please all these arsenal fans mentioning names of players to buy here, are doing so with the intention that these low profile players will bring in the trophy you lack or to continue with your sexy football that does not yield anything at the end of every season?
none of is different from your coach wenger. why or what are u saving all these funds for? are you planing to go to heaven with the funds u are saving? please think big. mention big names like aguero, pato, neymar, messi, ronaldo, pastore and other world class players. they are all footballers and are to play in football clubs and not in hollywood. what is this madness of everybody talking over-rated and thinking of $2m players.
as long as u and ur club(arsenal) continue doing this same thing, the result will end up the same.

The transfer window does not open until July 1st, no official announcement can be made until then. Except stuff like 'has agreed to join'. . .'captured the signature of' . . . . etc

high profile players aren't necessarily the key to winning titles - Chicharito wasn't 'high profile' before playing a crucial part in Utd winning the title.

We are realistic. grin We know Wenger isn't going to buy Pato, Aguero or Neymar, so we make credible suggestions.

Besides, 'thinking big' never led to a transfer in the real world so I think you're just full of bollocks. grin

Insomnia would be a great buy particularly if we can't make up the money for either Hazard and Turan and we'll also get a player proven in the PL, but I know most will condemn it under the French parapo myth. It will get worse by the media if he ends up benching Theo.

Personally, my main targets are another striker with different characteristics from our current guys - someone direct, powerful and persistent, and of course a CB. All others are relative luxuries.

Last season, I wouldn't have sold him for anything less than that, he might have dropped a bit on this season's performance but it is good that the club still values him that highly, he still has 3 seasons left on his contract and he is 24. Anyone who buys him know they are buying one of the best MFs out there for the next 3 - 6 years so why exactly should we sell him for peanuts?
just because some people are throwing the baby out with the bath water and condemning a proven player who had an injury plagued season?

Even with the injuries, he had a better season than Torres and is younger - asking for more than £50m is a fait accompli to me.

50million, 30million I hope we don't sell Fabregas. Why sell the best midfielder (I'd say player, but some people go just start to dey convulse) in the league if you are trying to win things.

@Debosky my priority will be a DM, substitute for Song or who can relieve Wilshere. Diaby has proven to be too injury prone to be entrusted with both roles at the same time.

Then of course whatever goliath ya'll fancy in defense.

Field Marshal Slimshay tenhutt!!

Make you take am easy on Admiral Mukina2. . . .we need her fit for service in the near future. grin

Excerpts of Wenger's interview on French radio that has spurred a series of stories - hear it from Le Prof's mouth and make up your own mind

Wenger on Arsenal's 2010-2011 season:
"I was upset. We though we could win all the trophies, but we failed due to a lack of character. It is the most frustrating season I've had to go through.
"The team played some of the best football I saw at Arsenal, but failed to reach the top when needed. It is frustrating and questionning. We need maturity."

On potential signings, Wenger said:
"We will try to buy players who could gave us what we need. It's a difficult task. Firstly, we have to enforce defensive line. We lost points against teams who play the natural English way of football, with long balls and physical struggle.
"So we need players who know how to manage this kind of game, which means English players, or players who know the Premier League."

About the possible departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasir, Wenger said:
"Fabregas will not go this summer. Last summer,Barcelona made offers, but on this one there is no offers at all. He's the best midfielder in the world, we built the team with him around him. He's our captain, we want to keep him at any cost.
"Regarding Nasri, one thing is absolutely sure, that we will not sell him to Manchester United. We have a financial disagreement with the player, and I will work on it during the summer, to ensure he will extend his contract."

Regarding Arsenal's rumoured interest in Karim Benzema, Wenger said:
"As far as I know, Madrid doesn't want to sell the player, which is understandable. And the fact that Zidane is now close to the club will reinforce possibility of that Benzema won't move."

On his philosophy for next season, Wenger said:
"Only world class players can reinforce our team, because we already have a world-class quality football. The target is to keep our qualities, strengthen them and get rid of our weaknesses.
"We still have to improve offensively, because we are an offensive team. There are people who ask me to change our way to play, but I think we have to keep going with this style of play."

On his plan to travel to South America on holiday, Wenger said:
"I will spent my holidays there, scouting players and meeting people in South America."

@DK, usually don't deals aren't official until july 1. But that's all paperwork sha. Wat I refer to Arsenal who if its possible we won't ever announce a signing.

On the flip side though once the window officially opens contrary to popular opinion, when going for first teamers Arsene wenger does his business very early in the summer.

wenger has no plans and if he does. . . . .he will not plug the holes in the arsenal team. i don't know why wenger hasn't signed a goalie yet after what his team suffered last season and the penultimate season. the defenders are also b-rated. they all need to be sold. the midfield and the attack is not too bad but the back five(bar sagna) need to be replaced.

Wenger is allegedly bidding for a keeper from Germany if rumours are to be believed. He is also seeking to strengthen the defence.

It'll be interesting to see what he actually does this window - it is clearly the most important one of his reign yet. . .

i have been hearing this since 2007. this season is the most important for wenger, next season will be the decider. wenger has one chance left and so on and forth. it's now 3 seasons ago since cesc said if arsenal don't win a title - he would leave.

It's a balancing act - you can't make wholesale defensive changes, else you end up with what we had this season. It is my firm belief that if we didn't have a completely new CB pairing of JD/LK, SS/LK or JD/SS for most of the season, we'd have had a better defensive outcome. If we decide to get rid of two CBs, we'll be in the same position.

In my view, we need to get rid of Squillaci, bring in someone like Samba and we'll be done at CB. For the LB position, sadly Clichy is still better than Gibbs. Unless you envision AW buying another two defenders who can come into the first team, I'd rather keep him.

I am not Cesc, neither have I said this previously. In my view, the changes this season - falling woefully at the last hurdle in the CC, the appalling falling away late in the season and a new owner mean that Wenger is under more pressure to deliver than ever before. Factor in an increase in season ticket prices and you have a very dangerous situation for the club as a whole - if there isn't sufficient confidence in the side, the empty seats at the Emirates might soon become unsold seats, not just absentees.

If any more compounding was required, 2011/12 will be Arsenal's 125th anniversary - just enough will not do this time around.

After all said and done Arsenal will finish at their usual position.

Cool your jets - Arsenal signed 3 players last summer, the youngest was 24. . . so what is the noise about 'kids' ?

You can't make wholesale changes - you'll cause more harm than good. We saw how much hassle it was playing new CBs all season.

Besides, a number of those players also qualify as our 'homegrown' players - so we can't simply get rid of all of them in one go. It has to be phased.
