Have you tried to buy land in some parts of Lagos and have been told to pay Omo-Onile Signing Fees Like this Below

Who are Omo-Onile?
Omo onile  in Yoruba means “the child of the landowner.” Thus, an individual indigene of any specific Yoruba settlement may sell the portion of the family land appropriated to him or her.

The fear of Omo Onile is the beginning of wisdom for land developers in Lagos. Even with the best of education and your eyes wide open, you might discover that you have bought your land from ‘charlatans and impostors.’ The doctrine that governs the land market in Lagos is ‘buyers beware’. The multiple sale of land by branches of the same family is not generally considered a heinous crime but a minor side effect of African polygamy. In a house you built fifty years ago, you may one day find a fellow at your doorstep brandishing a paper called ‘court judgment’ that makes him the new owner of the land on which your property is built. The solution is ‘settlement’ that requires skillful bargaining. The possession of Certificate of Ownership is no defence in such matters.

In Some parts of Lagos, this is what you pay for

To put Foundation on the land N200,000
To collect the Deed of Assignment as proof of purchase of the land and receiving your money N200,000
To fence the property as a precaution against Land Fraudsters N150,000
To put a structure on it with Decking N200,000
To Construct a Roof on the property N160,000
Community Money for coming into their Village to buy a land N100,000

It's as if it's a crime to come to their place to buy land. I think our law is too weak to make these people to stop doing this nonsense all in the name of Omo-Onile

If you buy land at Elegushi, it's N2.5Million to just sign your document minus foundation and the rest of the nonsense they demand. In Badore, Olokonla, and areas controlled by the Olumegbon, it is N500,000 to sign your documents.

In Agungi, Osapa London, Chevron, and areas controlled by the Ojomu family, it's N1.5Million to sign your documents alone. Even those ones in the heart of Ibeju Lekki and Epe are beginning to copy their more illustrious counterparts to demand between N100,000 to N200,000 to buy land at Eleko or Free Trade Zone.

In Some part of Ikotun, Egbeda its almost N50,000

other tribe do sell lands but not at same rate as Yorubas. A Yoruba man can sell his father's grave for money.

And igbo man cannot sell his father alive for money? You just do what you like, Yoruba don't care, just respect them as they respect you. Do you know this rhetoric can lead to tribal war where many properties can be destroyed or lead to SW government forbidding Indigenes selling land to strangers again.

my brotherman please take it easy, this madness isn't limited to Lagos but across board, somewhere in the EAST it's the same thing, i believe if only we have an inclusive and working system' all these would not be in place today, my opinion.

I paid a total of N1.1m as omo nile money in all my works, including during fittings and other accessories. A colleague that wanted to play smart got the bitter treatment. He was allowed to continue building and all of a sudden, they whole thing was raised down at dawn. He had to go back and pay, more than what he was initially asked to pay and started rebuilding from the scratch again.

I quietly continued to enjoy my build without any harassment and they are even far protective of my building. Any trespassers, be it local government officials or building agency that comes near there, I trust Idris and Laye to handle them properly. grin. You are not different from agbero with this your comment and i believe only illiterates like you would like your comment or engage you.

Be wise, illiterates has taken over this platform

Don't judge a whole tribe simply because of individual opinion. Note that politicians laid tribalism foundation in this trap called country for their selfish interest. Now ask yourself, what is the population of politicians and their agents, and what is the population of neutral Nigerians.

Beware Nigerians. This is the time to know and understand the true identity of those who cause tribalism on here, they are paid agents, they are neither from east or west, some are not Nigerian. They have more than twenty monikers, they would create tribal related topics and make tribal comments with different monikers to cause chaos between southerners. Though, they have no conscience but you can try to educate them or better ignore them. They are easy to identify, use your head brothers.
They dominate this platform. They are evil and restless until their aim is achieved

2023, the year of "stone any bad politician".

All these realtors will not tell you these when advertising "dry lands, 5 minutes drive from lekki free trade zone and Dangote refinery".

For the doubting Thomases in Amaechi Akwunanaw you will pay 300k for Igwe fee. Then about 400k (which is negotiable) for ogbo na eche agu, then 50k for ewu ani. Some will ask for 100k to sign the power of attorney. While in Emene you pay 50k ewu ani then 200k (negotiable) for ogbo na eche agu and some other charges.

The tribe needs to be insulted here coz the practice finds its root in the core of the tribe. from Baale to the state government, everyone wants to rip occupants off their sweat. I am a more of a yoruba boy but this practice is devilish. The whole money in that paper could build two to three units of shops for the owner of that land.
