But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased. Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not: They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat. They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them. O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great. The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children. Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth. The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's: but the earth hath he given to the children of men. The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence. But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD. (Psm 115)

Pastors are worried that social distancing will reduce the capacity of the church and thereby decrease offerings. I'm not even sure if all these attempts at social distancing is effective considering that when you sneeze droplet aerosols can travel as fast as 100,000 miles per second. So how exactly does a 6ft distance prevent the spread? The one that makes me laugh the most is the proposition that airplanes should fly with the middle seat empty; how does it prevent the spread of aerosols in and closed compartment?

100,000miles a second? shocked

Are the droplets faster than sound or what?

This is pure travesty. Christianity is of faith and such guidelines are against the tenants of our Christian faith.

I was brought up in a godly home where my parents thought us the applications of Faith. If we believe Christ is above sickness, why then are we distancing right in his church.

Why did churches close because of Coronavirus in the first place, government has started relaxing things, the crooks have started coming out of hiding and wanting to act like they have some unfounded powers to do the unthinkable

Where were the pastors when Covid 19 pursue people enter house

How many things are even biblical about today's churches?

No mind them, they be driving the most exotic cars and buying private jets while their very church members wallow in poverty and they call their case God's blessings

Today's churches are far from biblical ways

Maybe we need to take a less hard-line stance on this realising that we all are saved by grace thru faith and that the scripture does mention that we have been given different measures of grace and faith (Rom 12:3, 2 Cor 10:14-15, Eph 4:7).

Scripture refers to it as "... The measure..." almost all through meaning that potentially it should avail every single one of us to achieving 100% but with the parable of the sower and its other similar ones, did everyone bear fruits in the 100 percentile range? No!!

Funny enough, with that parable the seeds were all the same, as with this faith we're talking about, but on different soils as with different hearts, souls, minds and experiences, the outputs will differ also.

Salvation grace, as in redemptive grace/faith in Christ, doesn't always translate to faith for miraculous healing or supernatural health for every single believer on earth, as a rule. You can't force it and faking it's too risky too.

Let's consider an hypothetical real life example here.
How do you get your 14yr old kid bro to walk by faith for his divine immunity from deadly Covid19 for example, on a Sunday morning when he's still reeling from guilt, self-doubt and uneasiness from having just woken up from a wet dream? OR a family who've just argued bitterly, all the way to Church to Sunday service and everyone's seating in service glum, pissed and distractedly re-digesting the morning's unfortunate events rather than even concentrating on the worship/word of faith?

Anyway, I just think wear we call believer's spiritual lives are often in more varying states of flux than we care to imagine. Another reason why folks intercede less for their spiritual leaders and one another, we all assume, /sigh/!

Having peeps taking precautions might not be so bad after all. San Francisco peeps got worst hit by the Spanish Flu so bad, Christians inclusive, until Govt and everyone started obeying basic prevention and containment measures for it.

True Church worship is less about the aesthetics, the externalities and the performative shows; it's connecting to the life of God with unity of heart and truth in company of others.

Stay Beautiful. wink

I don't agree with the clergy.

I think social distancing in churches is nothing more than rambosious misendeavours of injudicious authorities.

The only reason they are considering opening places of worship is so that they will collect all the money you’ve managed to make during this most painful period... They haven’t said anything about improving the Educational system and the Economy of the country na church Dey wan open.... una think say foreign countries wey Dey open football leagues no get sense... even without fans for pitch you know how much d economy go generate from live streaming and all? When we should be making research on how to combat the impending recession they are opening Churches to you indirectly cage our minds again knowing fully well that clerics will always encourage fortitude and hope. Your write up drew my attention. To me I think the whites deceive us with all manners of conspiracy theories. 100,000 miles is just same thing as 160,000km. From Lagos to Australia is 13,000+ kilometers. So where is this conspiracy theory of yours coming from? Even if you got it from somewhere legit I think we Nigerian youth should also start questioning some researches. And you said per second. We’re learning though. Nice one

Even the Bible support it, when Moses sister was afflicted, she was asked to stay far from the congregation.

Churches have no business opening at all until the pandemic has passed. Church does not have to gather in one place to be effective. The purpose of the church isn’t tithe and offerings either.

I'm not sure I understand. I don't think anybody is testing faith.

Consider: putting somebody underwater for over 1 minute will kill them; giving communion bread that has fungus on it will make people sick; so will tiny microscopic viruses floating in air droplets from infected people.

We don't put people underwater for too long in the name of baptism; we try to make what we eat in Church safe; and we try to limit the spread of the virus by social distancing, masks, and other guidelines.

God has given humans the ability to seek wisdom, and to apply it. I reckon He would be disappointed that some people are choosing to abandon wisdom and bring harm to themselves and others.

People: "God please protect me from sickness"...
God: "why then do you insist on getting infected? I have revealed to you what causes this sickness, how to avoid it, and in time how to cure it"

All these pastors complaining are only thinking about the impacts on tithing when congregation is reduced. They are not bothered about their welfare. Selfishness is all I can read here

why then did the churches not resist lockdown the world over ? If lockdown was observed by the church, why not a gradual but continuing precautionary steps towards a total release? Let's not continue making mockery of the body of Christ. That's why these atheists seem to be gaining upper hands in their useless heretic statements against the church. God is not an author of confusion.
