To some extent they are almost the same question.

To be equal to God means to have the highest position, which would philosophically man having the same sort of attributes attributed to God and thus making one God, equalizing it to the question of if one is God.

Anyways, Jesus as the Son, is below the Father but Jesus is God.

1. I and my Father are one. Not that the two Father and Son are one person. The Don was with the Jews and they picked stone to stone the Son not the Father.
Why would they Jews would stone Him?

The word greater is a comparison between two similar not dissimilar things or classes.
