Tell them now, their could be a solution. Also tell your parents to stop announcing your progress or failure to anybody. You can sit for another jamb while in the other departments if you believe in it.

Don't be in a haste to make decisions, I think there is a room for repeatation of level or course.

Do some findings and ask your HOD on what next to do. They can't just throw you out after just failing one course.

Do a thorough findings first, then you can tell your parents.

Sorry my brother....Is not an end to life.
You failed a course doesn't mean you are a failure is just an opportunity to try again and get better.

Switch to Medical Lab Science/Anatomy/Physiotherapy/Physiology...Any course in the College of Medicine. Study till the end of year2 or year3 and target hitting a high C.G.P.A of 4.0. Then approach them for Transfer back to medicine and start from year2 again.

2nd Option is study any of those courses I mentioned earlier to final year...graduate and enter direct entry into that same school; start from year2 or year3 and sit for MBBS Exam. Make sure you pally with your lecturers in College of Medicine... That's with the Department HOD's (current and receiving Dept's) it would make ur transfer easy and acceptance for direct entry easy.

Don't be distressed and depressed my guy...Shits happen!
Some persons are meant to go through life the rough path...what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. You are coming out stronger, if you choose not to be discouraged or depressed.

I would always be out to help you bro...you could always hook me up.

My name is Uche a 100Level supposed medicine and surgery student of a Nigerian University, I used to be very brilliant and that was what instigated me to apply for Medicine and Surgery after acquiring an aggregate score of 270 in both JAMB and POST-UTME Examinations, I was then admitted a years ago into a university.

I am the only child of my parents, they have spent so much on me just to make sure I become a doctor, dad had to sell one of his plots of land to pay for my registration fees, purchase a brand new laptop, a phone and clothes for me and all my needs, Mum who has no job since she was sacked by the state government will always try to send the little that will pass through her, when I think of the way she announced to her friends when I gained admission to study Medicine it brings tears from my eyes.

It will be an injustice on me to be blamed or for me to blame myself, I know the effort I have also made, I have always taken my studies serious, I never missed any lecture, I neither miss assignments nor tests, I sit at the front of the class, I don't keep bad gangs, I have never attended a party, sometimes I do RTDB (Read Till Day Break), what is then my offense? why me?

At the end of my 100 level Second semester my CGP was reading 4.2 without a single carryover, I was very happy because I thought I had scaled through the danger zone.

The unexpected occurred when I logged into the school portal at the end of my Second Semester Examination to check my result, I cleared all the courses with A's and B's but a course was reading Carryover, I nearly fainted when I saw the result, it was a biology course I offered in second semester to me the course was the simplest of all. I did not inform my parents because I din not want to dishearten them.

The school resumed, so I went to my HOD and complained, she took me to the Exam office who searched thoroughly for my script and from what I saw it was obvious I failed, I scored 32% and was asked to change department, my HOD advised that I go to Biological Sciences, my eyes were filled with tears.

How do I tell my parents this, it only mean I have brought shame to them. I have remained in school since then crying from one angle to another I don't know whether to go home to my parents to inform them of the truth or keep telling them lies.

I need your sincere advice.

I empathise with you. If this is true, come up with an alternative plan and confide in your parents. For instance, you can take Jamb exam again and apply to another institution if you want to study medicine at all cost. Alternatively, you can change to another course within your current institution...Biochemistry, Microbiology etc. Whatever you plan to do, let your parents know. Pray that God makes it easy for you all. They may hurt for a while but it's better to allow them to deal with it and move on.

I’m writing to you as someone who had passed through this kind of experience before. Mine was worse than yours. I will share the experience with you

Inform your parents on what is happening, they can’t beat or rebuke you

I was admitted to study pharmacy in 2006 at the great citadel, Obafemi Awolowo University. After my first session, I had 4 carryovers. Not as if I wasn’t serious or very dull, things just went in the way I didn’t understand.
I summoned courage and repeated the first year, taking only the 4 courses. I passed all and proceeded to 200level.
I repeated 200level and had to take all the courses again in my fourth year at the university. After the fourth year, I passed the courses though with resit in two courses. I promoted to 300level for the fifth year.
I repeated 300level and had to take all the courses in 300level in my 6th year at the university.

Finally, the worse came after my 6th year in OAU pharmacy school, it was a withdraw from the faculty of pharmacy to other faculty.
I wept and felt so bad as if that was the end of my life. Every thought in me had elements of suicide in it. But my parents were so aware, I called my mum who was at work immediately my course mate notified me of my fate. Dad had known earlier that day before me through one of our lecturers.

My parents stood by me and made sure I was happy and supported me financially, physically and spiritually until I was able to change my department to Geography in the faculty of Social Sciences.

I’m a Geography department graduate now and on a verge of being a registered Surveyor and I feel more happy and fulfilled than being a pharmacist

Being withdrawn from the medical school is not the end of life. There are billions of opportunities in other fields.

Please notify your parents now. They will know later, but they will feel more disappointed then than now.

Good advice, doctors are dying like rat due to COVID-19 pandemic, study microbiology and find a cure for all these yeye viruses.

I had a lot of friends that did a first degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology or Physiology and then joined the send year of a medical degree.

Many medical students tend to complete a master degree in Physiology after the completion of their MBBS

se you, there are core courses you dare not bang as a medical student and in year one, bio is one of them. In my school, if you fail one of such, you will not be asked to withdraw immediately but you won't move to the next level. if you repeat a level three times you're kicked out

Your greatest mistake you might have made was not telling your parents, let them know about it, you said u are brilliant, good, write another utme and move to the other department you are advised to go to, I had so many friends like that who were broken hearted by zoo 101, Oau medical and pharmacy students or graduates can relate, some of them wrote another utme and still made it, some went to department of economics, psychology etc and they are still doing well now.. pls tell your parents and don’t let medicine nonsense wave u down.. common boy, you will make it through

my father Is an hypertensive patient I'm scared
I am sorry for your tragedy this seem very trying moment of your time, To be sincere hiding it to them its not an option but considering all that you have said it is really a source of concern revealing this sad incident to them, to me it seems too early to inform them about your tragedy you are just starting and to everyone that will hear about it will think its your fault.
But sincerely I can't blame any students for a failure that's beyond his control,I can relate with your tragedy and I felt how bad amd intense it seems the trauma and everything, depression and all sort of things you are passing through.
My simple advice those goes like this Firstly you need to be strong and failure sometimes come as a disappointment to us but our creator has a special reason behind it that we can only realize later in life.

Dreamers always don't give up,if you hear the stories of must medical students nowadays you will be amazed of the grudges they pass through failure is part of the system you are not just lucky to scale through your level 1.
Haven't said that my advice is it's not too late to start again obtain your jamb accept any department they gave you read for your jamb and also continue with the given program, try as much as possible to make your score and also connection since you are already in the system, reapply for that course If you are favoured start afresh you see you will go all through this without them knowing if the thing favoured you you can explain to them that you have to repeat some years that's why you are delayed,As most medical students know that resitting or even repeating is normal to some extent.
If it still didn't favour you which might not be my wish after you finish your level 2 by that time you can inform them that you have been withdrawn I sm sure they will believe you have gone a little bit far and the pain to them will be less.
Pls pardon my typo errors and the long epistle
