She was charged N350,000 Naira and later the medical director reduced it to N 250,000. She was been able to pay N160,000 but she has been struggling with the balance of N90,000 without luck. The hospital has been holding her captive since March till now.

I fear who no fear poverty.

The same people who raised and contributed to a gofundme for a BBNaija slut, will see this kinda news and pretend like it doesn't matter.... The ones doling out millions to able bodied people all because they participated in a dumb reality TV show, will never be bothered by this kinda news.

These same people will come and criticize their equally useless leaders, as if they are not even more morally bankrupt themselves.

Irrespective of what all of you here are saying, No Hospital has the right to abridge a Patients Right to Freedom, without a valid Court Order!
It is called KIDNAPPING!
I am really fuming right now that a Hospital would do this, even after she has paid #160,000.00!
Look at the gilr that was able to produce that amount of money, does she look like a rich person?
And to think that the matter was reported to the Police and they didnothing? What manner of stupid Policement are those?

IGNORANCE is at play here! Our Hospital owners are taking too much law into their hands of recent and this must be curbed.
The worst the Hospital could do is to come to a written, repayment arrangement with her, which is enforceable at law but to hold her against her will will land that MD in Prison, if he doesnot release her immediately
.
If you hold anyone against their will, it is Kidnapping, at Law, so iffs, no butts.
Even the Police are only allowed "limited time" to hold somebody without charging them to court, usually for simple cases, itis 24hrs otherwise you MUST release them on Bail.
For Capital offences like Murder, you have to charge them to court and the Court will most liley refuse bail and thus remand the accuse in prison pending trial date.

I will be petitioning the Human Rights office at Alausa, Ikeja over this nonsense but how come the NAME of the Hospital is missing in this Report or is it a fake story? shocked angry

go to vanguard.com and check whether the news is there. it is all fake. Linda ikeji would have published the account number, if it is real.

This is fake.

Differentiate between Vanguardngr and Vanguard.com.

I might be wrong but the account number should bear the woman's name, not some individual without face.

Many people will blame the hospital whereas the hospital will pay tax to government, buy fuel for electricity supply, repair generator, buy drugs, gloves and other consumables and still pay the staff.

This your stupid legal gra gra will deny people the right to adequate medical care in future

By the time hospitals start demanding full sum upfront before attending to patients maybe you and the judge will wear a scrub and do the surgery yourself

Or you think staff salaries and drugs are purchased with “the law says”

Please petition the human right desk oga

To treat her is a choice the hospital made! If they cant, they can stabilise her and refer her to a Govt Hospital but once they made the decision to treat her, then they have taken on responsibility and must be accountable.
How does all the above that you wrote, JUSTIFY KIDNAPPING someone and her baby for 7months?
When did Hospitals become Prisons?

You either dont do or you do properly. undecided

How come the man is absent.
Why a private hospital, Nigerians can kill other people business just to satisfy themselves. Government hospitals are available go there no. It is someone's private business that is struggling in nigeria harsh environment that you are trying this. The hospital try without complete payment went ahead with the procedure..
Respect yourself a go where your pocket carry you, this like this is not supposed to happen if government wake up to their responsibility..
