Meet one of your family members or anyone close to your parents and tell the person what happened. The person will know how to break the news to your parents. Not being a medical doctor is not the end of the world. If you're really desperate to be called a doctor, go and learn how to repair wristwatches so that your customers can always call you a doctor(doctor of wristwatches). All na the same

@dear OP, Sagna112

I’m writing to you as someone who had passed through this kind of experience before. Mine was worse than yours. I will share the experience with you

Inform your parents on what is happening, they can’t beat or rebuke you

I was admitted to study pharmacy in 2006 at the great citadel, Obafemi Awolowo University. After my first session, I had 4 carryovers. Not as if I wasn’t serious or very dull, things just went in the way I didn’t understand.
I summoned courage and repeated the first year, taking only the 4 courses. I passed all and proceeded to 200level.
I repeated 200level and had to take all the courses again in my fourth year at the university. After the fourth year, I passed the courses though with resit in two courses. I promoted to 300level for the fifth year.
I repeated 300level and had to take all the courses in 300level in my 6th year at the university.

Finally, the worse came after my 6th year in OAU pharmacy school, it was a withdraw from the faculty of pharmacy to other faculty.
I wept and felt so bad as if that was the end of my life. Every thought in me had elements of suicide in it. But my parents were so aware, I called my mum who was at work immediately my course mate notified me of my fate. Dad had known earlier that day before me through one of our lecturers.

My parents stood by me and made sure I was happy and supported me financially, physically and spiritually until I was able to change my department to Geography in the faculty of Social Sciences.

I’m a Geography department graduate now and on a verge of being a registered Surveyor and I feel more happy and fulfilled than being a pharmacist

Being withdrawn from the medical school is not the end of life. There are billions of opportunities in other fields.

Please notify your parents now. They will know later, but they will feel more disappointed then than now.
OP PLEASE, WORK WITH THIS. PLEASE, TELL YOUR PARENTS. THIS IS ONE OF THE BURDENS OF PARENTHOOD. WE ARE NOT EXPECTING YOU TO BE PERFECT.

Don't tell your parent anything. Or you want to kill them too? Pretend as though you are still in school, collect money for books, get your school fee by yourself; use the money to drink and have all the fun you can, take drugs, just have fun. Never make the mistake of writing another Jamb or reapplying. Who studies biological science? You are far beyond that. In the next three years, go to wherever in Lagos and get a university MBBS certificate. Travel to the north, you will get a job. Pay your tithe. You will be forgiven for those that die in your care. It is their time_ right? The best Sir--+ and don't forget to hide or delete the diary where you said you are studying engineering. May you get the attention that you seek.
Thank you for bursting this clout chasing poster. He has deleted that diary he posted on May 2020 Aspiring to study Medicine.

I am married with children and I can tell you that I failed out of medical school.. Was it devastating? Yes! Mime was worse cos my Father was a professor of medicine in that school. My sister was also a Doctor in that school... Life made no sense... I contemplated suicide but as God would have it , I told my Father and he was unhappy but it is what it is... I transfered to Biochemistry, finished and got a job in an insurance firm.. I became the best... Don't kill yourself

You're just an attention seeker. Which institution were you admitted to? If you're in 100L and fail a course, you will be on probation and not to withdraw. You only withdraw when you fail MB exam in your third year.

I am the only child of my parents, they have spent so much on me just to make sure I become a doctor, dad had to sell one of his plots of land to pay for my registration fees, purchase a brand new laptop, a phone and clothes for me and all my needs, Mum who has no job since she was sacked by the state government will always try to send the little that will pass through her, when I think of the way she announced to her friends when I gained admission to study Medicine it brings tears from my eyes.

It will be an injustice on me to be blamed or for me to blame myself, I know the effort I have also made, I have always taken my studies serious, I never missed any lecture, I neither miss assignments nor tests, I sit at the front of the class, I don't keep bad gangs, I have never attended a party, sometimes I do RTDB (Read Till Day Break), what is then my offense? why me?

At the end of my 100 level Second semester my CGP was reading 4.2 without a single carryover, I was very happy because I thought I had scaled through the danger zone.

The unexpected occurred when I logged into the school portal at the end of my Second Semester Examination to check my result, I cleared all the courses with A's and B's but a course was reading Carryover, I nearly fainted when I saw the result, it was a biology course I offered in second semester to me the course was the simplest of all. I did not inform my parents because I din not want to dishearten them.

The school resumed, so I went to my HOD and complained, she took me to the Exam office who searched thoroughly for my script and from what I saw it was obvious I failed, I scored 32% and was asked to change department, my HOD advised that I go to Biological Sciences, my eyes were filled with tears.

How do I tell my parents this, it only mean I have brought shame to them. I have remained in school since then crying from one angle to another I don't know whether to go home to my parents to inform them of the truth or keep telling them lies.

I need your sincere advice.
Kindly show your parents your results ,if you truly love and appreciate them like you stated tell them now, they won't kill you, if you keep it a secret and change department, it will break their heart when the find out in the future and it will bring great trauma to them , honestly to me with a cgpa of 4.5 you are not dull, I am sure your parents will understand eventually when you explain to them.

Higher institution sef, you failed a biology course and you re told to change department to biological department...

Anyway just tell your parent it doesn't mean you can't still study medicine.

I know someone that studied anatomy then go back to study medicine and surgery. It all depends , you can switch department and still try to retry for another admission. But most importantly tell your parents, atleast you told the world your story.

This is a very difficult time young man, I feel your pain. But let me tell you this, the greatest mistake you will make is not letting your parents know about this development, I understand it may be difficult. If all you said were real, I guess no one will blame you for whatsoever, to me, you tried your best, just that things didn't go your way.

Any mistake you make now can hunt you for the rest of your life, you have to pick yourself up and be rearranged, dust off the shaming shoes and tighten the laces, you have a bright future. Believe me, you have to open the cards before your parents asap, you may be scolded or even be bitten, you may cry over this, but your heart will be lightened at the end having bridged all gaps that may leave you to hollow path of destruction.

My best regards.

Guess what, I got my first job while rounding up my MSc. after about two years, I got a better one. After about 3 years I got the best job ever! Funny enough I earn more than most of doctors of today (except those that have upgraded themselves). NB

NB-Most of the doctors of this era have to work in 2 or 3 private hospitals monthly to earn well. Some are still struggling to get jobs while some are planning to go to Canada.

..

So which profession or career path are you right now?

What do you also mean by Doctors who have upgraded themselves? I am just curious.

Geography is a cognate course to Surveying.
With Geography and some courses, you can go for a 5semesters program to become a pupil Surveyor in the school
Oh! That's actually cool. So you still have to go through the surveying school right?

I understand not just by your words but how you feel about your parents. Apparently, they are not loaded enough to turn you into a professional student if they had to sell a land.

If you are that desperate, take the advice of taking JAM all over. If you were advised to switch to biological sciences, please do.

There are many ways to medicine. You can be a microbiologist, virologist, bacteriologist etc.

Prestige of medicine begins to wane as you become older and overwhelmed by patients, good and bad, fine and ugly. What many people so not know is how many hours and clinics you have to take on to make that much money.

You have to be convinced to explain and convince your parents that there are more fulfilling field as medicine. I have some friends that hardly practice clinical medicine as they got older. It's a dirty skilful job.

How many times have you heard Nigerians brag about Russian, Cuban or Chinese doctors? Even in Scandinavian countries, they do not make that much money.

So tell your parents you are going for bigger and better field.

You sounds like an adolescent though. My candid advice for u is, tell your parents. Tell them that your school disagree with your course and you've been adviced to change ur course. When they ask for explanation, then you spill it out. Be careful how you say it so you don't kill somebody. Be strong and be conscious of nervous breakdown.
If tell my own story......it's awfully crazy, but I'm good now
