came.
I particularly I am Omo Owa by pedigree and am not even a prince.
Owa is the title for the Oba in Ilesha.

you are mixing history up.

Ilorin never had an Oba. it's simply an Oyo military Outpost Headed by the generalissimo Aare Afonja.

Alaafin was the supreme king.

the Fulanis took over the kingdom after Aares mutiny.

Emir is a funani titile.

Ilorin never had obas of its own.
