What is killing us in this country is greed and selfishness. Being it Hausa/Fulani, Igbo or Yoruba. The only president that has been fair in government is Obasanjo. To be sincere, we need to restructure if this country will continue it's existence. Sectionalism is the bane of our government and except something urgent is done, this issue will not stop. What GEJ and Buhari did is out of point. U can't continue to appoint people from one region for sensitive and juicy positions and expect others to keep quiet. I did not blame Tinubu for supporting coalition that terminated GEJ government but I thought Buhari supposed to have learnt one thing or the other from such mistake but reverse is the case. Nobody should laugh at anyone yet, this is game of politics and anything can still happen.
Just tell us you supported Buhari before and end up disappointed instead this epistle you are writing, save us the stress, please.

The desolved NWC has loyalists of Elrufai, Tinubu, Ameachi and others

The New Caretaker Committee has Loyalists of Tinubu (his cousin) , Loyalist of Oshiomhole and Loyalist of Elrufai

The National Caretaker Committee would plan another Congress election in 6 months and Jagaban boys are on field , he still has Senators, Governors, House of Reps members , House Speaker, Senate President, Minister and Vice President very loyal to him

So what exactly did Tinubu loose?

The ways many people discuss and analyze political issues is quite funny.

Why is it that the single topic for discussion about the 2023 election is Tinubu?

Why don't we talk about the candidate that can diversify the economy, reduce unemployment, tackle the security situation or things like electoral reform , Nigerian refineries and the Biafran agitations?
Because Tinubu brought it on himself.

It's like some Nigerians just keep getting dumber by the day. What is all this fuss about Tinubu been disposed by Buhari? Or been betrayed? The party is in crisis and going down, the president was asked to intervene which he did, and some characters will not let people hear word again. If the president had decided not to intervene, the same characters will call him all sorts of names for not taking any action while the party that brought him to power is sinking. Everybody can tell with almost a 100% certainty that Atiku will probably still be the pdp's presidential flag bearer come next elections, but is he involved in the day to day running of PDP? So Tinubu must be seen shouting and giving orders before it can be believed that he is in charge of APC? A nwc of a party that has members from all over the country was dissolved and all of a sudden it is seen as a power play to betray someone?

Twitter: @farooqkperogi

The political coalition between Muhammadu Buhari’s CPC and Bola Tinubu’s ACN has all but collapsed. There was nothing even remotely surprising about it. In previous columns, media interviews, and social media updates, I predicted that this would happen.

For example, in my June 23, 2018 column titled “Buhari’sJune 12 Pandering and Naivety of Yoruba Elite,” I wrote:

“Buhari may well get a second term with the help of votes from the Southwest. But one thing is as certain as tomorrow’s date: he will spectacularly fall out with the Yoruba elite whose support he’s bending over backwards to court now. He’d no longer have a need for them after 2019 and might even remember that they betrayed him in 2011.

“These same people would then turn against not just Buhari but the entire North. If we’re alive till then, we’d remind them that they are complicit in their own fate. An Italian proverb says, “When a man deceives me once, it is his fault; when twice, it is mine.”

In a January 26, 2019 column titled “Bola Tinubu’s Costly 2023 Political Gamble,” I wrote the following, among other things that have come to pass:

“Tinubu is going into another alliance with Buhari in hopes that Buhari and his supporters will reward him with a presidential ticket in 2023. That’s a costly miscalculation for a whole host of reasons.

“I am familiar enough with members of Buhari’s inner circle to know that they deeply despise Tinubu. They snigger at his presidential ambition and are amused by his expectation that they would support him. Tinubu himself knows this. That’s why I am shocked that he appears irresistibly and dangerously drawn to people who will throw him like he is hot after the February election. Maybe he is gripped by the sort of deathly attraction that causes a moth to embrace a flame.

“During a TV appearance on Television Continental on February 20, 2018, Tinubu’s wife, Remi, said Tinubu was “trashed” by Buhari’s northern political machine after the 2015 election.

People who “trashed” you after an electoral triumph to which you’re central will certainly go the whole hog and incinerate or bury you in the aftermath of another victory that will ensure that they will no longer need you.

“Apart from the certain betrayal that will surely come from the Buhari camp in the event that Tinubu helps them to win or rig the 2019 election, a Tinubu presidential candidacy will be beset by a lot of problems.

Given the heightened sensitivity of religion in Nigeria now, which is made even more so by Buhari’s unexampled, in-your-face bigotry, Tinubu would be required to have a northern Christian as a running mate to earn the support of the south and the Christian north. That would, however, automatically alienate Buhari’s northern Muslim supporters. So his ambition is dead before it’s even born.

“Most importantly, though, as Tinubu himself knows only too well, a vote for APC in the coming presidential election won't be a vote for Buhari; it would be a vote for an evil, greedy, corrupt, provincial, and reactionary cabal and their minions who are currently perpetrating a stratospheric theft of the nation's resources in ways that would make an angel of Abacha. President Buhari is an insentient human vegetable who is barely aware of his own existence.”

In a September 21, 2019 column, titled “Why Bola Tinubu Can Never Be Nigeria’s President,” I pointed out that “Before the 2019 election, a friend of mine who is close to Abba Kyari confided in me that after the election they would ‘deal with Tinubu and his people.’ He bragged that by the time they are done with him and his underlings, he would be so damaged that he won’t even be an option for the 2023 presidency. It’s already starting.”

In a December 22, 2019 social media status update titled “Tinubu’s Dangerous Dance with the Cabal,” I wrote:

“The cabal is toying with Bola Tinubu like a yo-yo—and he is naively, if gingerly, playing along— in readiness for his eventual political incineration by or before 2023. And the cabal is being ruthlessly Machiavellian about it.

“Tinubu has been given a fake promissory note that he’ll be APC’s presidential torchbearer in 2023. On the strength of this worthless promissory note, they’ve sought his permission to destroy some of his most trusted foot soldiers.

“With his consent, they’ve consigned Yemi Osinbajo to symbolic Aso Rock prison. Tinubu endorsed Tunde Fowler’s replacement at the FIRS and is in on his impending trial for corruption. He also stamped his imprimatur to Muiz Banire’s unceremonious ouster from AMCON. He’s giddily approving everything the cabal tells him it wants to do to his “constituents” and foot soldiers.

“He has now fallen out of favor with almost all Southwest governors except his dutiful stooge in Lagos and his nephew in Osun. Of course, he is a bête noire to Afenifere. At this rate, Tinubu would divorce his wife and disown his children if the cabal tells him to do so—just because he’s told that he’d be president.

“This is a strategic, Machiavellian demobilization of his base, but one in which he is a willing participant, using the illusory promise of APC presidential nomination. When he is eventually denied the APC presidential slot, he would have no one of political consequence in his natal region to fall back to for counterattack other than his battering rams in the Lagos media.

“Before his eventual political annihilation, he would be thoroughly unpopular in the Southwest. His fate would elicit no mass sympathy from the region when the cabal finally bares its fangs publicly and devours him.”

And in a December 8, 2019 interview with The Interviewmagazine’s Azubuike Ishiekwene, I said the following in response to the question, “If you were to make a prediction about the political landscape in 2020, what would it be?”

“I have no—nor do I believe anyone has—oracular powers, but I think 2020 would witness the incipience of the alignment of political forces preparatory to the 2023 election.

“The Buhari/Tinubu alliance would crack more noticeably. The people who prop Buhari in power don’t want Tinubu—or anyone outside their primordial constituency—to succeed them. That’s my prediction.”

What hasn’t started to happen yet is the fight I predicted between paid Buhari & Tinubu loyalists on social media. In an October 5, 2018 social media post titled “Contest of Idiocy Between Buharists and Tinubuists,” I said, among other things:

“It’s no surprise that Buharists and Tinubuists are in a coalition of buffoonery to reelect a lifeless Buhari in 2019. When pigheaded Buhari fanaticism collides with sheepish Tinubu loyalty, it sparks the sort of combustible admixture of idiocy we’re seeing today, which disposes otherwise normal people to lend unthinking support to transparently incompetent people for political office. Thankfully, the rank of the Tinubuists is dwindling dramatically.

“Buharists and Tinubuists certainly share the same slavish, uncritical, freakish mentality, but wait to see what will happen in 2023 (if Buhari wins a second term) when Buhari disappoints Tinubu by not "handing over" power to him--as he expects Buhari would. You'd be entertained by the fight that would break out between the two idiotic camps that are friends today. Save this somewhere.”

So Tinubu had lots of warning that the fate that has befallen him now was a foregone conclusion. He ignored it and chose instead to legitimize the worst civilian regime in Nigeria’s history. He deserves his fate.

Well, the next predictable phase in the unfolding drama is for Tinubu to turn the Lagos news media against the Buhari regime— and for his mindless loyalists to clash with Buharists in a contest of idiocy. That would be an entertaining spectacle to watch.

Farooq Kperogi articles is really factual, informative and well thought out.

The point I want to make here is that Tinubu popularity in the south west is very low and Buhari knows that.

HOW MANY YORUBAS REALLY WANT TINUBU TO BE PRESIDENT?

The answer is it is only a very few yorubas especially Lagosians.

Apart from Lagos state or Ogun state, the other states in the south west do not think Tinubu should get the Presidency that comes to the south west.

Majority of the yorubas would prefer Prof Yemi Osinbanjo, Ex-Finance Minister Olu Falae etc but not Tinubu.

It can be concluded that TINUBU IS NOT SO POPULAR among his people in the south west and that is even working against TINUBU.

Does TINUBU think Buhari will just dump the presidency at him without working to prove himself if Buhari had the mindset to consider him?

THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS THAT ARE WORKING AGAINST TINUBU and one of the major thing is that his own people in the south west do not like him or want him even though they still desire the presidency.

OBASANJO also had that problem like Tinubu except that the military forced Obasanjo on Nigeria as they were handing over to civilian due to the move made by ex-military head of state, General Babangida.

The military that conducted the election rigged the election in Obasanjo 's favour.

Obasanjo would not have become President as the south west do not want him as he was part of people that worked against Chief Moshood Abiola.

The military government of Abdulsalami imposed Obasanjo who was in prison on Nigerians as at that time.

TINUBU IS ALSO NOT POPULAR IN OTHER PARTS OF NIGERIA SUCH AS THE SOUTH SOUTH, SOUTH EAST, MIDDLE BELT

Honestly speaking, there must be something about the man. Hate him or love him, there is something about him. Some ppu hate him, not because in the other regions there are no corrupt politicians but it's funny how they leave the fire on their roof and goes about quenching their neibo owns.

He is human and I don't expect perfection from him, but I respect him so much a man who has been in politics for over 20 yrs and still relevant hmm. With the recent stuff in Apc, I noticed many change the narration all bcus it's Tinubu, for God sake where do we throw our integrity, how can a deputy sec. become a party chairman?

Well,,I noticed many hate him just bcus of his person. People complain he has hold Lagos to ransom and nothing to show for it, but I challenge any body to name any state that is better in governance since 1999 till date than Lagos, most of Lagos blue print are copy by other states, In Enugu they av Gburugburu traffic police, in Kano they av Karota all this from Latsma model.

Well, I never say he is a saint but I think there something about him many wish they av his type in their region.

Hate him or love, he is just human.

I have only ever voted twice and both times I didn't vote for the APC. But if this man comes out to contest in 2023, he will definitely have my vote.

He might play the fool but he's well aware of the power he wields and he can be ruthless when it comes to protecting his interests. I admire such traits in a man.

All this term paper?

As much as I don't really like Tinubu or any of the politicians, I think Farooq is oversimplifying things.

Tinubu himself may have realized that his candidature for presidency may not be popular.

I won't be surprised if he has a card up his sleeves.

I'm yet to see someone from the North who is as astute in this game of shadows called politics like Tinubu.

If Tinubu had not midwifed the birth of APC, PDP would still be running around clueless like a headless chicken.

We can see that Tinubu is quiet. I am quite certain that the wheels in his mind is churning.

Let no one cry foul when he comes up with his political abracadabra again.

The North that Buhari belongs to will prove you wrong soon, so wait for it. As It stand now, Buhari has taken over the part trajectory, going forward.

The CPC is going to weed out ACN but on nairaland, odes say Yorubas own APC. Not once did the North counter such utterance but you will see it in action who truly owns the party in coming months...

Tinubu is a "glory" a political mathematician. A modern and pragmatic political kleptomania. Someone almost every political Top guns look up to. A man with a million soldiers and yet has only highly been a Senator.

He is being contended with and not contesting with anyone. This is why all the noise is all about him. Yet, he has never declares his interests publicly.

I remember when Obj called him a thief. He didnt debunk being a Thief he calmly replied " You thought me how to steal"

Power rotation is important to North cause the want the unity of Nigeria due to South access to sea and crude oil

North don't have any issues with Tinubu, they just don't want Oshiomhole to destroy the Party for them, and the Governors duely notified Tinubu of there plans when they went to Lagos with Obaseki

Buhari also played neutral game selecting neutral Yobe, Niger and Osun Governor to head the caretaker committee oderiing fresh Congress in 6 months while insisting the work with Ize Iyamu

You still haven't understood the dynamics of Nigerian politics, Tinubu isn't in a fight with Buhari or anybody.. they all made it clear they have absolutely no issues with Tinubu, but Oshiomhole's far to many sins had to be corrected through a General Party Congress within 6 months... Oshiomhole wronged Tinubu also when he refused to approve Ajimobi's appointment as Deputy National Chairman South given Giadom of Ameachi's camp undue advantage

Obaseki and other APC governors visited Tinubu to seek his opinion and he gave them a nod to fight back since what was agreed by Oshiomhole was violated when Tinubu first begged on his behalf to save him
