You guys are so ridiculous. If a people tell you to respect a personal animal in thier community you respect the sanctity of life preservation. If it was some foreign govt telling you not to kill bald eagles you will be here praising thier progressiveness. Here you are mocking a people regardless of WHY they tell you not to kill an animal. Err on the side of caution and respect. Animals want to live too. If this python was killing people left and right the community eouldnt tolerate them so ask them how to properly deal with the snakes or leave thier community.

Misterone:
let's follow a lead from your logic; what is a snake doing on a campus, na zoo? abi the school don turn to forest!
..... Sir, maybe you should take a tour around Nigerian schools.... A vast part of it are covered by grasses and bushes which is a natural habitat for reptiles and other dangerous animals..... That being said, I don't expect students to behave like Bush men.... As far as you know a phython doesn't pose a serious threat to humans, efforts should be made to capture it alive and release it into the wild but the first instinct they had was to kill it..... I'm sure some of them were eager to cook and eat it..... They should do the needful

They didn't know. They have to do the necessary cleansing rituals although one of the students MUST die that is if the traditional rites of forgiveness of ignorance are carried out. Worse if not carried out, It's also like this in my delta central. When it happened in my town, it was a big python patrolling the communities during festive season and after he finished, the python came to pay homage to the king only for workers to see it in the kings forest and ignorantly killed it, enclosed it in a sack and still foolishly brought it to show the king that they killed a snake that wanted to attack one of his fish ponds. The king was so disappointed because he was expecting the visitor as it usually is during festive season, the guys 3, 2 of them died that week and 1 was hospitalized I think he later died. If you find your self in a community ask about the dos and donts. Don't always be a stupid fanatic of foreign religion killing any animal you see.

You make sense. Well said But the community cannot take a life in exchange. They should find other ways. This shouldn't be a death penalty issue. Human life is sacred too.

what is more taboo than worshipping created things.... Thank you Jesus Christ for the Life-light which has appeared in the land of Owerri nchise; thank you for exposing the deceit of the chief Priest and evil members of the community, who has held your children in servitude and bondage. Thank you for the freedom you have brought to us...the people (staff and students) of Alvan Ikoku Institution of learning. The people that dwell in darkness has seen your light. I therefore commend to you, the people of Alvan Ikoku institution of learning and their host community to keep from the satan's power; for he is a defeated foe. Guard them in all their life pursuit. No Foul Spirit shall prevail over them, I bind you demonic spirit operating in that land in Jesus Christ name... lose your grip and hold on the dwellers in that land.... In Jesus Christ Victorious Name! AMEN!

There's no mediocrity here.

If you won't go to a church to desecrate it, neither would you do a church, why do you think you can do what you like with other religions?

By the way, the US is not the gold standard for living.

In many other nations some creatures, objects or locations are regarded as sanctified or sanctuaries.

Why must we always undermine ours?

Abeg answer this question, What would happen if the python was killed by US Special forces?

Their economy will automatically begin to deteriorate abi?

It's high time we as Africans rise above this mediocrity and deception of the devil.

Have you asked yourself why the US special forces would go to kill a snake considered sacred?

It is the same consequence they would get for going to bomb a mosque or church.

Stop patronizing me and face reality here bro!

This ain't about some mosque or some church, Rather it's about ''A SUPPOSED BELIEF SYATEM'' Which ultimately is a mind thing right?

In Line with your assumption, Do you honestly think there's any consequences/Repercussions to follow?

Seriously leave that thing!

And pay NO attention to the tricks of the devil...

Churches and mosques are not belief systems?

Or because they are imported they are therefore superior?

Man, know thyself.

[quote author=ChiefSosa post=104359599]Africa and some nonsense beliefs. They should gerrarahere joor. We need to get rid of some of these nonsense beliefs; it sounds moronic, especially in the 21st century.
It's mentally insulting. Try explaining some of these beliefs to educated and well exposed people, & watch how moronic you'll appear. U go be like fool_for their eye.

In as much as Pythons do not naturally attack humans, but not everyone is aware or would just let a python be moving around freely. Those students acted in self defense; the gods should understand. Look at the huge snake sef

I wonder why a chief priest is in a relationship with a python, when we have beautiful girls at Owerri.

*sigh*
Always using negative events to justify their juju. Issues at work site like this happen everyday. They happened before a python was killed; happened after the python was killed and it's still going to happen in future times.
We've also seen several white contractors that kicked away sacrifices dropped at sites, did anything happen to them??

Oga chief priest, the goats, fowl, fish, snail etc that you have been eating and drinking beer after, were they aggressive? Did they harm anybody? So, why did you now kill and even eat them?
If it's forbidden to kill snakes in such community, then you shouldn't let such snakes be wandering about. Get good animal protection program. Have snake catchers available. This is Nigeria, where MOST people are scared of snakes and don't even know which is venomous or not. Me any snake wey I see, I dey murder am straight.

.
modify:
My Gen suddenly went off, I guess their juju is already working on me grin
modified again:
Due to my love for the students and the fact that my Gen suddenly went off; I've agreed to go and appease oga chief priest and the gods. I'll wear a white singlet, tie a wrapper and hold a white handkerchief to do the traditional dance in the market square, while some men are playing the flute. I shall dance vigorously to impress Oga chief priest, till my generator will come back on. I will appease the gods and oga chief priest with kola, gin, #500 Mtn card, etc If you don't hear from me in some days, just know I've gone to owerri to go and dance. grin [/quote
