Lol!

The resources TAO11 was lecturing you with was not written by Yorubas so what exactly do you mean by Yoruba revisionism?

The people that dated the bronze themselves asserted that their dating might be flawed and that is not a Yoruba doing, so how is that a Yoruba revisionism?

I can see you have suddenly lost the pace by the references TAO11 gave and you don’t even know how to respond other than to start throwing unrelated scenarios like Oluadah to digress.

Just calm down and learn from TAO, there are lot of things you can learn from him and everything should not be a case of win or losses.

Not that people are interested in Igbo culture and history tho because even amongst yourselves, a lot of you guys don’t even care about your history because it is full of contradictions and people are finding it hard to identify with it.

So calm down, Igbo culture is not interesting to me, and not even interesting to scholars of history.

TAO is just a moniker in nairaland.

Secondly, it was Benin people that described this kingdom to the Portuguese, not Yorubas.
To Benin people, East meant East. No scholar can upturn the observations of Portuguese explorers. This is the first time ever, that EAST has been twisted to mean the WEST.

Eze Nri Obalike already claimed that IDU was under the Nri influence, without being aware of the whole OGANE episode.

Personally, I know that the Nris were not even aware of this Portuguese note, up until about a year ago that I showed it to a high ranking historical personality.
I came across that website by accident, and the content confirmed what I have been hearing from our very traditional people, that Eze Nri was always contacted whenever a new Oba or Attah of Igala, was to be crowned. These our elders knew nothing of this Portuguese observation.
It's only a few Nri high-ranking personalities that know of this Portuguese recorded evidence, and they are not up to 5 in number.

People like Prof. Onwuejeogwu was not aware of this note even. Don't worry, very shortly the real KINGDOM IN THE EAST will make itself known.
And there is nothing TAO can do about it. Scholars will soon delve into this stuff, and obliterate all the lies and history-revisionism that ensued, because Nri has kept a low profile.

You will also need to come up with a way to obliterate the 4 market days, because it will come in handy, in your trying turn EAST to WEST.

Professor Thurstan Shaw, the man who dated it said himself that:
“ Consideration is given to the arguments for a date later than that suggested by the radiocarbon dates”

That implies it can not be an earlier time so you better re-read the quote below to understand more.

No where did he say IFE "maybe" older than Nri bros, all this are just points for argument, but until further archeological findings and carbon datings are carried out, NRI is still more ancient than any other antique culture in Nigeria.....it's just a Google search away

NRI influence was far and wide, not militarily but through JuJu knowledge and cultural administration, Anybody that uses the four markets day has been under Nri cultural administration in the past, Even Etinosa agrees grin

When was this arochukwu formed? The throne is not more than 500 years. We are talking of over 2000years King. In the 15th century Oyo has already had her 8th king

Please always stick to your points.

You were claiming that it was Lugard that introduced eze to Igboland. I obliterated that assertion by you, by informing you of Eze Nri, Eze Aro e.t.c.
You still went on to claim that Igbos only had one royalty i.e the Eze Nri, and Hellraiser77 sodomised your point by showing you a picture of Eze Aro.

Now you are telling us that the Aro stool has just been around for 500 years. My question to you is this. Did Lugard teach the Aros the eze tradition 500 years ago?

He is not a student of history, He thinks it's about the usual Igbo Yoruba banter, To have this kind of arguement you must be passionate about history

Lol, I literally quoted the words of the archaeologist (Professor Thurstan Shaw) who worked on the Igbo-Ukwu artifacts. grin Also, I literally attached a screenshot summary (from Adam Knobler’s 2016 work) of historical scholarship’s identification of the Ogane as none other than the Ooni of Ife. I think you should re-read that comment again, but this time slowly. cheesy

Anyways, you failed to inform me on why you should be taking seriously with your approach of imagining history rather than citing scholars like I did throughout the comment. I will give you one more chance on this. Please convince me.

In sum, repeating your ignorance multiple times (even a quadrillion times) does absolutely nothing to alter scholarship. Did you know this?? smiley

I am not trying to mArGiNaLiZe you though.

Did Adam Knobler visit Nri or interview Nri priests in the cause of his research? Because if he didn't, then I am sorry to say that his work is half-baked.
I am certain he must have visited Ife or Yorubas, who will help him in twisting history, but if he failed to visit Nri, then you may as well throw his work into the garbage bin.

I am one million percent, certain that he didn't visit Nri, otherwise the Nri authorities would have been aware of his work.

A lot of people will be declared quacks, by the time Nri makes a move to reclaim its heritage, Knobler included grin grin grin grin

How can you make a research of this magnitude, and even failed to identify a possible Kingdom in the east, thinking you can solve the problem by changing EAST to WEST?

Kingship was introduced to igbo land by lord lugard, go search am, although maybe after aro or Obi(Benin influence) , no worthy king again. Igbo were decentralised tribe with no sense of belonging, you know it, I don't under your beating about the Bush.

There you go again, making wrong assertions. According to the Nris, Igboland had about 60+ kings, around the time that Europeans visited.

The findings in Igbo-ukwu was by accident, and seen in a piece of land that used to belong to Oraeri, an Nri offshoot. Thurstan Shaw verified this fact.
Only God knows, what will be found, if a proper archaeological study is carried out in Agukwu and Enugwu-ukwu which are some of the core Nri territories.

My assertion still remain, although they was Eze Nri and aro but kingship system is strange in igbo land and even Igbo themselves have adage that says "igbo have no king" and tbh when lord lugard wanted to control the igboland, it seemed an impossible task as igbo don't have the kind of monarch system like Yoruba that unifies them, so he introduced Eze system to make the Eastern part easy to capture.

Yes, the scholars knew the bold, yet historical scholarship identifies the Ogane as the Ooni of Ife. And interestingly, not a single historian or scholar identified the Ogane as an Igbo king (only on Nairaland).

All scholars noted that the “east” in the document is of a religious non-literal significance. And Ife is well attested (among cultures throughout the Gulf of Guinea) by the religious epithet of “east” — the place from where the sun rises.

Moreover, every received detail of that account matches none other than the Ooni of Ife.

Name me one scholar (not Nairalander) who identified the Ogane as an Igbo king. None!

This Knobler you base your assertions on, did he ever travel to Nri to investigate things for himself, or did he just hang around Yoruba scholars who are always very willing to help him start seeing EAST as WEST

What evidence exist, beside hearsay, to prove an Eze NRI or Eze Aro beyond the arrival of whitemen?

We can tell you from several independent accounts - Borgu, Hausa, Fulani, Dahomey, Songhai, Bini, Europe, that Oyo had a Oba that predated Whiteman.

Can you tell us source/s that acknowledged Nri or Aro in 1850 and prior? Ibo accounts or accounts written post 1850 with back dates will not be accepted as proof.
