This policy is useless because it would put innocent people into trouble. Criminals would rob you of your phone and use it to make all the calls they need and throw your sim card away after they are done. The police would then arrest you.

Another thoughtless policy coming at the wrong time. What about those with no national id number? They want to frustrate Nigerians again at a time they should be celebrating what's left of a chequered year.

it'll make tracking people easier, for example tracking criminals and it'll be easier to track Yahoo boys
Developed countries do this

The real criminals that Kidnap or carry-out ethnic cleansing in the Middle Belt dont care about such laws.
They use Satellite Phones or roam a SIM they get from Niger Republic, when doing their Evil crimes in Nigeria.

@the bolded: In developed countries, you can buy a SIM off Shelf (it is even free sef!), No I.d. nothing asked and you go to a Newspaper/Agent or Fuel Station and buy Credit Voucher to start using it and off you go.
They still dont experience this sort of Insecurity we do here in Nigeria because to be honest, it is the same people claiming to fight Insecurity, that are the perpetrators of that insecurity.
Do you not remember the Army Officer who was the backer of that Criminal Wadudu (that one the Police IRT arrested in Benue) and who later freed him and killed the Police team?
He is a Northerner and up till today, the military have refused to allow him face trial in Court!
And another Patani !diot is telling Telecoms to remove everyone who does not have NIN within 2weeks?
What has he done with the ones criminals exposed?
Just saying rubbish so he can impress the Dundee United that is leading the country, right
?

this is how it's done in Canada and other developed countries,it's just that they have their ways
It may not be the same way with ours
You need to provide an Id which would be your passport if you're a visitor
Do you think you'll just buy a sim card and start using it,this only works when you buy a phone from a carrier which you won't be able to buy if your a visitor...similar goes for other countries and I don't have time to explain to you

wahala for indians and lebanese o grin

forget, they will bribe their way to get the NIN.
Have all these people Buhari brought from Niger Republic not been getting the INEC Voters card and opening bank accounts with BVN?

What the Stoopid Minister Pantami needs to work on FIRST, is to ensure that people, everyone can get their NIN without stress, within two weeks of application.
After that, enable an online enrolment of everyone from their SIM, with pictures, in their phone.

I hope you are not a policeman or a law enforcement agent in any capacity. You can't reasonably be 100% sure people are criminals simply because they think outside a small myopic box. His point simply shows how flawed the order is.

They should bare it in mind that covid 19 is on a second wave invasion. This is not the time to jam pac the offices of telecom operators and 2 weeks is to short to synchronise millions of customers.

I say we have the most clueless set of leaders to ever grace the face of this earth.
