I still don't get it..

What are the honourable thieves in the national assembly waiting to pass a bill on ONE CHILD SYNDROME.

This would go a long way in reducing poverty and over population in this country.

It still baffles me none has risen up to move a bill on this.

Sitting down all day talking bullshits and getting fat cheques. Damn it!

God help her!

Can you just imagine th level of wickedness, even with a newly born baby?
Will the hospital MD die, if thieves rob him of the remaining balance of 90K?
If she can struggle and pay 160K under this condition, l am certain she can pay the balance, if given time and some fools here are nonsense.

So you prefer d hospital to send them back cos they can’t pay for the operation or to detain them till they complete payment ( most likely free food throughout that period) or they should operate them by calling consultants and paying the consultant(s) for the operation then let them go since they can’t pay cos the hospital is a charity organization?

This is d reason some hospitals wont attend to patients who can’t pay.

I know the hospital. Went to visit a lady that had cancer in d hospital last year march. Saw a lady who just gave birth there but couldn’t pay ( her husband stopped coming). The nurses said people around d place knows d MD will allow people to use d facility even if they dont have full payment but promise to pay but they try to play smart by trying to run away. D lady i saw there was also helped by a charity organization. I support the hospital in holding people till they pay instead of turning them back( even general hospitals do it too).

I have a friend in Lagos who goes about paying such bills without noise! As a charity. If he reads this, he will do something. BBC did an article on the guy and his angelic mission.

Irrespective of what all of you here are saying, No Hospital has the right to abridge a Patients Right to Freedom, without a valid Court Order!
It is called KIDNAPPING!
I am really fuming right now that a Hospital would do this, even after she has paid #160,000.00!
Look at the gilr that was able to produce that amount of money, does she look like a rich person?
And to think that the matter was reported to the Police and they didnothing? What manner of stupid Policement are those?

IGNORANCE is at play here! Our Hospital owners are taking too much law into their hands of recent and this must be curbed.
The worst the Hospital could do is to come to a written, repayment arrangement with her, which is enforceable at law but to hold her against her will will land that MD in Prison, if he doesnot release her immediately
.
If you hold anyone against their will, it is Kidnapping, at Law, so iffs, no butts.
Even the Police are only allowed "limited time" to hold somebody without charging them to court, usually for simple cases, itis 24hrs otherwise you MUST release them on Bail.
For Capital offences like Murder, you have to charge them to court and the Court will most liley refuse bail and thus remand the accuse in prison pending trial date.

I will be petitioning the Human Rights office at Alausa, Ikeja over this nonsense but how come the NAME of the Hospital is missing in this Report or is it a fake story? shocked angry

Quite sad. I can't say much. 7 months, the child is even close to celebrating 1 year Birthday there. She wouldn't have just kept quiet. The hospital I work can't even do such. My M.D won't even detain a CS patient because of money for more than a month. Even the Drs. will contribute and pay. Some staff will also do Same, I just don't know if the story has another side of it. But it's quite sad....

I hope this case is used as an example to hospitals. The management should be arrested and fined at least

In the end it will be counter productive
More hospitals will demand higher deposit fees and refer patients unable to meet them

As such more and more patients would be denied Medicare
The status quo actually benefits the poor.

In the end, the masses would suffer if what you propose is carried out without a total overhaul of the health sector

probably you didn't read the news properly, The name of the Hospital is , 'Mojo hospital at Egbeda shasha in Lagos.'

Truly is unfair. I even frowned at the news because I work in a hospital too. My M.D. won't do such. He's too kind for this to happen.
Ignorance is really playing here. To Me, I feel this news is missing out some infos. 7 months, the child will celebrate 1 year Birthday there.

Incorrect and inaccurate facts.
Crazy how Nigerians abuse the only few systems left still conducting life-saving gestures. Yhu will gift them kilometres but they will want to take miles.
Giving a discount of 100k from an agreed 350k is out of this world considering losses yhu will surely accrue because of the gesture. The patient turning around to clout-shame yhu is a shame and an ungrateful act. If the foundation is actually set out to help the patient, why can't they do the honorable by excluding the name of the concerned hospital. Why can't they call out the father responsible for this mess?
Do yhu think this hospital will make 100k profit from the 350k they charged yhu? No? In spite of the economic situation in the country, the hospital has not increased their charges yet consumables and drugs prices have gone up, most of them run on generators and are surely faced with the increase in petroleum product's prices, same with electricity charges. Gloves alone is now being sold on an average price of 2,500N from 1,200N before covid-19, same with syringes, needles, cannulas, drugs including covid-19 acclaimed treatment-drug, chloroquine. Staffs no longer want to be receiving same salary pre-covid19, minimum wage increase and the economic meltdown, they are demanding for more, same with surgeons, anaesthetics and hospital porters. Yet yhu want a discount after claiming a medical bill is too high thus inaffordable.

The funny thing is if they go to a government hospital, somehow the system will not give any leverage to ask for discount not to talk of taking the government-owned hospital to the media under false accusations like the one we are hearing here... Can yhu go to a government hospital and tell them the cashier yhu will pay after a procedure...
Before I go further, let me give yhu a breakdown of that your 350k for emergency CS -
Surgeon, even one, will collect 80-100k, an anaesthetic will want 50k, the working air-condition in that theatre will take at least 500N for that one hour procedure, the cleaner will use detergents, disinfectants including savlon and hypo which will gulp like 2000N, consumables which includes catheter, needles, syringes, blood-giving sets, gloves, nasopharageal tubes, face masks, nurses cap etc will take at least 10k, there's every possibility that the baby will use suction machine, olive or coconut oil, pampers, cord clamps, and cord gel...all amounting to about 50k; added to the possibility of blood transfusion for the new mothers ( 1 pint at 15k to 20k (O+); now ogapatapata, DRUGS will take at least 50k including stronger antibiotics as the hospital does not want yhu to come down with any breakdown so they will use stronger drugs like ceftriazone tazobactam (branded) and meropenem...

Now add up all these aforementioned costs and tell me why yhu feel its no shame talking ill of a non-Jesus resembling person that gave a discount of 100k from the agreed 350k because he has observed that yhu might not be able to pay up the full charges...

One thing yhu must know is that the hospital likewise every other business does not like debts. But one thing I'm sure of is that the hospital will never at any point stop treating yhu for whatever yhu come down while still under their custody...

Yhu cant keep asking for a particular channel on your ward TV, asking yhu go out for a party or go see relatives while yhu are still indebted to the hospital.

The nurse yhu claim to be the only one is not the only one helping yhu in that hospital, yhu deem him or her to be the only one helping her because yhu speak same language and feels a lot at home with him or her when yhu are gossiping having turned to a chief-patient...

Know hospitals tends to carry out charitable gestures but they are not a charity organization...
Appreciate, please do not crown their work with media stress.

I don't work in that hospital, I work in another hospital and all I wrote just now is fucking unethical
